In terms of power and speed the Veyron is still an undisputed king. But in terms of looks and style I think the DB9 is the best. This is my dream car. I have even concidered making a 1 to 1 model of it and putting it in the garden as an art object. One problem with that, the model wouldn't make the V12 sound.
@Collin Graves-Hubbell If you really think the veyron has porsche acceleration, you obviously have never seen it accelerating, let alone driving it. I'll just leave a nice figure here: 0-200 Km/h 7.3 seconds. There's not one Porsche that can do that, well not 2 years ago. If you compare the veyron at top speed to the mclaren f1 at top speed, you'll find that the veyron is a lot more stable. And I assume you wanted to express how badly the veyron handles by comparing it to a muscle car, but it's nothing like a muscle car lol. Hey lookatme I'm drifting my veyron... no not gonna happen. Some people just miss the whole point of the veyron.
I was thinking this must be an old video seeing as how the standard Veyron has 1001 BHP now. And I disagree with this guy below me, I think the Bugatti looks stunning.
you'd be mad to get the regular Gallardo over THAT one. People diss the Veyron so much, but if you think of it. It combines Aston/Bentley luxury, Ariel Atom acceleration, and out of this world top speed.
Actually a Veyron combines high end Audi luxury, Porsche acceleration, McLaren F1 (which is 20 years old) top speed, and muscle car handling, Not to mention the styling looks to have been done by the bosses dog.
It's surprising how much an impact the R8 still has on people after all this time. Even tho people for some reason don't call it fast anymore I still have a soft spot for the V8 version
The V8 R8 is a fast car, but its not a superhero car, for example the nissan GTR is a superhero car because most people can hop in it and go stupid speeds instantly, but the V8 R8 you have to drive it fairly hard to really get all the speed out of it. That being said i wouldnt mind owning a V8 R8 because im not a boy racer trying to roll race other cars on the freeway, imao.
Why would we want to? They hired an aerodynamicist to style it, and then slapped a horseshoe on the front. And it handles like a muscle car. However I do respect the speed record, even though it's now been taken by the Hennessy Venom.
Andy Cordell That rebuild Lotus or Venom or whatever did not take the record. Even if it did one day it's nothing but a death trap with no safety features. There is a reason why it's so light and it's not all thanks to being a rebuild Lotus. I can't even imagine why someone would even compare that car to a Bugatti. That would be if you never fathom what this car represents.
this video is actually much older, it has only been upped to youtube by autocar 4 month ago but i remember seeing it in 2007 or so when the GT-R was far from being released. Also today we already have the GT3 RS Gen2, while in this vid the Gen1 was just released, no DBS just the DB9 and no LP540 Gallardo which exists today.
The lambo sounds amazing. Italians sure know how to make a car sound great. The GT3RS gotta be the best car in my opinion if you don´t count the Bugatti. And the Bugatti, man would I want that car in my garage =)
The Veyron is a moving demonstration of Automotive brilliance, every single thing about it is incredible to get your head around, it is Concorde on tarmac
im not missing the point and yes i can READ! and yes the gt3 rs is built for the track ... . and again removing the AC is NOT lazy. an AC is pretty heavy so why should they waste some hp for it? you have to think logical. what would you do to reduce weight? build it all out of carbon? just to keep the AC which you dont need on the track?
I was driving a Bugatti in a dream last night and it felt very good. Nice handling, good acceleration, and comfortable ride. I agree with this guy very much.
I think manufacturers like Ferrari, Porchse, BMW, Lamborghini etc should make some super exclusive world class cars like the Veyron too. At least they should try. Would be so amazing.
Exactly, it's a stereotype, IE not true a lot of the time. Let me quote you: "The seats and back trunk begin to fall apart within weeks". Therefore, the fact there are so many which are many years old and still original disproves this point instantly. On top of that, the new one's barely been out for weeks and is much better built inside. I'm not American, where did you get that from?

yeah it uses some power when its ON. so thats just irrelevant (when youd want 100% out of your engine youd just have to turn it off). ACs weight a lot though which is why many "track" production cars dont have them...i mean porsche didnt even put door handles in the gt3 rs you think theyd overlook an AC system?
Damn,what a hard choice.... for fun on track id go with the 911 and for all day use id like the Aston.because of its nice cabin .ugh the bugatti is another league.....
Actually he is right..... the Veyron actually makes 987hp, not the 1001 Bugatti and VAG claim because in Europe, horsepower is in measured and gauged as METRIC HORSEPOWER, which is going to be slightly less. The 1001hp reading was a marketing thing as they could have said it makes 1000hp.... but that extra "1" makes people go crazy. Its a psychological thing.
I think what he is getting at is that your average driving enthusiast isnt gonna be doing any noticable difference in lap times with air con fitted. Especially the Nurburgring!
Besides the price, I highly doubt that the Veyron handles better than say the Porsche GT3 RS or simelar. On the Topgear testtrack it's only ~3rd or 4th dispite the it's huge power - it's simply to heavy and the suspension to soft Btw: the - imo - best car in general (price+performance (not topspeed) +practicality) is the Audi R8 V10
I'm always a bit put off by how Chris pronounces "Leggera". Sure know a lot about Italian cars except how to call them. Easy enough to forgive though. Thanks for the good work.
I'd go for the Aston because it's luxurious and comfortable for everyday use but goes like hell if you want it to. It also seems that it doesn't shout at everyone that you're filthy rich. You ca'n't really say that about the other ones. The Bugatti is just in a class above obviously. Not really even comparable to the others in every aspect.
@gnamus I'm just saying bro :) the veyron (in my opinion) is only good in a straight line. it's dampeners aren't tight enough for it's weight and the distribution is off alittle. that's my opinion. Im sur eit's lateral G's are good, just not the best.

thing with the veyron is that its got amazing top speed , but the handling isn't as good compared to the 911 gt3 or the superleggera but it is a engineering masterpiece ,
@kalimanfeoli Maybe the Porsche isnt supposed to be exported halfway around the world to a different climate. Maybe for the same reason that Noone in Europe buys a heavy plastic American attempt at a sports car that has never heard of a corner.
Bugatti for me, then i can see it and get all the rest! Tust me, insurance is scary on a bugatti. If you break the speedometer point on the dials, its usually around £1, but on the bugatti, £2,500, for something you can make at home. But still, the bugatti is an amazing machine, but by no means the best, i can think of other cars i'd rather have.
look at the cars which are 100% made for the track. you will find out that alot of them got no AC and door handles. the gt3 rs is just a "racetrack" car which got a road license and where do you miss the door handles on a track?
