Stoped at the Buc-ee’s in Florence, South Carolina on my way down to Jacksonville, Florida and the USS Eisenhower. Had a great brisket sandwich and even helped someone out along the way.

Cars are comparable with American’s tendency toward independence of movement. European or East Asian style high speed rail would be terribly cost inefficient in the USA because this country is so huge and there aren’t sufficient commuting routes to allow bus or rail to even come close to breaking even. The idea that America can simply adopt city and transit planning methods that work in countries whose borders were defined and routes plotted from the Dark Ages through to the Renaissance is not feasible.

fun fact when buc-ee's moved into one area they got shafted because they undercut their fuel prices below a regulatioj standard. The reasoning is buc-ees actually doesnt make much of their profit off fuel, its mostly the things inside that make up their books

Each one is different as well. The one between San Antonio and Houston sells hunting stuff, because a lot of hunters from Houston hunt that way. The one headed to Galveston sells beach stuff, fishing stuff and ethanol free gas.

Buc-ee's is GREAT!! My sister and I stopped by one, we live in MD so there are none close but we had to go to SC for a birthday. Let me tell you that place LIVES UP TO THE HYPE!!! Its massive, and has anything and everything you need on a road stop.

Im from where this originally started in lake jackson, tx. Love seeing my small town local gas station make it big!❤️ people always seem to be shocked to learn that there are store locations with only a few pumps and no souvenir shops lol.

I have several Bucees in a 50 mile radius where I am at. It's essentially the Costco of gas stations. The co-founders still own 50% of the Bucees and don't use stock just loans to expand. Even better is that the employees get a good wage as in retail. The thing you don't get a break you work your ass off.

Holy shit. Every time I think I know that America is the home of ‘big’ I see something that reminds me how much bigger things are. That store is bigger than an airport over here in the UK. I used to hate it when US tourists called things quaint but I really get why they do.

As a Texan and 20yr Navy veteran, I salute you, brother. Buc-ee's is 💯 Americana. Lastly, love those brisket sandwiches....

As a Texan that moved to the west coast, it is difficult to explain Buc-ee’s to anyone. The east I’ve come up with is that it’s Disneyland as a gas station.

Never hear of Buc-ee's until I moves to Texas. Holy cow, it's where I stop during every roadtrip. I even stop there when I don't need gas or pee, just to get try out their brisket, sausage in a stick, giant slurpies...

Glad you got to visit a Buc-ee’s… what you probably didn’t get to see was the way the place gets flash mobbed by customers… ie. In the blink of an eye, 100+ (extra) people suddenly come streaming in unexpectedly and are all gone again 10-15 mins later and you follow the last of them out to see them all piling back into several huge busses going who knows where. Lol.
