By the way, funny thing I noticed... The image at 0:15. It's not just someone holding a controller to a game of Dota 2. Look in the bottom left corner, next to the minimap, that looks like a streamer's camera. He's watching a STREAM of Dota 2 while holding a controller like he's playing.
"OK, DAVE!" No one understands when I tell them this is my favorite Dunkey quote until they watch this video. In a sea of golden Dunk quotes it's truly platinum.
Hey Dave tried his best. He's lived a hard life. It's not easy having no surname. He can't fill out forums. He can't open a bank. People look at him weird when he says "No I'm just Dave". People have to call him Mr Dave which just sounds weird. You can't get his attention when he's in a room full of Daves. Hell, I bet he couldn't even get a job. All these last name biases in the workplace holding poor old Dave down. Imagine his surprise when Ps: Extreme magazine called him back with a job offer. Then Dave's first day on the job he had review Bubsy 3D. Now Dave wanted to make a good impression and not lose his Job, so he took the safe route and gave it a 93%. Smart moves dave. Who knows where Dave is now. Nobody really knows since he has no last name, so you can't google him...
I had this game. One of the few games in which I made it to the last level. I absolutely adored this game for some reason and was very heartbroken when my mom gave it away. It must have been cheap, because my mom only bought us cheap and obscure games. We also had Croc : Legend of the Gobbos (which I absolutely loved), Pandemonium!, and Gex.
"The gameplay is repetitive and unforgiving, the controls are stiff and make the game unplayable, the soundtrack makes me want to shove used tampons in my ears to block out the 'music'. The joke are the one dim light in the darkness, but they're still so bad that my little cousin won't laugh at it. And he laughs at everything. I rate this game a 9 / 10 it has a little something for everyone" - IGN
*Fun fact:* The composer for Bubsy 3D had to play the game non-stop to have the music he had to make for each level fit perfectly. As you can see, he inadvertently showed his descent into madness as the levels went on... To this day, he has been in a psych ward with no signs of recovery.
The prestigious Gold Dunk Award, I can't believe he finally gave it out, the developers at the DVD copy of Shark Tale must be kicking themselves for not trusting in this goldmine.
Come on Dunkey. Clearly you’re nitpicking and biased. These are the guys that made Days Gone. How could they drop the ball on this one? I give the review a Golden Award out of 10. It has a little something for everyone.
did you know that the lightning guy at 1:15 was actually originally the 18th Angel from Neon Genesis Evangelion, but Hideaki Anno thought it was just too terrifying for the series so he sold the rights to the developers of Bubsy 3D for the rights to put Bubsy in The End of Evangelion movie as the final ultimate boss and the destroyer of all of existence. Ultimately Bubsy was cut from the film at the end of post-production because he too was determined to be simply too horrifying for audiences.
You are right man...I would prefer those 2 games...cause I can't remember which game Dunkey is in it. Cause there is a literal donkey in that game as the final boss.
"There is truly nothing more horrific than realizing that if you miss that jump, you have to play Bubsy 3D even more now." This is honestly one of the best quotes from any Dunkey video.
I am Dave. I made that review. Dunkey if you can't appreciate true art, then you are truly lost and there is zero hope for you. May Bubsy 3D have mercy on your soul.
I actually had this game as a kid and that sun enemy gave me anxiety. It's weird because this game makes me a bit nostalgic even though it's not great and I don't know another person on planet earth that has played it other than Dunker.
Saying effort was made is an affront to Bubsy 3D, any true game designer recognizes that the developers forgot to finish the game until six hours before the launch of the game.
Man I have to say Bubsy 3D was one of the greatest games of all time. I mean just think about how revolutionary the graphics were. Man. They really thought outside of the box with the color choices and textures. And that masterpiece of a soundtrack? Have mercy. They honestly created some of the best tunes in videogame history. Especially as you noted how it is like a descent into madness at the beginning. Its just so deep and really brings you along with Bubsy's journey so we can all recover from madness together. No wonder this game got the Gold X Award. The control scheme is the icing on the cake - regular Mario 64 controls would be way too easy (as most 3d platformers of the day were), so Bubsy 3D instantly brings the difficulty up a notch with cutting edge tank controls that can challenge even the most skilled of gamers. Everyone knows this game has practically infinite replay value since the gameplay experience never gets old. And if that wasn't enough, there's also a hilarious cat and mouse mode so you can descend into madness with your friends. But don't think you can run this on anything as you'll need the latest GTX 4090 Ti to run this puppy. If only the team stayed together long enough to make Bubsy 4D. Then again it would have been too awesome for anyone to bear. We can always dream I suppose.
@@quiringuenther6594 I understand what you are trying to explain, however 93% equates to .93 which then means he gave it a .93 out of 5. Not 4.65 out of 5. In that case he would of said 93% times 5 to get 4.65.
"Bubsy 3D 2: Bubsy Visists the James Turell Retrospective," however, is a universally lauded masterpiece. Even Dave himself went so far as to give it a 94.
The story of this game is heartbreaking. A lot of people don’t realise that the game only turned out like this because it was developed at a time when the only 3D platformers were Tomb Raider and Jumping Flash. They didn’t go for Mario 64 style movement because that game only released two months before the release of Bubsy and it was too late to change it. Danno the Artist made a great video talking about the nitty gritty and it honestly almost made me cry.
ok but is anybody gonna point out that dunk played bubsy 3d 2 before the original. only a master can play the sequel first and still understand the bubsy timeline
Bruh, my parents bought me this game when I was little. When you're a child you can often play games even if they're crap as they just keep you entertained. I just remember playing this and there being nothing to do, all you did was run around. There was no clear objective. Despite barely playing it I somehow still remember it.
