Its on bands playlist but hard times now. Cant find bass or drummer. Plans to be a producer and bring in bands real country sounds but people are brokeb who is going to concerts... Young people starting into classics now is a good sign. God bless
@@williamwarrenconkright3973 Sly County Revelers from Alberta are keeping the classic sound alive. ..as with other real country acts , just gotta dig em out
Buck Owen’s the first country artist to earn my respect with songs my heart actually feels unlike the stuff today …..dosent strike any emotion like the old country classics
I'm 21 when this song hits all the radio stations in town... Feels like yesterday only.. boy all my pals were long gone.. missing my baseball teammates
I grew up playing with my daddy I go to this song it just something about it Buck Owens and the buckaroos man Elvis couldn't do it LOL, what a sound man, long live Don Rich
I'm One of the last people you'd think listen to country music,Buck Owens brings me happiness everytime I listen to his music, Dwight yoakam is also a Great musician,a lot of country musician's play a lot better than most rockers
Listening to this music now makes me yearn for the time when country music was simple yet subtle...the songs were direct yet not crude. Thanks for this video!
Don Rich was indeed awesome! The harmony with Buck was so cool. There are times in this life when 2 people are meant to work together. The fates bring them together. That is the case with these two great talents. Miss them. Norma Jean Morrissey
Not so fun fact: Buck double tracked his own harmony vocals on many of his early hits, including Love's Gonna Live Here. Close up the Honky Tonks is one of the earliest to feature Don, but listen to the studio versions closely and you'll hear lots of Buck and Buck. I prefer the live albums and ranch show versions because Don is amazing.
yeah no 1 band in 60's .even today there's no one that even comes close. Buckaroos with Tom Brumley cannot be touched. Vince Gill said so himself on interview
1964 classic. Buckaroos had Tom Brumley on pedal steel. amazing player. all original Buckaroos that time. man, what an amazing group of musicians. All still greatly missed. R.I.P. mos60
I sang my ASS OFF on this when we played this in our band. And each note was sung from experience. Sung it with memories and pain of a woman who did this to me. The only way to sing it. I know Buck woulda been proud.
That's true. These days, they think pedal steel guitar will make the song sound "country." Well, HELLO! What the heck is it anyway? There are still some country music with pedal steel these days, but not to the extent of yesterday. Many country songs these days lack a melody. Every try to whistle along with a new country song? There are pedal steel guitar players out there the world, and that would like to play gigs. I don't think producers want to call them for jobs anymore. I know there are some, but not a lot. I can't stomach new country s#$@!&t myself, so I wouldn't know if there is any pedal steel on it or not. These days, you may find steel on indy labels, like out of TX, or here on RU-vid. I have a pedal steel guitar sitting a couple of feet from me right now, so I am biased.
I love Buck Owens, but you know what, mate: if she wants to go down the pub, let her go down the pub. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
If he had never played a note on guitar and just been a singer Don Rich would have been one of the greatest of all time. Likewise if he had never sang and just been a guitar player he would have been one of the greatest of all time.
It is rumored that Mel Taylor "Ventures" fame actually played drums on this one. Someone may confirm. Mel was an amazing drummer. Decades with Ventures (and Nokie) . mos60
Love Buck Owens! A true country talent. He is missed. Do you suppose he is playing w/ Waylon, Johnny, Merle, Roy and Conway? That would be my guess! Norma Jean Morrissey
