One of my recurring thoughts about Buddhism: People are attracted to Buddhism because they think that by following “the desireless path,” it will make them “happy.” However, the desire for happiness is itself just another desire, which one must relinquish. Tough nut to crack. I heard one guru say: The purpose of sitting is not to attain enlightenment. The purpose of sitting is just to sit.
