As others said, this was a pandemic moment. BTS plans way ahead. At this point in their career, they were about to go on a huge world tour and (assuming it went well), would have become even bigger and then released another album and that was the normal plan. Then Covid happened. They waited, but then the tour had to be cancelled. Everything shut down. People were dying. They all started struggling, wondering if they’d ever see their army again, what would they be if not BTS? They wanted to do something so they released “Be.” But “Be” wasn’t planned. The company told them they’d have their support, but this was for them to do. Write it, plan it, produce it, do your own promo, right down to deciding what photos to use, JK directed the music video, each of them took a role traditionally done by members of their crew and staff. It was to be entirely theirs. There are videos uploaded of their planning meetings and work behind the scenes that are really cool if you want to see how things are made. Shortly before Life Goes On released a friend of mine died of Covid. Things were just… so awful. I was so looking forward to whatever they were dropping to just give me a moment of entertainment. Instead, I got this beautiful message. Yes, things are horrible right now. Yes, it feels like life is over. Like the world is stopped and there’s no escape. But one day this will pass. One day, you’ll look back on this and it will fade and things will feel normal again. One day we’ll all be together again and it will be just like before. It’s going to be ok, life always goes on. I was a fan before, but this made me truly love these guys. Everyone either released nothing or released music that pretended nothing weird was happening. These guys said “it’s happening, it’s real, but it’s not the end. It’s going to be ok.” A whole album of songs about living in the pandemic, about trying to retain the living part of it. I genuinely believe this album deserved a Grammy precisely because of the moment it captures, and how it captured it with so much love and hope. It was a healing song, and we needed it so badly. These are some good dudes, so I am always going to be on their team.

This song was released during the pandemic to help us feel better. It's actually the first BTS song I ever heard. At home because of the pandemic, on the couch just watching tv all day. I kept seeing this commercial for a Samsung phone & there was a voice that just hooked me & I had to find out who was singing this song. It was Jimin's voice that brought me to them. I am forever grateful for that. Oh, and Jungkook directed the video too! Also, they do a LOT of rap. Can't wait for you to hear Daechwita!! 💜💜💜

This song was written in 2020, on their BE album that was all about the Pandemic. They enlisted from Dec 13, 2022, to December 11, 2023. They released a lot more music between this song and when they enlisted. AND, they are still releasing music as solo artists while they are enlisted.
