That’s a reason that it should be taught to the younger generation, that you never give up when things aren’t going as u planned it. Go back to the planning board an restructure your plan. It’s gonna come to fruition if you’re doing or that you have been doing the right things.
Went to high school with her. Always was a sweet person. The city did her so dirty. I cried when she got a SMALL part of her just dues. She is owed millions for what they did to her.
No amount of money can settle the score. For her, it’s about justice and less about money. Justice is a goal that must be continuously for and such a worthy goal does not need prizes. That’s what makes her a good person.
Definitely agree! But I believe she feels that its more about getting it right than becoming rich because at this point in the world. Its more about the justice than the money. God will handle the rest, but she should. She is entitled to the full justice and backdate of her pension and get more money from her pension because of wrongful termination.
I think its very telling that her partner wasn't reprimanded in any way for punching her in the face for trying to intervene. But she was terminated for "using unwarranted force" against her partner while trying to save a man's life. I hope God blesses this strong woman for the rest of her days.
And she got hit by her fellow officer. It's crazy, she also struggled financially and it affected her family. She should get some compensation as well as her pension. But the main thing is she did the right thing and saved a man's life.
Her ex partner had many complaints about abuse on many and it's sad that they aren't telling the whole story but only the race narrative. This man had complaints going back 20 year's and they did nothing.
She stood up to an angry "Man" to save a life and was rewarded with a slap on the face. Black women are courageous and strong. They will always do what is necessary. If you don't know, ask somebody. Thank you my Sister.
@@alexanderv7702 The tax on her family has already been paid in full! The loss of income support TAXED the whole family when a professional mother of 5 was ONLY doing her job "protecting and serving!!!!
@@cidadaohoplita6239 With a name like that you almost black, could have been you in that chokehold chico, these cops got the black filter on their glasses turned up to max.
This makes me sick on how she was treated. She should sue the city and get more money for her mistreatment. Thank God she had the courage to step in and save that mans life
They need to also vacate the judgment that the other cop received after HE sued HER for defamation. Disgusting and Buffalo should be embarrassed that it took so long to correct this.
We're making news alot lately. Lt. Delong. Martin Gugino getting his head cracked open. Ms. Horne. Buffalo police has been corrupt. This whole area. Even over to Rochester where they killed Daniel Prude. They're even killing ppl downtown in the holding center.
@@eltorocal lol idk. He used to hang in nyc tho. But there's a following here. Two of the captured insurrectionists were around here. One in cheektowaga, one in amherst. ( 2 close suburbs)
I live in Buffalo and remember how infuriating this was when it happened. I am beyond happy to see she has been vindicated but she certainly deserves more than that pension!
As a retired police officer in the UK I am appauld at this woman officer's treatment for doing the right thing. Her bravery stands out at the highest level, knowing she may receive a backlash from her colleagues afterwards. Not only should she have her pension reinstated but also the loss of pay for her and her family should have been given, for the trauma they had to go through. I wish her well for the years to come knowing she can walk through life with her head held high. She sets an example for new recruits of why we join the police in the first place, which is firstly to protect life of all those in need of help no matter the situation or who they are.
We citizens need to do the same when we see this racist and fascist abuse, anyone out there. That man can be someone's father, brother, or grandparents. She saves his life what many didn't for Mr. Floyd when those haters were shocking him. Monsters hope they die in jail. Enough with the police corruption and violence.
I love that she didn't give up. They used her as an example to other officers to not go against their own even when wrong. She stood up and kept her will to do the right thing. Thank God 🙏
2:10 “Last October, Buffaloes mayor signed the ‘duty to intervene’ law. Which would require police to step in if a fellow officer used excessive force. It’s legislation Horne helped write.” She’s a hero in my book! Glad a judge ruled to get her pension.
Yes she is and it's a shame that it actually took her own heroism and self-sacrifice to mandate something that should never have required a mandate in the first place.
why? shes got 800,000usd waiting for her and can retire early if she wants without working another day... no reason to pity , it all worked out for the suspect and her
@@TheNaturalwoman221 Because for longer than a decade she's been under massive stress. The incident occurred in 2006, after her termination and loss of pension she had to become a truck driver to earn an income. Sure 800,000.00 is great but she should get/have more simply due to undue stress for longer than a decade.
@@TheNaturalwoman221 People who have been in jail get more when vindicated. It's her whole life being undone, that pain is worth way more than that tiny amount. She was charged for doing the right thing and for the same person she stopped to be convicted just months after the incident that got her terminated means the decision should have been overturned then and there. Once the dirty cop was discovered. She deserves atleast 5 million.
Finally! She saved a life and was punished for it. I hoped for years that she would prevail but I didn't think it would happen. Thank God for good people.
This lady wasn't bitter, she was BETTER... Took her experience and helped put into law against officers that use excessive force. Man this was so inspiring in so many ways to never give up. God bless her.
I wish I would have had the courage but I thought it best to forgive and go on. No reason given, just "personal" is what I was told. I had just recieved EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR AWARD TOO ! How does this get overlooked ?
Actual it better than a law against those officers that use excessive force as those technically already exist. its a law against DEPARTMENTS the punish those that try to stop the excessive force, it shields the good apples from retaliation
Hi, I get what you're saying but you should look deeper into what they did to her over the course of this time. The harassment and threats she got. Not to mention being fired and not being able to find work and support herself and family. This was far from a stand strong and feel good story. I remember seeing videos of her crying and breaking down in fear. This past year and all the events that have been happening are the only reasons she is able to get to this point. If none of that happen, she'd be still fighting for what she deserves and most people wouldn't even know her story.
@@shareefshakuur2729 I agree. Unfortunately, some sacrifices were made for changes to occur. I just hate to see that in 2021, we are still fighting for the right just to be considered human with feelings and emotions.
Even though she is a woman and doesn’t have any balls she has more heart than any other man on the force because they wouldn’t have said anything or done anything at all.😡😎
The Heavenly Father was working on this unjustified action against Officer Holmes I think that's her last name. She went through a Test of strong Faith and Patients. I am a true believer in : Good things come those who wait. Oh yes! 💪👍💯✊💜💜🌹🌹🌷🌻
The sick part is he kept doing it on several occasions after that incident happened... these people all over the world have felt entitled to killing us because they have a badge and are protected..
Some not all train your kids on manner elegance and in the ways of your ancestors who built these civilizations and you won’t having any issue beside too much praise and honor harsh but it’s the truth I’m sick of hearing and seeing the same stories when your normalizing weird behaviors this is just the truth it’s starts at home and with the people knowing the law can’t fix a system when you know nothing about it
I remember that story and remember thinking how she was a hero back then. She was a hero then, and she is a hero now. God Bless you Ms. Horne !! I'm so happy for you.
Id venture a guess and say not so many feel good stories like this happen day to day that they hear about. I mean, this was 15 years in the making, so for the past 15 years and for the next forever, this story cant be used. Idk how often something that was this public initially gets fixed later, but they do share other happy ending stories from time to time. Its just not every day that something extraordinary makes headlines because either it didn't happen that day, or the news didnt hear about it, i guess.
God doesn’t make mistakes, we make em ourselves. what is wrong with yall? I bet u if God killed everyone we thought were bad, we would still curse him assa God who doesn’t grant freewill
I’ve heard of this officer and she’s a breath of fresh air. She’s the definition of what an officer should be. It’s an awful shame it took another injustice to have this reversed.
This made me cry. Because it took a man to die before they said it's okay for a black person to step in for another black person. By the first decision we know they're saying black official mouth and she didn't and she felt to keep her mouth and hands open.
Not just doing the right thing but then when her faith was tested made the law better so this won't happen IF a GOOD COP is with a cop using excessive force. STRONG WOMAN.
It's the culture of the job. The officer performing the choke hold probably had a very low opinion of the suspect. Many officers would condone maltreatment of certain suspects but this lady knew right from wrong. Standing up to, challenging and fighting the occupational culture of policing that at the very least turns a blind eye to malpractice is difficult and brave for serving officers to do.
Black police officers are caught between a rock and a hard place. They cannot brutalize and gun down white suspects and they can't intervene or stop a white police officer from using excessive force on Black people. There are different guidelines for Black and white police officers when it comes to how to treat Black and white suspects.
Pay her every dime she is owed!!! I’m so proud of her! My heart is so full. Thank you for fighting then and still fighting! You are everything we need!!!
It's not just "a few bad apples," actually many times it's a few GOOD apples and everything else around them is rotten to the core. Over the yr's I've seen this over & over again - whenever one of these good apples attempts to do the right thing the entire system turns against them & this is what happens.

"Where are the good cops?" "Why are the good cops doing nothing?" The good cops are not there because they are fired. The good cops are doing nothing because they will get fired.
If that is the case, I would rather be fired than do nothing. As long as I do not get executed or imprisoned for doing the right thing, which would be far worse than being fired, I will not regret caring to be a good policeman.

her experience is why good cops don't stand up against bad cops. From the Boondock Saints movie "Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men." This woman is a true hero, to fight for what was right.

This is where the problem stems, officers getting fired for trying to step in on other officers doing wrong. I'm glad this lady got her pension but it shouldn't have happened in the first place or taken this long to get it. The male officer should've been fired long ago and sent to prison and 4 months don't feel long enough to me.
Also he snitched on his other partners that participated in the taunting of the boys. My sons father was one of the young boys and he had to testify against them
the disgusting thing in all of this is that they have to make a law that requires officers to step in in those circumstances to stop an overzealous officer from doing someone harm
You go girl! So happy for you. In this case justice prevailed. This is the kind of person that we need more of in law enforcement. Keeps her cool and keeps 'what's right' in focus.
“. . . a use of force against a fellow officer, unjustified” as the female officer tried to step in to prevent her fellow officer from unjustifiable killing. Just let that sink in a bit. 🤔💭
It will never sink in for these cops! Until laws are pass to hold them accountable for their actions, not thing will happen to them. They will always fall back to their standard get out of jail defense..."I was fearful for my life or some other BS"! When you have an organization review themselves of wrongful activities....you will never have any sense of accountability!
@@xandrorit would appear that you lack understanding, allow me to be of assistance. This woman did her job which was to (PROTECT and SERVE) she possibly saved that suspects life as well as that officers job on that day. How much you want to bet Chauvin wishes someone had done the same for him?
What a story! She is an amazing woman. She should write a book about her experiences as a female black officer back then, this incident in particular and discuss her fight for justice all these years. I'll buy/read that book!
AND the superior officer who punched HER in the face should be charged for excessive for e on the guy whose life she saved and unjustifiable force for punching Her!!!
Agreed … Abuse or power would be the arrestable offence. Wrongful termination would be the civil action that Cariol Horne would take in another lawsuit to get the extra money, on top of her pension, she deserves.
The fact it took soo long smh this why other officers are afraid to step in... they do not wanna be this brave woman, but color doesn’t matter you say!!!
Because of what will happen they call them whistle blowers. Just look up the Baltimore cop who was gonna testify against other corrupt cops the day before the trial he was killed.
When you have to wait 15 years to be vindicated and financially compensated, most cops absolutely will not do what she did. The bad white cop that she fought was protected by to police department and the police union. It wasn’t until 2018 when he again used excessive force on multiple people did the hand of justice finally take him down. Not just a bad Apple. A protected bad Apple.
He also needs to be charged for Striking her in face. I've been following this story for A LONG TIME NOW..and *FINALLY* a wrong was righted. I'm glad she never gave up, I'm glad she had effective counsel, and I'm even glad that social media got involved.
There is probably little more that I can add that has not already been said. Cariol Horne was and is an angel. A brave and beautiful lady cop who disproves the theory held and voiced by far too many. There are good cops out there. I hope she enjoys her well-earned pension.
I can't imagine the range of emotions she's feeling. Vindicated, but also angry. All the years a GREAT COP could have been on the force, but NO! Grateful she stuck in there, and is finally getting some justice.

So you fire her for stopping excessive force because you said she was not reasonable, but later, the same officer you chose over her is sent to prison for excessive force.
