Remember in the first episode Buffy explains how a vampire is made. First, the vamp has to suck your blood...then you have to suck the vamps blood...it's a whole "suck fest."
As a Californian, the "what do you think, 5.1?" was hilarious, because we really do try to guess the Richter scale rating right after an earthquake (that was way too powerful for a 5.1; it was at least 6.5, probably over 7). It surprises me how few people seem to get that joke. I guess it's a local thing, lol.
I have always got it, even as a Brit! But there are plenty that don't, and some people think he is jokingly rating himself on his level of camp/over dramaticness. Which would also be hilarious if he was.
re: being supposedly "way too powerful for a 5.1", you have to remember that the master is deep underground, and thus closer to the focus of the earthquake.
SMG's acting in this episode is superb. Xander is a bit creepy on the "date ask", but he comes through in the end. I absolutely think Willow's response to being the second choice is the way it should have been. Allison Hannigan also delivers an absolutely first rate performance. And as you mentioned, it does indeed get nothing but better when they actually have a budget beyond a mid-season replacement.
It so gets better :). And I feel that even with the first season being a mid-season replacement, this show is just generally So. Well. Cast. Makes up for when it trips into shortcomings.
I love that the clip of The Master asking The Anointed if it was a 5.1 earthquake got put in. It was one of my favorite jokes from The Master. Not many reaction viewers add it.
Hi. When a vampire drinks sombody's blood and kills them, it doesn't turn that person into a vampire, for that to happen, the victim needs to drink the vampire's blood before dying. "It's a whole sucking thing", Buffy said in Welcome to the Hellmouth.
The Buffy series coined the term, "the Big Bad*. The term is used for the season arc enemy that tends to pop up through the season and is usually the one that an end of season battle centers around. I love this episode. Unlike some fans, I like most of season 1, but you can see on this episode where the show truly is going. Season 2 is an order of magnitude better than season 1, so buckle in, the ride is just going to keep on getting better from here.
First ever "directed by Joss Whedon" episode of TV. Also the only episode to use the Buffy theme music in the episode. They used it twice, first the Nerf Herder version during the power walk, and then a lonely piano version over the final scene.
You got into my Buffy reactor awards episode 1: Here's the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xiAA1BZlx8U.html I know I've been absent and I'm still having trouble with Buffy reactions, but I think I can do Terminator 2. So I shall be back. Oh and you got into the top three.
Yeah, that was a bad solution to the dilemma of how can they make it Xander who puts his lips on Buffy's. My headcanon is that the breath of the undead can't bring life, but the "What the Pop" videos had a better idea (ANGEL: What's CPR?).
myeck waters It's the chest compressions that are the important part of cpr. Current practice is to skip the mouth to mouth entirely if you're doing it alone. I always figured that Angel was just too embarrassed to admit to Xander that he'd never learned how.
I've always felt it would have been a better course for him to simply... not know how, because he's 250 years old and never would have needed to learn. Still crystallizes the difference between the human man and the vampire, life v death, etc. Probably thought Angel would look like a doofus though.
Even if Buffy hadn’t been revived she wouldn’t have become a vampire cos as she explained in episode one she would of had to suck the masters blood after he sucked hers for that to happen 🙈😁❤️ XxXxX
The 5.1 was referring to the Richter scale of an earthquake. Not his screaming Glory, and that's the tiny witty humor sprinkled throughout this universe of Buffy and that's one of my highest faves about it
I realized when making the video he meant the earthquake but I thought it was the cliche of someone holding up a number out of 10 like at the olympics lol. Oh well.
For me, the Library scene is the first scene where we got the opportunity to see the true potential of the show. Season one is by far the worst season. You have some fun ahead
