AMEN!!!! My favorite guitar players are almost all black! And so is my right hand man at work Antowne. You'll have a hard time getting racism fired up around me.
Unbelievable night. Buddy's birthday party. Was lucky enough to be there. Didn't know Stevie was going to be there till we got there. Just amazing jamming into the night. Stevie was all smiles all night!
Absolutely incredible. I love the way Stevie talks with his guitar. No words needed. He was the best!! He absolutely gives the highest respect to his heroes on stage. Doesn't matter if it's a big or small stage. Best guitar player imo and the most humble person. What a loss. It still affects me til this day.
I totally agree. Some of his songs without lyrics, during his playing I kind of make up what the guitar is saying. I don’t sing outlet or anything but to me sometimes the guitar really does seem to be talking.
I saw his behind the music on VH1 I believe. He had been clean and sober there at the end and he was getting ready to take TF OVER. He talked about being happy and free due to his found sobriety. Scary good who knows if he didn't get on that plane but IMO he's known far and everywhere for being the best. The of your comment that inspired mine was the way he said I'm sobor with genuine happiness he then let his guitar say what sober feels like to him and everyone understood. The instrument that could say it better than the voice. SRV is legend.
@@carlwalker9635 In fact Buddy Guy usually introduced Stevie Ray Vaughn as his white son, when they toured together. So what you see here is Daddy and Son in the blues music playing together
That was my JFK moment, in other words I still remember that day. He was touring with Eric Clapton and at first they didn't know which helicopter crashed his or Clapton's. I know it sounds mean but we were all hoping it was Clapton. Stevie was the most natural guitar player I ever saw, and was just getting a handle on his drug problem.
The greatest thing about Stevie, is He never forgot where he came from. He always hell The upmost respect, and love. for the great that came before him. Some of it might be due to who he was. some of it might be due to Albert King, Muddy waters playing with him when he was 14.
*SRV* is a legend in his own right. By 1989 he'd been sober for a year and had just one year to live. So good to see~if only for that brief time~that Stevie finally found some peace RIPSRV+
I love the unquestionably clear and apparent and immense amount of respect Stevie has for buddy guy in this. He plays it cool and nuanced and subtle despite the fact that he could have slayed thru that entire song perfectly. He was there to compliment buddy’s performance. True musician and class act.
Sure it can...just another couple of lost souls. By that I mean sellout losers. Thanks for the chills, but now its time for you to rot. Heavy price to pay, but sorry. NO REFUNDS! Sheeple, Sshhh... Sometimes its just better to play for your friends. Should have spoken up, instead of suckin that dirty teet. Good riddance.
@@brianjoseph2303 What the fuck are you talking about? Two legends are playing and you have the audacity to question them. Brian Joseph...Go fuck yourself, you have no life...and no soul!!!!
Saw Buddy this summer opening for Steve Miller. The only problem was he didn't play nearly long enough. He knocked the motar right out of the bricks. RIP SRV.
@@tommywilliamsjr.697 I absolutely was recording this. I’m “that guy” in this instance! If I could show you pics on this YT platform I can show you the actual tape and equipment that I used and on top of that I can que it all up and play some random parts of the show just to prove that I actually am “that guy” LOL! Back then it wasn’t such a big deal to the bands. They knew we could never put out a sellable competition piece of recording. MCA had a lock on all of the money making tracks. It’s great to actually meet a couple people that have the benefit of my hard work. By the way, BOOTLEG is such a dirty word! LOL! I was actually set up in plain sight of everyone in the stage crew and they knew what I was doing.
No two people have more pure fun singing and playing the blues than these two. You can just feel the good time they're having. Stevie answering all of Buddy's questions with his guitar. Damn, that's blues. And when Buddy plays, you can hear without a doubt his influence on SRV. Sure wish i was in that audience.
Stevie is my hero. He's that bigger than life story and legend I grew up hearing about. I love Buddy Guy, and his admiration of Stevie make both men so meaningful. I read Buddy's book a couple months ago, and his respect for SRV, even though it was a short window they had, is beautiful. The 4:17 mark of this shows such great friendship, and I'm so happy for this clip. Long live the blues, as it is the foundation to most music. " And if you don't like the blues, you got a hole in your soul."...
It's amazing how many greats show Stevie so much respect. It's like "the man has arrived." There is a very long list of the greatest players that seem magnetically drawn to him.
Saw buddy at Byron bay Bluesfest and the man still has it!!! What an entertainer his voice is better than ever strong and healthy with sharp chops, played for nearly 2hrs what a legend at 87👌❤️
Buddy's got those hard-ass kickin' blues pipes! He can sing it. He's so good live! He gets the crowd into it. It's good to see SRV too...RIP. Great Post!!! Thank you.
Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan are a killer combination and they got the blues sounding so freaking awesome 🎉🎉. The blues are the best just what led up to rock and roll
Nick Korte Yup! It's in one of the biography's I read about Stevie. Stevie smoked all the way up until 88, this is in 89. He wanted to get rid of all of his vices. He quit the drugs and alcohol, so smoking was the last real bad thing he had left to conquer. Just did a quick wiki search and Nicorette gum was approved by the FDA in 84.
Nick Korte I'm the same way with stupid vaping. Never smoked cigarettes a day in my life, but someone told me vaping gets rid of headaches, which it does. That's why I started it. But now it's to the point where I just do it because it's a habit and like you, it gives me something to do
wish the radio stations played more of who these legends influenced and not umbrella umbrella unbrella umbrella so much. and who the fuck cares about bubbe gum music....If parents would stop buying their kids that crap maybe the radio would be have decent music on it like it use to.
I saw buddy in a small club in Ohio right before "damn right I got the blues came out"....he was on fire. He was playing Jeff beck, Hendrix, clapton, etc. and he was finishing songs..... from start to finish. He was playing serious blues like this too. best show I've ever been to. Rock on buddy!
My heroes Stevie and Buddy. This is beautiful. Pure Joy and Pure Soul. So glad I found this and thank you Buddy Guy for this channel. Especially they these trying days if this virus. Stay safe and Healthy. God Bless everyone.
This definitely helps take some of the sadness away that this day brings me every year. Thanks for posting even more of this epic performance! Hopefully one day we'll get to see the whole thing.
Saw Stevie 4 times , first time cost $2 , best 2 dollars I ever spent , saw Buddy for free ( at SIU Carbondale ) , best free I ever spent . Wish I'd been at this one !! Miss ya' Stevie , gotta' go catch Mr. Guy !! Long live the blues .
Buddy Guy & Junior Wells. Around that same year. One helluva show. SRV, never witnessed him, but I got all his tapes, records, VHS you name it. Thanks for posting.
As well he should. Stevie was a very humble guy, and even as good as he was-- he knew his place on stage and always showed proper respect to the greats. It says a lot about Stevie that Albert King liked him, that was a mean mf-- he didn't like anybody, and he gushed about Stevie. Talked about him like a son.
Antes cuando era niño, solo tenía el audio de estas obras maestras, leyendas que zaapaban juntos y verlos ahora es como si volviera a nacer. Leyendas Eternas !!!
Saw Stevie at the old lady on Brady theater in Tulsa was definitely a religious experience Edgar Winter opened the show we lost a great one RIP BROTHER
The incredible respect, admiration and love SRV had for Buddy ran so deep. 🎸Buddy was just so awesomely humble. Mad respect for the 💙. Stevie was just taken too soon.✌ The world could use a SRV, Tx Storm, these days. 🌀 The 🌎 has the blues.
Starts out as "Champagne and Reefer" but turns into "She's 19 years old" so glad I got to see both of these legends but not together. Saw Stevie in 1987 and Buddy in 2013.
That is easily one of the best blues jams ever !! I really miss SRV. R.I.P. brother ! You'll never be forgotten. Buddy's 87 this year and I sure he misses you too.
Both Buddy & Stevie had those great shit eating grins that could light up the room & bring a smile to your face & heart... & play the blues to make you laugh & cry! Can't believe those 10 thumbs downers - are their ears & souls encased in concrete?
this makes me soo happy and really sad at the same time. i really wished stevie was around, and be amongst people like john mayer and all the other guitar legends out there, to see how much of an impact his life has been to all these people. stevie ray vaughan is a legend, i hope people will not ever forget him
