(21 May 2016) Buddhists in the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur flocked to the Maha Vihara Temple on Saturday to celebrate the annual celebration of Wesak, marking the birth of the Buddha.
Maha Vihara, the main Buddhist temple in the capital, is located in the suburb of Brickfields, sometimes known as 'Little India'.
Wesak Day is one of the holiest days for Buddhists.
It offers an opportunity for all followers to come together and celebrate not only the Buddha's birthday, but also his enlightenment and achievement of Nirvana.
During the celebrations the faithful pray, offer flowers and incense, and give alms to the poor in memory of Buddha.
