@@spookyscaryskeletons578 purgatory is between heaven and hell. My implication with the joke is that clawing your way through the nine circles to get to purgatory and then going through purgatory to get to heaven is easier but longer method of the hell to heaven journey rather than trying to beat Ghosts n’ Goblins on Legend, which while sounds easier actually isn’t. Because everyone is bound to have played Dante’s Inferno by now.
Clearly, this is not the donkey of Peurto Rican descent that holds such a record, but instead a body double sent by the Groundhog's Day organization after quietly disposing of the true Dunk.
This game was designed to eat your dad’s bank account; luckily you only paid $30 for the whole game, I probably lost a house down payment during the arcade days…
Solaire what the fuck are you on about? This game wasn't designed to eat your dad's bank account. This game was NEVER in the arcades. It's a Nintendo switch game first, and then was later ported to the other consoles, and to PC. At no point was it ever an arcade game. It was only ever a home game. So once you buy it, that's it, you don't need to spend any more money on it. Did you think this was a remake of the old ghosts and goblins games, or something? Lmao it's not that at all, it's a brand new game in the series. It's never existed as an arcade machine. It only came out last year anyway (i.e. it came out for the first time in February 2021, mid-pandemic, so of COURSE it wasn't in the arcades, because who would make a game for arcades when most of the world is quarantining at home and so they can't go to arcades to play new games?)
@@duffman18 Is it possible they might be referring to another game in the same series which was on arcade? As hard to conceive as it may be, it may not be reason enough to be so abrasive about it c:
You get gamer PTSD, and even after months of therapy can only handle Kirby games, you try a classic Sonic but as soon as you see Dr. Robotnik you throw the controller down in horror and pull the power cable out of the console
@@Darskul of course but it became mainstream from angry video game nerd. He said things that almost everyone felt at the time of playing a game and if you haven’t, now you know how someone felt playing that game.
But remember, it wouldn't have happened this way in Killbutt, but of course in Killbutt the only controller available was the Switch Joycon wheel so not many people actually played through Killbutt actually.
The best thing is when you think you beat the game but find out you need a special weapon to beat the final final boss and have to play through the entire game again.
Yeah and it was his brother playing with his hands tied behind his back while juggling with his feet, obviously the world record holder of bowsers big bean burrito would never lose on such an easy game
Fun fact:My dad played this when he was a kid,he loved it so much he beat the game on a emulator for me,with mouse and keyboard.Which makes my dad better than the all mighty dunkey.
Slav Eagle what the fuck are you on about? This game has only been out for one year (as I write this post, in February 2022). When you made your comment it had only been put for a few months, so how on earth could your dad have played it as a kid? It came out for the very first time in February 2021, and currently as I write this comment it's February 2022, and yet your post was made 7 months before my one. How on earth can a game be played by your dad when he was a kid, when as you made this comment, it had only been out for 5 months? This is a brand new game. It's not a remake or a remaster. Except at the end of the game, where you need to get the shield bc the last boss is impervious to all other weapons. I can see why that rule wasn't included though. No one ever makes it that far.
@@dustinjones7458 Probably cuz you already have determined you like Dunkey so you'll let it pass. But if you see some random person for the first time say it you'll think its cringe.
Got it - thanks fellas. I guess I spent too much time with the double jump of Super Ghouls & Ghosts on SNES. This game looks super reminiscent of the first level on that one.
“Now if this game is making you have an existential crisis, that’s when you put it down and say... this game is too hard I need to play some donkey Kong country.”
One of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. I’m literally crying with laughter, because I’ve played this fucking game for 40 years and it still kicks my arse. Thank you for the best laugh I’ve had in 3 years.
Y’know what, man? I really admire that you remain witty and cheerful, despite the rank bullshit. I would be screaming like a banshee with a stubbed toe, and swearing like Richard Pryor. You are a better person than I am.
@@tomhomunculus I played it and there is a pattern. Also you are supposed to kill the red demon first. You can damage him only when he is charging you. So you hit him once or twice then jump over him. That's all. Later levels is where the fun begins.
@@CourageSK Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the (solely from the video) that it spawns at middle, then it moves right, middle, right, left, middle, left, repeat.
That was hilarious! I needed the laugh this morning thanks. I love how this game just tainted you and you took it in stride. I would have gone through three controllers and a new console following that brutality. Thanks for the entertainment!
"Gonna make me some pastrami pizzas or something." "Make me a 3-bean casserole!!" "Now they're spawning in potato sacks." "We gotta burrito coming in." Dunkey playing games before lunch.
This goes beyond standard NES/arcade difficulty and straight into kaizo difficulty. The original was already a game fine-tuned to shake players down for quarters and is a textbook case of old-school hostile game design.
@Dym Sohin Granny shifting, not double-clutching like you should. You're lucky that hundred-shot of NOS didn't blow the welds on the intake. Now me and the mad scientist gotta rip apart the block and replace the piston rings you fried.
Fun fact: This was the very first videogame I've ever played in my life and single handedly postponed my gaming life by 2 years. Not because it took me 2 years to finish the game but because it took me 2 god damn years to heal the emotional scars before I dared to play another video game. If you want your kid to be a gamer, have them play some fun shit like worms or something. If you want them to be someone who actually matters by keeping them away from video game addiction, have them play this garbage as their beginning point. Then also maybe bully them on how they keep dying to make sure they hate video games for good.

Yo duffman you’ve commented this on like everyone else’s comments. Irony is, you’re the muppet without the full info as these guys are CLEARLY referring to the older series entries (even if they may be confused into thinking it’s the legit same game). So wherever you’ve corrected a few people, you look like a twat because you’ve gone autistically over the top to correct people’s info where reading the context of their comments, using logic and actually knowing anything about the series would have saved that entirely. Well done.
Watching you "play" this game has been such a joy. I don't normally subscribe off 1 video but you're entertaining. Please keep trying to best this game for us. 🤣🤣🤣
It only took me 33 years, but I finally beat both loops of the original NES Ghosts 'N Goblins! And tonight I beat both in one sitting. What a great feeling of accomplishment.
It's crazy that they intentionally programmed literally every function in this game to work against you. The moving platform near the checkpoint got me wiling out 😂😂😂

This was one of the first games I remember being properly addicted to when it came out but having to go all the way back to the start of levels was truly painful but save points weren't a thing back then. A bit later Rygar came out which was perhaps even more addictive again.
It's kind of annoying that they brought back the whole "little armor guys are actually just points" thing from the original game. They replaced it with money bags for the entire rest of the series and that made way more sense, and you would confuse them for armor upgrades.
