I know this is really late, but I had heard at one point that the reason Airplane Kid was killed off was because he was aging a little too quickly for a character who is supposed to be immortal and ageless. This is why he had to be taken out, and Spike was brought in. Sad, but I suppose the subversion works to a degree.

Drusilla might actually be Aubrey Plaza

Did I hear that right? A saint led a "crusade" OF vampires... The ironies there are to profound to comprehend... Was it a suicide mission. Since I must assume they burst into flames when they took up the cross

Drusilla was destined to be a Saint. That’s why she has visions.

“School Hard” is flawed. But it’s a solid installment, one of the standouts from the season’s first half. While along with “Prophecy Girl” and “Angel”, it does a good job at setting up a lot of the future tone and character development. The show is always gonna be rather joke-y and semi camp btw. It certainly gets darker and more ambitious and frankly overall better. While you haven’t seen any of the top episodes. But the show always maintains a winky, blithe sense of humor. Though I suppose it frequently uses its humor better by the time we get to mid season 2.

Regarding the axe. Joyce doesn't know about vampires and all she can really see is her daughter having a fight with an unarmed man. The almost certainly disabling, but non lethal, flat side of the axe attack makes sense. It's fun to know that even if you didn't really know what was going on you guys wouldn't hesitate to use deadly force, in fact the idea of someone not doing is completely alien to you. You don't work for an American police department by any chance, do you?

I really need to rewatch Buffy one day, I completely forgot Drusilla existed. Or maybe I really shouldn't. I don't think cringeworthy 90s humour is ever going to get better in that show, tbh.
