I posted on another video of this game that my husband and I (BU Law '79, living in D.C.) were at the Verizon Center for both the semis and the finals. Have loved BU hockey for thirty years. We were students when we watched the 1978 NCAA Championship win in Rhode Island, were thrilled to see the BU guys help win the Olympic gold, have been to many Beanpots, and now this. Jackie's hair was not grey back then--what a great coach, what a game to remember. We all saw a sports classic that night.
I'll never forget being there, feeling like crap for making the trip to Washington until those magical moments where BU came to life and never gave up. greatest game ever!
I was at this game sitting beside the BU fan section. One of the greatest hockey games I've ever seen live. I wish Gary Thorne would start announcing the Frozen Four as well as hockey again. Epic voice.
This is great stuff if you are a BU fan ! BU goes down 3-1 with 4:08 left in the game, after being up 1-0. BU had already "Burnt the Boats", but Miami of Ohio took almost all the wind out the Terrier Sails ! Almost all the wind... I love how BU head coach don't even sweat being down 3-1 with only 4:08 left.
This was the craziest ending to a game that I think that I've every seen in hockey, with the 2 goals in the last minute and especially the game winning goal.
Before I say anything, let me say I'm a BU fan. There are so many things about this video that you notice after watching it so many times. For example, the puck takes a BU bounce at 5:27. Colin Wilson could have been called for a hand pass at 5:42. Higgins gets a piece of the puck before passing it to Gilroy at 8:02. There are just so many little things that went BU's way that helped them win the game. Also, watch Adam Kraus (the backup goalie on the right side) in the celebration. Hilarious
It was a great effort by BU they didn't quit and it paid off to bad for Ohio if they would have kept there head and the game they could have easily won that game way to go BU
BU definitely had some negative karma redirected at them after O'Connor let one slip through the 5 hole against Providence in the final. Even still, this was my graduating year -- and I'm pretty sure I've never screamed louder than when we tied it up. The GW was the icing on the icing.
It's hard to understand how boring soccer is so popular while a lightning fast game like hockey isn't. This game was incredible and it's not a rare occurrence for hockey to be exciting. And no vuvuzelas!
great game! I remember a few years back when northern michigan played bu that went into triple overtime. nmu won 8-7 I believe. I don't think it was frozen four rather ncaa div 1. that was THE best college hockey game ever! Amonte was in that game, so was Drake.
OmG...wow...u should have seen my Skates...I used my bro's cause my feet grew an I was on the very 1st team for girls but they stuck all of us to get her...an I was really really lil like 12 Orr 13..so plus it was 4 in the morning an wee got to do this where the Bruins pratice and I was in love w/ Sanderson...but I got 2 meet Mr. Roberto Ovako. Woooooow...weeeeee Eye could only stand it for a year.
The end of this game was kinda a mistake on the count of Miami, they should have called a timeout and let Boston settle down also, instead they let the Miami line freak out and give up the last goal on a bad case of NOT CLEARING THE CREASE! Thought I would put my thoughts out there, anyway, congrats Boston!
@BostonBeatdown33 What are you on my back for? I hate soccer. It's incredibly boring. I love hockey, and this game was one reason why. It was a fantastic game.
@elginsweeperfan me 2. me and my dad were leaving when they scored 2 be down by 1 then stayed till the end. when they tied it i was f***** happy. but when they won it i was so happy i almost pissed my pants
