I still have not painted my Ranger but I have done a considerable amount of clean up and prep! I have been so busy for a year or so, working on other things, I'm sure you know sometimes your favorite project has to take a back burner for awhile! I can't wait to get more deliberate about it, I love this truck! It's my daily driver going to work, which racks up an astounding 40 miles a day to and from!! Your truck looks fantastic by the way, you should be very proud of your accomplishment!!! Thank you for your inspiration, because I need to see a very motivated and accomplished painting projects like your Ranger!!
I want to do a solid green like rustoleum army green. It's kind of a tone between olive drab and sage green. I think the reason I'll go with rustoleum is because it's likely to be around awhile if I need to buy more later. Then I want to black out the XLT badges and the grille and grille trim. My reason for picking the color is when I'm parked in the wilderness it will blend in but on the highway and city overall it is a pretty visible color, less likely to be hit. I painted an Aveo Expresso rustoleum 2x latex. It's not terrible to me I like the look but the issue with it is that it's too dark especially for a small car people don't see the thing.
Im thinking bout painting my ranger but im having trouble figuring out the door jams. Im guesing you just scuffed it up but what did you do for the area around the hinges is what im wondering. Just trying to figure put how to do mine.
Cover up with painters tape or tape and newspaper or plastic. Then go to town. I'd say make sure to cover it up though I tried not doing it, it's a waste of time if you cant cover it don't paint it unless you are trying to seal in rust so that you can get to it later. If you end up leaving the old paint too long it's pretty hard to clean after it bakes on and you might not see all of overspray doing it cheaply, that was the case for me.
