Sometimes with other group I just listen the beat (that is ear catching), because the lyric not as deep/meaningful as BTS. For example group A have one or more good song and lyric but not the other their song.
*AND THIS VIDEO DIDN'T EVEN EXPLAIN THE WHOLE MV!* The MV has a lot of other stuff that needs to be talked about! For example, V's glasses: during a livestream, a 'fan's told him that these glasses don't suit him , and yet he proudly wears them in the MV; Hobi's sweater with bugs bunny to people who make fun of Hobi's energy saying he has ADHD; Suga's sweater with snow white to people who make fun if his paper white skin; RM's filters: during a livestream some fan told RM to turn off the filters which he was playing with. Also the video is so weird and so colourful, because a lot of people assume that all Asian commercials, MV's and TV shows are just so frickin weird. And this is the weirdest bts MV.
@@alperry02 it was the interviewer (zack!) who was actually wearing the shirt, and he himself said it was ridiculous but it was all in a joking way 🥰 he even got the boys to sign it and then auctioned it off and gave the money to the UNICEF campaign ^^ it was probably a reference to this wholesome moment. The interview was amazing, which is rare in the US.
@@dublew6290 this was a while ago so forgive me if I'm wrong lol. But I believe that was the second interview regarding "the shirt". The first interview/ incident, tae was the one who had that shirt on except I think it was green hearts? Maybe blue? Anyway, zack (same interviewer) made some off hand comment about it and I dont think he meant to be mean but it was a bit awkward. So...some time after that, tae wears red heart shirt in Idol. Then zack shows up with this same red heart shirt from Idol which is similar to the one tae had on previously (blue/ green hearts) that started all this. That's when the members signed it and donated to UNECF and all that. I don't know why I remember all this tbh. Lol. I guess I like the fact that members often wear things that previously get made fun of or looked down upon. Iike jimin's shirt he kept wearing after a fan told him it was too revealing in a vlive comment. Man...he wore thing to photo shoots,interviews, even the 3 day Seoul Concert Finale last year. 😂 it was the ultimate Fck U. I loved it

It's true that Tae was wearing this same shirt before, but green. I think it was a coincidence, because the green hearts short was for a Coca Cola Russian World Cup photoshoot, so he probably didn't chose it himself.
The kpop industry is so controlled. Many agencies don't give their artists creative freedom. Which I think, personally, is a move to keep the artist dependent on the agency for everything. BangPD / Big Hit is one of the only agencies who allowed their groups freedom over their their music. Bang PD encouraged it and wants BTS to write music that express and tells the stories they want to tell. While there have been groups that had amazing talented members that could write and produce, their agencies often end up failing them, stunting their growth. It's all about control in the end... Big Hit nurtured and encouraged BTS, even when they were failing and not making money, the agency stood by them instead of throwing them to the curb like many other agencies do. So many agencies debut a group and give up on them when they don't reach number one fast enough to make money off of them. :(

if there's anything I noticed about Jin, he's quite sarcastic - a polite one but definitely sarcastic and quite worldly so I wouldn't be surprised if one of those possible explanations of his Kore drawing is actually true. people tend to focus on his silliness/goofiness and dismiss his depth

One thing David Kim skipped over was the reference to "Anpanman" - which is both a BTS track, and a famous children's cartoon superhero that the song references. You might want to check out the track, and an explanation of it (there are articles if there's no video explajation.)
Maybe because Anpanman is Japanese it doesn’t fit in with Korean culture even tho every Korean has watched Anpanman? I don’t know haha just speculating. He could’ve just forgotten.
And also whalien52 song reference for the whale drawing.. Because if BTS is talking about how they dominate worldwide the song whalien is so fitting because it's inspired from a lonely whale that whistles on 52 hertz while normal whale do it on 15-20 hertz, so other whales cannot hear or understand him. It really describe well how BTS feel be it when they go promoting in the west when they have to face lot of barriers like language, culture, etc. It also applies at how people view them as an artist because of the idol/boyband stigma.
Also that the the whole Korean vibe is because they were criticized of becoming westernised (i don't think it was said ) and the filters RM used because they were criticized of using them a lot

Idol was the ending of Love Yourself. It was their own answer to that. I love how they make such a fun and happy diss track lol. The live version of 2018 MMA had traditional dance solos, traditional dancers and the track was changed to be played live with traditional Korean instruments. Watching BTS music videos, how they have a whole storyline and how their mv actually have deep meaning like Idol made me realize America artists are kind of really lazy towards their music videos. America music videos are not really deep, a lot of times it’s the same own thing, just half-dress females dancing sexy or guys showing off their house/cars/lady/money.
ShyGabby I agree, but I noticed that getting girls in sexy clothes and showing off money is even a bigger effort for them now. I’ve noticed several artists either just on a chair, or have their faces zoomed in and simply sing their song. I’m not sure if that’s slowly becoming a standard to how western artists do their MV. Nothing wrong about it, it’s just that I can’t help but compare it with BTS MVs. Imagine getting a whole movie in less than 6 minutes, why would anyone settle for less?
I agree with you, Taehyung's (S) "SINGULARITY" is an example of this, the MV is extremely sexy and sensual, the boy is dressed from head to toe and no vulgar movement and the women dressed in a bold manner were placed there, and just dance, your deep voice and your talent.
you know what i barely listen to westen songs nowadays because its not the same anymore. almost of the songs talk about sex and girls. the music video a girl grinding on the floor. im not saying all the songs are like that but lot of them are like that. dont bash me its jusy my opinion.
I think you are just not listening to good Western music. There are plenty of great Western artists. I love BTS but they're not the only good artist in the world. What about Tyler The Creator's Boy With a Gun music video released last year it was aesthetic af and symbolic, a song about the relationship with his boyfriend. Or This is America by Childish Gambino satirical song about racial tensions in the US. Billie Eilish's unique pop songs and music videos. Most good & meaningful music isn't pop music btw theres countless talented artists in many different genres.

I read this somewhere and it actually can apply well: In terms of both music and visual content in music videos, other groups are great but BTS is on another level. While others are good with whatever they do, BTS is like an orchestra of brilliant contents with layer top layer. Not only their storyline or the visual effects they used in each video, but also the music composition is very complicated and actually "in sync" with each other. They don't just create music, what they do is art and that's what makes them different from other Kpop groups and even Western acts around the world. Like, tell me which act creates a whole sequel to all of their albums with references here and there, which is absolutely breath-taking, especially when we find "a bridge" between one of their songs with a 7-year-old song.

Yeah i agree with you that its hard to listen to other groups. All kpop idols are talented but in my opinion bts is on another level. I listen and love other kpop groups songs but its not the same as a whole in my opinion when it comes to bts. Its normal to compare other groups to your favorite group.. In my opinion bts is just on another level compared to other groups in general not only kpop..I think other groups who do great songs consisting are exo, twice..I dont stan them as much as bts bc as much as i love there music they usally have the same style and type of song most of the time..Its not a bad thing its just my reason on why i dont stan them as much..I think when it comes to lyrics as good as bts would be seventeen, exo and stray kids..Of course theres others but these are the ones that popped in my head. In my opinion no group is on bts level but there are ofcourse a lot of other talented groups.
If you want an amazing group to check out I highly recommend Epik High. They aren’t a K-pop group (I don’t mean that in a bad way whatsoever, they are Korean, just not idols) they are a hip hop group that put out amazing songs. They are definitely an older group (formed 2003) even BTS looked up to them. I’m not going to compare the two, the styles between the two differ, but I’d say that how they tackle lyrics is about on par to expectations. To start I recommend checking out songs like “Home is far away” “In Seoul” and “Love drunk” these are just a few out of there huge discography.
BTS is on another level it is impossible to say which group arrives at their level. The other groups work hard and have their own storyline but they are not comparable to that of BTS. BTS is no longer a kpop group but a music group, they are accomplished artists with a true love for art and music. their music speaks about them, what music means to them and the love they have for their friendship. so from my point of view there is no group that arrives at their level. the genre is BTS.💜💜💜

Being a kpop stan since 2013, I never encountered other groups doing the same things as bts did. Only the artists of Big hit entertainment did that. Try to check the connections of mvs of GFriends, TXT, and Bts.
13:27 I think it is really difficult now to achieve the same level with BTS bc BTS themselves was a gambling at first, they were Bang PD's last chance. There are many coincidences which create this magic. Even now the production groups in BigHit are also helping TXT and Gfriend to construct the story lines and connect these story lines to each group. But the talents of lyrics writing, music composing and spot reaction in a foreign interview...ect are really hard to reproduce. The producer roles in BTS were originated at beginning, there are some other PD and composers in BigHit were used to be trainees with BTS members before debut, they are a team at beginning so the level that BTS members involve into their own music is much deeper than others. I think it is bc Bang PD is not only create a idol group but also his teammate in future. Idols' life spin are relatively short, they usually look for their next career while they are still idols. In this part I think Bang PD is a really thoughtful and responsible person.

I’ve been into kpop for quite a while (about 7 years now) and I tried to think of groups in kpop who are anywhere close to BTS and what they do.... The only group that can be accurately compared to BTS is definitely “SeoTaeJi and Boys” quite literally the only groups in kpop to have ever had his big an impact. That’s why SeoTaeJi literally “passed the torch” to BTS at his 25th anniversary concert.

Is it just me or is idol's lyric concept sorta connected to their most recent comeback? In jk's verse in idol he sings, "Inside me, 10, 100 of myself exist", which link back to jungian's psychology about accepting your ego in order to gain balance or in BTS' case, self love. Since idol was their last 2018 comeback, it'd be safe to assume that idol was an intro to their first 2019 comeback with boy with luv and the whole map of the soul: persona concept. That's what pull ARMY to them, aside from their hardworking, good music and cool choreography, their lyrics are the best. Honestly, I almost mentioned BingBang or Jay Park as an artist who well known across Asia or maybe western music... They had big famous back then... But I realised they got names because of their agency influence, not by their "originally" work, so I became a stone 😂
i'm hard core Army, but recently i watched amazing group performance called "Ateez" they cover BTS in MAMA 2019 it was insane even BTS gave them applause, their performance remind me of BTS on their debut days. idk if they also produce their song but their concept, the music catchy and unique i listen few of them on spotify. their particular performance in mnet halloween special also insane. some people say they're the next BTS, idk but if they'll be success one day i won't be suprised. from unknown company but we can see passion and hard work, just like BTS in debut days.

I think you read my mind DT 😂 BTS is the love of my life since 2013. I dropped all the groups I'm stanning because of them. I'm a multi before knowing them. Back then I don't connect with the groups I'm stanning on a deep level. I just enjoy their music and mvs, never bothered to go to their concert or buy their merch and albums. I vibe with them and that's it. But when my Malaysian friend told me that there's this hiphop group who just debuted, check them out. I said okay, I will and I watched their MV no more dream, I never bothered to look at their lyrics that time and to be honest got weirded out by their style/looks. (forgive me my loves) I thought that Seokjin was the only normal looking guy there. So, I didn't become a fan but when N.O came out that's when I fell into the endless rabbit hole with no way out. (Not like I want to get out, I'm fine here.) 😂 And like you've said there's no other like BTS. In short, after I became an ARMY, I never stan other groups anymore. I'm already satisfied with just BTS as my ultimate group. Yeah, sometimes I check out other groups here and there, but that's just it, I never stay longer with them and keeps going back to BTS. BTS came into my life when I needed them the most. They became my anchor since, I've known them. I have social anxiety and depression and whenever I feel like shutting down and giving up on my life, all I need to do is get my in-ears and listen to their music or watch their crack videos, and just like magic, I'm ready to stand again and fight my demons. They are my cure and they gave me another reason to live and learn how to love myself just little by little. They are my light in this cruel world. I couldn't imagine what would be my life without them in it. I cried with them and laughed with them. They are a part of my family now until my death. I love them so much, I know it's crazy for other people, some my laugh at me for saying this but I don't care. I grew up with them and I will always be with them even we're miles apart. I'll keep supporting them from afar and cheer for them until I lose my voice. I won't trade them for anything. They are the most beautiful thing that happened into my life. Not only in Kpop, but also in the World pop, BTS is the only one-top in its totality! Expecially when it comes to philosophical depth and messages they are trying to spread, there's no band who can be compared to them.
Since your asking for recommendation of other groups, consider (g)idle. It is a very characteristic girl group with the leader Soyeon. Their song has always amazed me with the vocals, and their visuals are great. The other Korean artist I really love besides BTS is a group called Epik High. Tablo from the group is an amazing lyricist Namjoon looks up to him because BTS are big fanboys of them. They are an alternative hip hop group with a few pop-like songs but they mightn't suit everyones taste. Check out their song Born Hater to begin with anyway.

So, DT, u said something about having haters... Here's my funny story with it Back in 6 grade...I may have been 12 or 13? After a particular Maths test, in which I had managed to get the highest score, along with the only topper in that class...I had to deal with shit!! We were the only two who got the highest score n she began the rumor that I copyed her paper, in reality, I didn't even know where she sat!!! So yeah, I know how it is to have haters!! Totally worth the experience!!! Loved this particular reaction cause it was AWESOME!!!! P.S.: I don't love Math anymore!!!

TXT has a universe too, like how BTS has the Bangtan Universe. They’re both from the same agency (Big Hit Entertainment) so it makes sense that they both have their own universes. Some fans are having theories of both universes having connections, and are actually part of this big universe, like the Marvel Universe. I said universe too many times sorry haha Edit: TXT is not as popular as BTS, since they debuted in 2019. So, I can’t really say that TXT have these meanings behind their music videos since they haven’t released as much as BTS, but it is confirmed that they have their own universe.
And if you are curious if there's other group that has this kind of creativity. Let say Big Hit is great at this kind of things. So, last year after 6 years of having only one group, the company debuted another group, a five member boy group named Tomorrow X Together also known as TXT. Their MVs in another level too. And they have stories to tell too. That their fans (MOA) and ARMYs are theorizing that TXT MVs and BTS's MV are connected (Nothing is impossible with BigHit's mind). If you go deeper in Bangtan Universe and read HYYH notes, you can see in the story line that there is other mentioned name in the story other than BTS themselves. And that name is "Choi". And the funny thing is in TXT there are three members that has a surname "Choi". Again Big Hit and their minds. :) Please react to TXT.

If you are looking for a group that tells stories like bangtan lyrically, you won't find one. but Seventeen tells stories in a different way. They are known for their intricate, genius and beautiful choreography. From the use of sign language in many of their choreographies like Thanks and Fallin' Flower to the pictures the bring to life, what emotions Seventeen's beautiful lyrics bring become personified and enhanced through their choreography. I don't think there are explained videos for all the meanings behind their choreography but I would gladly explain it to you
I feel your rant on how they've spoiled you lol. I am like that as well. I mean what can you do when you''re always given the upmost best from BTS so you expect nothing but excellence. Perfect Example on the different levels... TXT does something similar to BTS( they are label mates #BigHitFamily) ATEEZ is also doing something a bit similar as well Both groups have storylines and a good deal of creativity
