Great video Noah and I very much appreciate the way you represented us, the facility, and the Refuge! I wish I would have known you were there so we could have visited. Haven't talked to you since Cheyenne and we never did do that interview. If you still have my number, give me a call. Stuart
I watch a small cattle rancher who likes to keep it low stress as well. I think it was him who referenced Temple Grandins work. It just seems more humane.
I loved seeing the sale!!! Reminds me of the years we lived By the Federal Reserve & drove about 6 miles along the bison pastures. I miss seeing them every day! 💜
Great show as usual! I got hooked 22 yrs ago when we worked at a private conservation herd / ranch. I knew I wanted to raise them. I worked at a horse ranch in high school. I trained / broke 3 horses. They weren’t the same after. I broke their free spirit. There was a mustang that came from the west. No one could ever get close to it. No one liked, it you can’t ride it. It was something to see a real wild horse. The bison have that same wild won’t be broke demeanor unlike an angus cow. I want to do companion species. Leaning toward prong horn if I can get a special license. My future fence builds will all be elk height(our main native mammal in IL). Looking at adapting my current fence to work as well. My wife pointed out the deer are out there already and they won’t be able to travel in here with pronghorn wires added. Future fences will have more exterior gates open when cell is empty,
Have always wanted to go there for the auction, couldn't make it again this year. Would like to go to the one up north. Probably won't make it either. Glad you got to make it too this one. Another great video. Wado!
I understand that ppl that buy need to see them. But isn't this adding stress to them. Specially the Mama's with red dogs .. they just look so stressed out .. have a amazing day and Blessed weekend .. stay safe healthy stay positive always make it fun Love from Tucson Arizona 💗🦎🌵🌻🦉👩🌾🌵🦎💗
I understand your concern Laurie. They have to be corralled up and there is some stress involved in that but running them through an arena is not really adding on much more. It is just one piece of the corralling process that is necessary to their modern day existence unfortunately.
@@BrokenArrowBison 🦬🦬🦬🦬 Right I get it . And I have to agree with u as u said about ppl going through the national parks where they roam free . They don't need to get out and so close to them ... More times then not it don't end well .. SMH 🙆♀️🤷♀️ would think after seeing what could happen they would stop trying ..
Noah keeping that awe for the Buffalo I think instills a certain amount of respect and healthy fear. I think it keeps you on your toes. You can respect them but understand because of their wildness taking them for granted is not wise.
That was an interesting part of your story, Noah. I imagine in 10 years, you've gone to quite a few auctions. Do people go to auctions to just see the bison? I just wonder if there are people who go to the auctions just to see the animals without having any desire to raise bison?
Absolutely. I started going to them myself before we even had land just to see what I was getting myself into. The sights and sounds definitely drew me in! 😃
That’s for the feedback Larry. They are actually called both Buffalo and Bison. The term Bison is not even scientifically correct either because they are technically “Bison Bison”. The term Buffalo honors the native people and there heritage. www.kansasbuffalo.org/
