@user-qn9yh2ie2g Ture,I went to visit places related to baths in Ancient Rome and I was very shocked that the Ancient Roman baths were so big, the statues were very beautiful, I even imagined the smell of grapes and red wine, except of course for the toilets in Ancient Rome where it seemed that if you were a little bit chubby you could touch other people's ass,😆

I'm from Changchun, and I'd say the scrubbing culture in northeastern China is not because of dry cracked skin. It's because before heating and home showers became common, people didn't bathe very often, especially in the winter. It was too cold for that. Most often, people's daily washing routine just consisted of washing their face and feet, so when they did bathe, they would end up having a lot of layers of dead skin and oils and stuff that had layered up over time. This isn't centuries ago either, since the Cultural Revolution made China behind the rest of the world. I was born in 1990 and I still remember our family getting our first home shower when I was 4-5 years old, and even then, it wasn't convenient to use because it was common for the water to leak to the floor below, so if you didn't want your neighbors yelling at you, you showered only sparingly. There are also still rural communities today that don't have showers or modern heating solutions and don't bathe as often as a result. This said, Chinese people don't develop BO nearly as much, and sweating in Dongbei winter is pretty rare, so it's not as bad as it sounds.

I once went to a lovely bathhouse in Dalian, It's actually a rain forest with real tropical fruits growing there next to the pool you are soaking (not allowed to pick though). There are several water slides where you can have fun. There are both indoor and outdoor pools , and pools with different themes. And the best thing is it is open 24 hours! I will never forget I was soaking in the water in an indoor rain forest while no one else but some dinosaur models was around at mid night. An unforgettable feeling.

As a boy who grew up in southern China, I was also shocked by the bathing service in northeast China. Welll actually, it really became a local culture in Dongbei. Moreover my friend who studied in Dongbei told me in most bathing centers, the average consumption would be lower than in the video. around 200-350 yuan ( 30-50 dollar). When I go back to China, I will definitely take my parents to Dongbei to experience it😄

I was just in Shenyang yesterday specifically for the bathhouses hahaha, although I went to two different ones, Pop Forest, and Qinghe Peninsula. Pop forest is pretty similar but space themed. Qinghe Peninsula is more resorty and has a whole villa section where you can rent up to full cabins with private hotsprings. The main building has a bathing section like usual, but also multiple floors of communal (swimsuit required) hotspring sections for mixed genders as well as a small waterpark and outdoor pools (the ones that are still open run with warm water thankfully) Seems a shame you didn't go to Qinghe Peninsula, as that's pretty much the benchmark bathhouse in Shenyang. If you are still in Shenyang by the time this video was uploaded, highly highly recommend. But don't book the tatami indoor hotspring room if youre staying the night, that room in particular doesnt have adequate ventilation and after using the hotspring the temperature stayed 29-30 for the day with ac on full blast. If youre going and wants to stay a night, get one of the villa area accommodations. There are small 1 br houses if you go alone or with dirk, but there are also full cabins if you have more friends!

The Dongbei bathing culture indeed is wonderful. One needs to say that this was more on the pricey side compared to other bath houses in the region, but given the standard, understandably so. 😉 As for things to do during winter: the Harbin Ice and Snow festival would be a regular choice, of course. However, I would be very curious what Wudalianchi (五大连池市), Heilongjiang province, might be like at that time. During the summertime it is truly beautiful with all the green, the volcanoes, and the lakes around. With snow and ice it might be pretty amazing. Not sure about accommodations, though.

欢迎来到我的老家! I was wondering where to find a luxury place to bath when I visit home in next Feb. Wonderful timing Amy! Can I ask if they accept international credit cards?
