Couple things. The sheaths are real leather and the scabbard on the double edged is wood. The Honshu scabbards just have some weird finish that makes them feel like plastic but if you shine a light down it you can definitely see wood grain. And finally the handles are TPR which is a hard rubber not plastic
Thank you for having the guts to buy that kit. I was very curious and I'm glad you reviewed it so well. I've had my heart set on the bastard sword from honshu. Might buy tonight. Thanks pal!
Shinwa for what it is, is a decent quality sword even with other brands like M48 also being made by United Cutlery so for Chinese Japanese katana it’s not bad, hopefully you are also buying during their pre Black Friday sale with 20% off select brands.
The shinwa sword may have been an extra item because of the cost. I'm strictly basing this off the video being 2 months old, but for a while (especially during the holidays) bud k runs a lot of specials and when you spend as much money as we have on the Honshu Mystery Box you will likely get whatever the best discount or highest free item / gift. So I'm guessing because of the amount of money that you spent on the box there was a promo at the time and that's how you ended up with the shinwa sword in the Honshu box :) appreciate the video man🤘
Whoa! I gotta admit, I'm a little green of envy right now. Pretty awesome blade you got there. You didn't receive my favorite, the broadsword, but the "double"-edged one is quite beautiful and I'm thinking of getting it myself, unfortunetly I will not getting the damascus one even if it is a beauty. Great entertainment! I'll have to check out your other videos. Good day and God Bless.
Both Honshu and Shinhwa is manufactured by United Cutlery so maybe the reason why Shinhwa was included in there is because it is probably the sister company to Honshu kinda like Spyderco and Byrd still it does throw you for a loop when you are expecting one name brand
That second one was the "Double-Edged Katana" ($129), so a little more value than the Wakizashi. You didn't get any of the 3 I was hoping you would: the battle axe, naginata or kama. If you get out and hack down some small trees or pumpkins or whatever, the fun was worth the cost. Stay well, brother.
Honestly not a bad haul. You are correct they are not the gelreatest items in the world but they are not too shabby either. I definitely you got your money worth as ive seen far far worse mystery boxes from BudK
We humans buy so much stuff we don't need when we like it or think it's cool. Not my cup of tea but the swords are beautiful and really make you think about the history of when these were actually by people and on people. Pricing just goes to show you how much profit margin these items actually have if they can bundle them in this way and still make money.
Bro you didn’t get the wakizashi which is $109.99 you got the Damascus double edge which is $199.99 also the mystery box comes with 5 Honshu items so you had to have bought the shinwa sword separately or got lucky they sent it to you on accident because you got 5 Honshu items.
You can carry it because of the recent changes to ohios knife laws. I can’t remember the exact statute but it took effect in I want to say April of 2021. Not the open carry laws.
@@OhioBladeandCutlery It was somehow even more offensive that they made it Spartan style. Put like a giant plastic butter knife in there and fill it with pixie stick powder. At least then I'd laugh when I opened it, and have a blue tongue as I threw it away.
i kept cringing when HE TOUCHED THE BLADES you are not supposed to touch blades unless they are stainless steel the oil from your fingers can cause the blades to rust if your going to do this please properly clean the blades
