This movie rocked my world when I was 8! Our English housekeeper took me to see it, because her son had been a racer with Sterling Moss. It's the movie I've seen the most times in my life.
All the things you have learned from doing this and other build's before you are adding top tips for all your viewers to help them. Loving the build as all ways. Stay safe all.
The 1970 Le Mans race was my favorite. I even remember going to see the movie at the local drive-in when I was about six years old. Agora did a good job with the Gulf colors. Even the transmission is the correct brown color. My favorite livery is the #3 Martini & Rossi car which is purple with crazy green stripes often referred to as the "hippie car". Model Factory Hiro has several 917's in 1/12, 1/24, and 1/43 but they require some higher hobby commitment, haha.
This looks like it's going to be a good one, another big build though, you have the new workshop and by the looks of things you are going to have to build a museum next.
Great and very informative. Thanks for the useful hints. Am thinking of getting the Porsche myself, as I have actually been to Le Mans and seen a 24h race there. Also, love the film. Nice also to see the use of a tool from my neck of the (German) woods, i.e. the Wera screwdriver, which I use as well. The green handle always gives it away. Their headquarters are in my hometown.
Agora Models now make this iconic vehicle available worldwide. For all new viewers you can now build alongside me. I am also doing live stream videos for this build. Did I say the 1977 Le Mans race. I meant the 1970 one. @@WorldofWayneUK Difference is that Agora Models monthly subscription is£54amonth with only2subscription gifts. IXO Collections monthly subscription is only£42 amonth+you get6or7monthly subscription gifts/more of them. I understand that Agora Models you get5or10packs amonth per box each month. What i don't understand what's that£54amonth for? +it's amassive£12 amonth difference in terms of pricewise. For me i'll be sticking with the cheaper IXO Collections subscription option
Won't be long before Agora Models relaunch Altaya/Deagostini's 1:8scale Ford GT40 to sit alongside1:8 scale Porsche917 KH. +they did race side by in1970 with the same colours/liveries/ sponsers/logo's
Hello Wayne, great video mate, a quick line to say that I have been watching a new RU-vid channel called Unusual Things by a guy named Paul, he takes you around strange places and cemeteries to talk about famous people and happenings, there is a couple of videos that may appeal to you and Esther, one is, Witch Shop, Coven of Witches... Unusual Things, including a witch shop in Burley, and the other is The Vintage Toy Monster - Memorabilia, who has retro toys, models and figures, in Portsmouth, it is a really good channel, see what you think, all the best, Lee.
Steve and his Film company went to the 1969 race to scott out shooting locations around the Le Mans circuit and to test camera equipment out for the filming of the movie a year later. They in fact filmed most of the 1969 event the last Win for the GT40 and to my better knowledge the closest finish in LM history after a sprint to the finish between fords Gt40 and the Porsche 908 .this been unplanned by Porsche after all their new 917's retired from the race only leaving the old and less powerful 908 challenging the Ford car. The 917 would one year later win the race and kick-start Porsche winning streak at Le Mans that they still have the most outright win at. That was also the pre classic Porsche 917 k with its aero issues sorted out and in the classic form that we all love to this day . Steve great film just added to the mythical status that now surrounds the 917's short winning period before new engine rules sidelined it. Though it would not take porsche very long to return to winning the greatest 24 hrs race in the world with the 936 and then the 956 and 962 prototypes and the rest is history not bad for a company that has always struggled for money but somehow by one means or another builds winning race cars . For sure it helps been bank rolled by VW but you still have to give them credit for their ability to build winning cars across all classes of Sports car racing . As well as winning in F1 and Indy cart along the way.

Wayne you said the 1977 film, which is actually 1971 ( using film from the June race of 1970) and if you get this direct from ixo collections in France only costs me £42.20 not the £54.99 Agora are asking ( and yes I get free shipping, which is courier 4 day service).
@@bedfordshiremodeller4491 direct from ixo collections in France it's €49.99 per month and when my bank use their exchange rate works out to £42.20 . It does vary from month to month but always just over the £40 mark and their display case is €99.99.
@@malcolmrich9227 Yeah i saw that/it has anice wooden base on the bottom of it. But sadly altta these subscription companies will charge you alot for their acrylic display cases. Their display case for the MK1A spitfire was£180 as an optional extra. I ain't paying that forra display case fuck that. So their£1extra for their clear display cases is acon sadly
No Agora Models like to copy completed builds that hav already been done only relaunch them for the worldwide market which is hardly oridginal of them. They will somtimes throw in abrand out of the Blue new build like their Shelby Cobra or Leppurd tank
Hi Wayne, Sorry to mention it again but you are still tightening the screws on the suspension sections and the universal joint pieces too much. The suspension should be perfectly free to move, not sloppy but not stiff. I wince each time I see you over-tightening! Keep up the good work and one of these days I might be able to afford a kit to follow you with.
You need too on these models or the wheels will be really floppy. They look tight now but when the wait of the wheel and hub carriers are added they are perfect
Hi Wayne great vidio and I will be following your build. Great pity they have supplied road tyres and not racing ones which this car would have had fitted. Either dry or wet weather.
A Porsche 917k in 1970 would have been fitted with treaded cross-ply tyres in dry conditions, so it looks right to me. The 917/30 Can Am would have wider slicks a few years after though.
@@longtimelurker3591 They weren't wet weather tyres though. They did have a deeper groove for specific wet weather but the dry weather tyres had a full treaded pattern regardless. The reason for tread on the dry tyres was the need for flexibility to give progression, which slick tyres at the time couldn't provide. F1 cars didn't use slicks until 1970 or so either.
@@marks7197 I understand your point and you are deffintly correct in what you state, but This is a fictional movie car and The tyres look accurate to The MOVIE one is all I meant. Great comments , thanks.
@@WorldofWayneUK ive been lucky, ive not been charged for them. Have you? I know u mentioned that u got a customs charge on the Volvo since it was a massive box and a high value item, have u been charged for the Peugeot and the Porsche boxes?
hello, but you are redoing a new construction of the Porsche 917 from IXO collection, that it is this Agora brand which apparently copies the same parts line by line. why make two Porches 917 with two different suppliers? 🤨🤨😳😳
So $1 500 basically, and you have to wait for parts. I don't see the attraction. The (out of production but available on marketplaces) MFH 1/12 scale at $600 (add a bit for some detail up bits, paints) is a more interesting and challenging build, not simply an "assembly of rationed bits".
It,s how partworks work ,not everyone can afford to buy in in one lot. Also you can get mods or still mod This model yourself ,It,s a choice thing. 1/8th is a lot bigger than 1/12th as you probably allready know.
