More expensive baits usually have better overal quality and action, cheaper baits mostly run off to 1 side etc.

@@paling1872 cheap lures might have brittle hooks that rust quickly. Cheap crankbaits I never buy as they probably won't have wire going all the way through so if a fish bites into them or breaks them, the hook beaks off and is stuck in the fish. Quality crankbaits have wire going all the way through and the fish will still be on if it were to break.

The traces are far too small I threw them in the bin! About 7 inches long! I’ve always made my own traces anyway but the rest of the gear isn’t bad. I’ve still got most of it somewhere.

I got my biggest pike 15lb 6 on a lure I found on Amazon (3 in a pack less than a tenner) 11cm lure on the first cast in a canal in Wigan. It's literally right place at right time.Pike will take anything. the ginger fisherman will prove that to you. £7 for a full set up is awesome and I'll buy it if I see it. In my opinion half the stuff he used was in same area no wonder they didn't bite because they wasn't there. He had 2 really good follows and a catch so they work. and also don't pull any shad by its tail out of a stuck packet of you don't want it rip. Cheap or not. seems like a really good buy to me. Also you can really hear the rattle in the crank/jerk baits which you don't in some of my more expensive ones

Similar thing happened with myself and a mate, I used some foil paper from a cigarette pack and caught a small pike. Still laugh about it now, oh also had a half decent roach on a piece of chewed wrigglys chewing gum😅

Hi David, Zander (sander lucioperca) and walleye (sander vitreous) are separate though similar species, tight lines old chap as we say in England.

Thats why i tend to rig up a predator rig when i am coarse fishing... when your pike fishing, you ever tried putting in ground bait? Theory is, that gets the silvers feeding, draws in the predators, so retieve over and around them spots

@@davehart1027 Been used to pike fishing from a boat in the local lakes in Ireland but obviously since the pandemic and not being able to get over there have only recently bank fished here its just finding the right lure? I've had the best results with a sea squid funny enough but I will try your suggestion thanks mate 👍

I've seen a video a guy caught a pike with a carrot he carved and put trebles on. With something like pike the most important things are lure fishing the right place and depth, get those two things right you got a good chance if the pike are hunting.

@@delwigzieful years, hadn't done much the past few years so getting back to it, had a couple of small pike at the start of the year but nothing since, few pike going far the lure but not committing to it and seen a few big ones in the lilleys and practically dropping it on there head and there not interested, just a waiting game lol

if you want people to follow your channel its a good start to try and upload a few videos, maybe some lure guides or you catching fish, its hard to get the subs without any content

You grab pike under the chin to open their mouth and keep them steady. If it's a big pike then you should kneel on the ground with your legs either side of the pike and it won't be able to thrash about too much. I don't use pliers or forceps if the hook is in deep, I use the unhooking tool with the trigger, it's brilliant.
