I’ve been using a 12-year-old laptop for my PixInsight image processing and that is simply not working out for me anymore because of all the heavy processing activities needed for the images I produce. It has been a long time coming, but finally I can show you how to build your own PC for image processing with some of the high-end components available. This video is not sponsored by anyone, and I have paid for these components myself.
Please notice! In the video i mount my M.2 SSD in a slot that might not be utilizing all of the performance of the drive. Please use the M.2 slot closest to the CPU for best performance.
This is what I used in my build project:
Intel 14th gen Core i9-14900KF
ASUS ROC Strix Z790-F Gaming Wifi
Kingston Fury 64GB (2x32GB) DDR5 6000MHz
ASUS GeForce RTX 4060 8GB Dual OC
Kingston Fury Renegade M.2 1TB SSD
Seagate Barracuda HDD 4TB
Corsair iCUE H150i RGB Elite / 360mm
ASUS ROG Strix 1000W Gold Aura Edition
Fractal Design North MidiTower
This video is part 1 of a 2-part video series of building, installing and configuring your own Astro Photography PC for image processing. In the next video I will show you how to use the GPU to accelerate PixInsight processing.
