After going 4-0 against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the New Orleans Saints fell in Week 2, and a massive brawl broke out between players in the 4th quarter. Former Saints coach Sean Payton joins Colin Cowherd on The Herd to not only share his thoughts on the chaos, but explain why this match up was the first time he truly missed being among the coaches on the sidelines. Payton also talks to Colin about Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos, who haven't quite gotten the hang of their offense. He says a similar thing is happening for Baker Mayfield and the Carolina Panthers, who have fallen to 0-2 after losing to the New York Giants.

Maybe there should be more coaches in the booth at games. With the exception of Al Michaels, who's getting up there in years, the play-by-play guys all seem to be more interested in stories about everything except the game right in front of them. Actual coaches rarely do the play-by-play. They always use ex players and coaches for the color commentary. If they could clone Tony Romo, they could just get rid of Jim Nantz, entirely.

the entire problem with the 49ers is that they made a poor trade to begin with. they should've never given up that draft capital for a number 3 pick. they were then forced to put him in prematurely due to media and fan pressure. he wasn't ready to start as qb in the nfl. so the only way for them to have a chance at winning was to over use him as basically a rb. and thus he got injured. they should've just stayed in their original draft position drafted lance if he was available, if he wasn't draft jones or fields (whoever fell to them), and developed a young qb behind the starter. if jimmy continued to play well and win resign him. if he didn't or continued to get injured, you had set up your insurance policy by developing a young talented kid behind him. this whole situation was way too big a gamble, way too complicated, too big a mess, and way too big a circus. it is the original draft trade that is the issue.
@ck7cu
@ck7cu Год назад
I candidly agree with you brother....the kid is not ready to play with the big boys. Just looking at the film difference when JimmyG is in and calling the plays compared to Trey calling the same plays. I know some players pick up things faster than others...but Trey really needed to sit back maybe a year or 2-3yrs. Forcing a player when he doesn't have full grasp of the playbook and the ability to manipulate them is crazy.
@ObayiBright
@ObayiBright Год назад
These are my thoughts exactly. I knew that 49ers were going to bungle this with the way they kept flip flopping on who to choose. I genuinely think they wanted to pick Mac Jones, who would have best suited their system. If they were looking for dual threat, certainly Fields was there and available to them. He’s played more games, and been in more big moments than any other QB in his draft class. So, the Trey Pick didn’t make sense. Not only did he not start the year of his draft, he had barely played sixteen games prior to being started. I’m no expect on QBs but one of the thing I took away from watching multiple Brady tapes is that his entire experience, especially at Michigan shaped him. He played in Big games, he was involved in a competition for starting roles, and he played with regular receivers. So, those bright lights of the NFL were never too bright for him. I get that the media sometimes make darling stories especially during the draft just like they did for Malik Willis. But anyone worth his salt in knowledge of football knows that you pick the guy who has been to battle more times than the guy who hasn’t. There’s a reason for that. PS: These Sean Payton’s Mondays are my favorite now.
@asielnorton345
@asielnorton345 Год назад
@@ObayiBright to me whomever they chose, they shouldve just stayed in their original position. anyone who watched that game yesterday recognizes that jimmy g is that teams leader. the entire team lighted up when he walked on the field. playing qb is partly about physical promise, it is more about being the teams leader. this is why tom brady and joe montana are the best qbs in history though they are very far from being the best physical prospects, or having the best arm talent. now g is injured all the time, people can question his play in big games. therefore drafting a qb wasn't a mistake. but trading three first rounders and a third was a huge mistake. they shouldve drafted the best that fell to them, which couldve been lance or jones, and developed the kid, while having the luxury to see how things went with g. this team plays better with g, no question, but they have a significant part of the fanbase and media that want lance, and they feel pressure to dump g and play someone who is far from being a sure bet.
