Part 2 with Ed Diaz, renowned keyboardist, who designed a custom keyboard rack using Gibraltar Hardware. This is a 3 tiered monster rack that is rock solid to handle the 80 lbs Roland stage piano RD800, Roland V-Synth GT and the Roland VK-8 combo organ.
Brent takes you through his building process to bring Ed's design to life. Key to success in building this rack is the use of 2 different Gibraltar right angle clamps.
Standard keyboard stands are often not comfortable and offer little chance to adjust to fit your dimensions perfectly. The keyboard stand gives the player plenty of leg room and no bars underneath to whack your shin on.

I priced this out at Sweetwater and it would be $878.63 for the rack frame and accessory add on if this helps anyone.

Priced it out at Musician's Friend. Without the accessory add on it looks to be about $800.

I run with 2 3 keyboard racks if we ever go back to touring. Love that you can put playing force and pushing on it every tier. Pray for Vaccine for COVID-19.

This looks pretty cool. I've been following Ed for a while he's a sick player and he's how I found out about this. I have a 20 key pedalboard and three Roland DP10s (Roland's pedal for digital pianos) on the floor. Does Gibraltar make a three tier stand that caters to the organist? I'd be interested in a modified version of this to hold 3 x 88-key keyboards: Kurzweil K2500XS, Roland X8, Yamaha MOXF8. all 3 tiers would need to support the weight yet have freedom on the sides for the boards to stick out. But $800 is a bit unreasonable for what are basically a stack of metal tubes.

Unreasonable, you say? What are you using NOW, if I may ask? My keyboard setup currently is a $100 Jam Stand with two K-M tier adapters & arms. Looks jinky, but it does the job. I can only get two tiers set up this way. I've also tried an X-braced triple-tier stand, but the gear/teeth on the second & third tier arms are terribly engineered. I can't get any of the tiers to line up horizontally as a result. And, the adjustment height/angle - horrible to non-existent. I actually took the tiers off that stand because I hated dicking around with them. All the other multi-tier stands are at least $150-$250, but I still wouldn't think of putting three 88-key keyboards on them. I have too much invested in my gear to entrust them to cheap, shitty stands. So, is the price tag of the custom Gibraltar rack worth it? In terms of stability, performance, and looks - all Yes, to me.

Always wondered why drum racks weren't adapted for keyboards. Both have similar placement challenges. But this is over the top expensive.

Keeping In the Pocket I know right. After paying over a grand on this stand, if the string jockey even came near it, I'd whack em' across the head with whatever I had on the top rack.

Wayne Harris i know your post is a couple of years old...but like you i am 6'2 and there is "NOTHING" for any keyboard player that is close to 6' and over...absolutely nothing. HAVE YOU FOUND ANYTHING!!! Would love any suggestions....i know the Gibraltor would do it with some parts swapped out from Ed's 4'8 height setup but ill have to mortage a house

Trying to build a two tier that can host 3 (Native Instruments s88 mk2, Roland Juno-Di and a KORG Minilogue) is that possible? Because I would hate to have to go 3 tiers for something that honestly could only take two.

GibraltarDIY My third tier makes my third keyboard a bit too far from reach. If you can design an adjustable clamp that can angle the top bar over and closer towards the front it would make stacking keyboards super custom fit.

i have a Yamaha CS80 (200lb) will your keyboard stand will be strong enough?

Fabrizio Prioriello you might need to add a second cross brace at the bottoms for the inside set of legs but it should hold 200 lbs. The bottom tier that is. I would not place 200 lbs on the mounting rails on the 2nd and 3rd tiers

I love it when someone asks directly for information from a manufacturer ... and the reply is essentially non-responsive. (sigh) Was it too much trouble to give a really rough "check dealer for the final price" estimate? Are your customers of so little value to you that this kind of side-step brush-off is OK? I love this concept, I'd like to buy 2 or 3 of these. Price really isn't much of an object for me, but I don't have the time to go hunting down what should be basic sales information. Note to Gibraltar: the OP's question is known as a "buying signal". Instead of moving the sale towards close, you shut him down and placed a roadblock in the way of him parting with his money. It certainly kept me from parting with mine.
