BTS Tiny Desk Concert reaction 

This Tiny Desk was done in 2020 during the pandemic... when they mentioned 'Army' it is the name of their fanbase who they were missing as the concerts they had planned got cancelled due to Covid.... They are now all 7 serving in the military... You have a lot of time to catch up on learning more about our members, maybe starting with Taylor's guide to Bts, the Bangtan 7 would be a good start. When you realized the song you knew and were jamming out to was from BTS you made me so happy lol. You are vibing to this and looked adorable asf clapping after Dynamite lol. Your decipher is so sweet but its a great interpretation of how you would feel the song is going by not knowing the lyrics and hearing some English words in there. Then knowing the information you were given your explanation of how you perceived Save Me was kind of spot on. ARMY is the BTS fanbase....we are huge and we are strong...we are their ARMY.

FYI - Tiny Desk has subtitles that are accurate. You can turn them on for the meaningful lyrics. And YES, Dynamite it BTS's song. It was a huge hit in 2020, and it was a Billboard #1 Hot 100 hit. Dynamite was released as a single, but also included on their album BE, that was all about the pandemic and how they felt about it and dealt with it. Dynamite was a song they released first, so people could have some fun and be uplifted. Then they released Life Goes On, which was also a Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit song. It was the Title track to their BE album and talked about the pandemic. This TINY DESK HOME concert was done during the pandemic, and BTS were having a hard time because of the pandemic and missing ARMY, and not being able to perform live in concerts, it's what they love the most about being musicians. Sorry you can't watch Spring Day, it's a beautiful song. They were having a hard time but I don't think it was what you thought. They had all of their Stadium Tour cancelled because of the pandemic. So this was in 2020, and now they are enlisted in the military, which is what every single able bodied South Korean man has to do for 18 months. They are at a standoff with North Korea, which means they have had a cease fire for many many years, but their has not been an official treaty. So they are still at war. BTS will be fine, they will be back in 18 months, and they will be together again as a group. BTS ARMY are looking forward to it. This was from 2020 in the midst of the pandemic and that's why they were getting emotional : yes they missed their loved ones and Army (which is the name of their fanbase, not the actual army) but not for the reasons you think. It was because of quarantine and not being able to perform in front of an audience etc... Now about the whole military thing : in my opinion (and it's only MY opinion) the western point of view of this whole mandatory military service can get very dramatic... I don't know who told people this was some awful traumatic service but based on what the BTS members said and other testimonies, most Korean people are really proud to serve for their country and see this as a growing experience. I'm not saying it's a good or a bad thing, all I'm saying is that as an international community, we should be able to open ourselves to other cultures and lifestyles without making it something that it's not. Because truthfully, unless we're a Korean who has served, we have no idea what it's really like. It's all about perception I guess... Just know that BTS took the decision themselves to stop postponing their military service. 🙂

Spring Day is such a beautiful song. The video is another masterpiece of symbolism and the explanation videos on how it relates to the Sewol Ferry tragedy are definitely tear-jerkers. That song has been on the Korean music charts since it debuted and has become an national anthem for perseverance through sadness.

This tiny desk concert was recorded in june 2020 when covid rules were in force, they had had to cancel a huge stadium world tour that they had been preparing for. Every year they do events for their fans, called Army, in mid june to celebrate the anniversary of when they debuted in 2013. So that year they did this tiny desk concert, they had released Dynamite in all English for the US market earlier that year. Their last song Spring Day was released in 2017, I think, and is a song about missing old friends, it quickly came to be adopted by the Korean public as a song to remember some hundreds of young people who drowned in a ferry accident. You can hear the song dripping in grief. The Army they were refering to were their fans, who they were currently separated from, not the military. Now in 2023 they are all serving mandatory military service and are hoping to reform as a band in 2025. They are all patriotic young men and would never complain about having to serve their country, in fact they are in many ways perceived as national heros.

The last song, spring day is actually a legend, nicknamed the queen. It never leaves the Korean charts ever since it's release in 2017. The song was associated to the sewol ferry tragedy where over 300 people died majority school children on a field trip. If you wanna watch the mv, please watch the explanation videos as well for better understanding. There are 7 members in BTS; 3 rappers and 4 vocalists. Even they are all in the military now, they've prepared a lot of contents for army (BTS army...not the military one😅). So we just have to wait for the release. 5 of the members will be discharged by June2025 but 2 of the members will be discharged in June2024 and Oct2024 since they enlists earlier than the rest. We can expect more contents from these 2. Meanwhile, you have time to catch up. They have extensive discography. They have mv, dance practice video, behind the scenes, their own variety show called run BTS, vacation videos. So that's a lot of contents to last until all of them come back👍☺.

spring day is the queen of BTS songs, she is special because of the message she conveys both in the lyrics and in the Mv, at the moment all the BTS boys are already in the army, but we will always support and wait for them until 2025

I saw that other commentators let you know that ARMY is the fandom name. BTS is an acronym for Bangtan Sonyeondan which is translated to Bulletproof Boyscouts. When they debuted back in 2013 they were mostly teenagers (15 to 20 years old). Their CEO, Bang Si Hyuk, wanted a group for the youth to look up to and grow with. Bulletproof refers to them standing against criticisms and expectations that are aimed at young people like bullets Whilst a military army is hinted at in the fandom name, it is actually an acronym itself for Adorable Representative MC for Youth - A.R.M.Y. They wanted fans who would raise their voices and stand alongside BTS to share that message and to protect others from those bullets. Being ARMY is not just about being a fan of the group but taking forward these values and living in a way to help others, however small each person's contribution is, together it helps create a better place to live. In this video they were referring to the fandom ARMY ad they did not join the military til 2022/2023. They serve a minimum of 18 months. Jin will finish his service in June 2024, J Hope in October 2024 Suga in March 2025 and the remaining 4 members in June 2025.

Mandatory military service is a mixed experience for Koreans and even for Korean celebrities. Some have good memories, others have not but it's definitely needed because of the fact that a peace treaty with the North was never signed. BTS members were saying from the start that they will serve but they got so big that their service got postponed. They joined when it was their time to do so. You don't have to worry about them. We hear from them sometimes and they are doing exceptionally well. Plus, they're not deployed anywhere like the American soldiers for example.

Sad you walked away from the third song, Spring Day. I think you sensed something about the song then ran away due to what you sensed. You're brave to approach BTS. Some of the material is quite deep. However, running away when you invite others to appreciate your reactions on your newish channel leaves me with a final impression of a good but weak person whose commitment to sharing with your viewership may need some more development. I am not knocking you as again I think you are a good person. I just want to advise you that most in the BTS fandom called ARMY will embrace you and educate you.
