Still remember this day. 11 year old me on an early Tuesday evening in California. Neglecting my homework cause I knew this game was nationally televised and I didn't want to miss it. Was a fan of McGuire when he was with the A's. Was in the office room upstairs laying on two huge blue pillows while my sister was on the computer yelling at me to get out of the room from time to time. Sat up when he came to the plate and as soon as it left the park I just kind of sat there in awe. The media was beating this to death on TV news and radio all summer and I was just kinda glad it was over. Then I watched Barry Bonds do it 3 years later. Good times...

Oh to go back and relive that time in baseball. I am a Dodgers fan and remember following every cardinals, Cubs and Mariners game just to see them hit. So much excitement for the game

I'm 35. I was 12 when Mcgwire hit 62. Sitting in my gramdmas living room. It was the coolest thing to see as a young boy.

Is nobody talking about the fan in the outfield getting chased by security when Mark was rounding 3rd😭

Me gusto el gesto de los jugadores de los cubs, ya eso no se ve cuando alguien rompe un record y gente del otro equipo a felicitar.

Steroids aside for a moment, this was an iconic baseball moment for me a kid and Cardinals fan. Sosa and McGwire’s home run race did a lot for baseball. Good times.

I remember sitting on the bed watching this as a kid. Couldn't have been a better match up for it to happen with. Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire made that year something special.

The 94-95 strike nearly KILLED baseball, juice aside, the summer of 98 saved the sport thanks to this chase.

My TV went out, and didn't see it. The next week, myself and folk in my Brooklyn neighborhood got an apology letter from the president of Time Warner Cable!

That's bs that NYC would pull that on viewers all because it was a Yankees record?

I was there. Busch Stadium 2, upper deck just left of home plate 3rd base side for this. Every swing McGuire took, there were 1000's of camera flashes. What a night that was. The streets around the stadium were packed with people just wanting to be there when it happened.

I will admit I had a MAJOR CRUSH on Mark McGwire. It's all my grandfather's fault; he taught me how to listen to baseball while watching it.

I remember this like it was yesterday.. I was 10yrs old and I remember I was at the hospital because my Grandpop was getting surgery done on his carotid artery. The hospital had this game on in the lobby. I still remember the commercials they had for the battle between him and Sosa. "Who will hit 62, before the season is through" crazy to think that this was 25yrs ago..
