No one can be prepared for the story of Bugsnax, hands down one of the greatest surprises I've seen in a game that is also made accessible to children and adults. Omne vivum ex Bugsnax
By far my favorite review team of all time… great content that’s informative and doesn’t sugarcoat the flaws… I wish some of the ‘professional’ reviewers ie ign et watched and learned on how it should be done…great job as always!
This game is so much fun and deserves a good looking at. The story was way more interesting that it deserved to be with that look and base plot, but you get sucked into the mystery and its so hard to put down. The catching aspect is just enough to be addictive without being a grind, and you are getting new gadgets at a perfect amount of time to keep it fresh. I really hope more people take a bite out of this gem so that we get a sequel. So glad to see this runs really well on the switch, it was so beautiful on the ps5 that I was worried about the power of the switch.
I didn't know much about this game, then I played it last year because it was on sale.... It is now among my favorite games of all time. Such a great experience!
I love the nighttime party scenes. All the Grumpus’ are so charming and interesting I’ve also heard that this started life as a Pokémon Snap fan game. And when they announced New Pokémon Snap, the developer changed it to the Bugsnax we all know
This game always reminded me of whacky out of brand platformers that were booming in the post Dreamcast PS2 era. It just has 'that' look despite being FPS
If someone is really meaning that this game is "too kiddy" then they, most likely, haven't played it themselves, because the game tackles pretty serious adult topics.
Brilliant game, my kids 100% completed it on ps5 and were are now on the dlc, will also pick it up for them on switch as they love it. As light hearted and camp it starts, it ends as a kind of body horror though.
I wish more current-gen games were ported over to the Switch. Seems to drop frames and the resolution and texture detail os obviously meh, but still awesome that it’s on the Switch now
Current gen would be PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X titles doubt many publishers want to spent resources on porting them or compromise the way they are designed Switch is closer to being a 7.5 gen system not a 9th generation one
@@RobertJohnLora The switch is closer to a 7.5 gen system despite it releasing on 2017 with 2015 hardware considering its outperformed by 2013 machines built on outdated hardware left in the dust by the current machines available Honestly Nintendo need to create a more capable console if they want third party support without the need for those studios to be asked to spend their own money on porting it
Played it today on Game Pass, finding it rather cute and relaxing game and so far really enjoying it. Didn't realize how much time I put in it today till I looked at my phone, I did find that streaming it on cloud gaming that it ran better than it did after I installed it on my Xbone.
Had this on PS5, my Son absolutely loved it. It is worth mentioning that there are 2 endings and 1 could be upsetting for the little 'uns. So just to any parents out there try to push for all sidequest completion before the final 'Party' for the good ending. This game was really surprisingly good. Despite how absurd the premise is, the characters are very human and the themes quite impactful. It led to some interesting conversations with my 5 year old at the time. We're gonna get stuck into the DLC tomorrow. He can't wait (and I'm not gonna lie, I'm a bit excited about it too).
Nice work! I can't buy this if gyro aiming controls aren't in, though. Same reason I can't play Zelda BotW without gyro: aiming with only right stick is too slow & clunky.
As much as i enjoy and like gyro controls (yes, it's a bummer that Bugsnax doesn't support them) but the game isn't that fast and hectic, so even the regular analog controls work good enough for me to be almost done with the main story (i currently arrived at the DLC area).
Wait did I hear that right, you can catch pokimans (incorrect spelling intentional) and then give your pokimans to NPC's for them to eat?!?! Well at least that's an interesting take on the genre...
That scene is even in the official Switch trailer. As light-hearted as it seems at first, but you'll notice along the way that the game deals with rather adult topics and i can't understand how some people call it a kids game (because they obviously haven't played it at all or not much).
Sad that Switch is too weak it can't run this indie game properly. Nintendo desperately need new more powerful hardware soon. ps5 xbox series and portable pc like steamdeck are destroying them right now.
Do not forget that the PlayStation 4 / Xbox One even built on outdated hardware by 2013 standards completely destroy it as well, not to mention the 2016 PlayStation 4 Pro as well as the 2017 Xbox One X revisions leave it in the dust too The Nintendo Switch is essentially closer to a 7.5 generation console not a 8th generation even less so a 9th one
@@Rizky-Gumilar The young generation does not really have permanent rose tinted monocles towards Nintendo as the ones that are blind towards their faults due to childhood or nostalgia though I see that as a win I mean you somehow have people defending being sold overpriced factory defective controllers, full price rereleases / ports, worse online subscriptions among other things how is the company being called out attacking in any way
@@Rizky-Gumilar Not really its just a generation that does not blindly praise nor worship nor is blind to the faults of Nintendo as well as not being afraid to call them out on it What have the older generation seeing from Nintendo but asking to pay full price for ports as if they were brand new released titles, overpriced online subscription service, being drop fed content, being sold defective controllers straight from the factory, incomplete launch versions of titles with content that has already been completed or locked behind said subscription service, abusing their own workers, justify said abuse because so called privilege of working for them among countless other things
@@sevensyns7732 But that's basically where it stops, because you can't really do anything with the Bugsnax, except for filling the farm or giving them to NPC's for quests. Bugsnax is a weird mix of a lot of games and even though it draws some inspiration from some pokemon games (or monster catching games) it's not what defines the game.
@@D2daICE I agree that there is more to the game than being a Pokemon clone. I am not at all saying that it doesn't have mechanics that players will find enjoyable. The monster finding and catching aspects have not been ones that I find interesting from a personal standpoint. Some people will find hours of fun with it, I am just not one of them but that does not make it a bad game overall.
It looks better in real time than the Final Fantasy FMV's from back during the PS1 era. You might want to go back and take a look at some PS1 screenshots.
