We are excited on this eighth day of February, to have had more than 1000 views of this channel’s videos. Even more excited are we that 97 people have taken the time to subscribe to the African Lure Craftsman... Just THREE more before we hit one of our milestones... One Hundred! Greg had promised that if the channel made it to 100 subscribers, he would shed his modern-day attire, dust off his Zulu leopard skin skirt, don his feathered headdress and perform a war dance for us! Regardless of whether he dances or not, we have some exciting lure builds planned for the coming weeks and months and are frantically planning some fishing trips to “test out” the creations. At the very least, the channel seems like a really good excuse to go fishing... So, thank you all for your interest and support, and kind comments. It is humbling to share ideas and the detailed work of lure crafting through this platform, and know that those following us enjoy and appreciate the effort.

Carping mad John many thanks for the kind words and apologies for the late reply! I've been otherwise engaged of late. I wish you the best with your venture of making lures. It's such a fun hobby!

Wow! Fabulous video. I have been making Wahoo lures for about 5 years and use many of the same techniques as you present in your videos. I make my lures in two pieces and glue them permanently after shaping. Do you have a video on how you add the side fins and gills?

Hi Allan. Not sure how I missed this message. Having spoken recently I know you found the video about fin and full detail. Your work is fantastic!

Hi from Texas. I have been making lures as a hobby and i enjoyed every bit of this video and the information that you have shared. i plan to watch more of your videos. But i had to keep the voluke down because i am watching at work. But what was the name of the foil that you used and where can i find it?

You gonna show how you paint your lures ?
@africanlurecraftsman1712

Yes Steven. Between power outages and some pretty horrible weather while a cyclone went by, the painting videos were slightly delayed. Take heart though, a new video on the Ripstick will be up later today.

Many good videos , what is the best varnish I can buy in Europe ? 🤜🏻🤛🏻💪🏽🎣

Thanks for the support. If you're going to use a varnish instead of an epoxy resin then I would go for a 2K clear coat which will spray through an airbrush at the right viscosity. I use this for bass lures and other freshwater applications where fish aren't as hard on the lure as most saltwater species may be. I also use it as my clear coat over foil before I paint and epoxy coat my saltwater lures. 2K should be available from any good auto paint supply shop. Be cautious and wear breathing protection when you spray it.
