This 350z build is primarily for track use, whether at autocross or eventually time attack. I've owned my 350z for about 7 months now and have kept my mods very modest; for now. A lot of people have begun to ask me about what I have done to it, so heres a quick video showing off what I have done so far to the Z.

How is the 265 semi slick with the open diff? I know with some street tires on track open diff tend to get a lot of inside wheel spin. But I wonder if the tires are grippy it might be harder to break it loose

Tbh on track like at H2R, it wasn’t that bad. Had plenty of grip my brakes were the weak point as well as lack of track experience. But autocross is a different story. I have a lot of trouble getting power put down in the tight turns and finding traction on the exits. Perhaps an r compound tire would help but the fact is, I need to invest in an lsd sooner than later.

@@2FIRacing thanks man, honestly for high speed corner the open is fine, I just struggled putting power down exiting tight corner. Vlsd doesn’t do too much better so definitely a Torsten lsd is the minimum requirement for the z

@@itchyonion3559 Thank you for the support! I'm glad you find my content useful, truly. Now as far as the LSD goes, Quaife or ATB would be a great choice for street and track. I'm probably going to end up with the Clutch Type OS Giken 1.5 as I hardly drive my Z on the street. I have a buddy who is getting a Quaife installed sometime in the next few weeks and he daily's his Z so it'll be interesting to hear his feedback for sure.

@@2FIRacing I used to have car with Torsen diff. that car had almost double the torque of the z yet still exiting the corner much more efficiently than the z. That’s the time I know how important a proper diff is for the z

regarding your engine plans just a suggestion but you should reconsider because the stock engine already has forged pistons and a forged crank so the only thing you can do to improve that is rods and that's not really the weak point with such low power. I strongly recommend FI rather than wasting money on NA mods. you'll get maybe 50 horsepower for the same price versus 200 with forced induction. personally I would be happy with plus 100 for the track but there's no question I'm going with a centrifugal or a pair of turbos.

I know, I've been told that FI is the way to go for power. However, since I plan on running in NASA TT3/TT4 or SCCA BSP or Gridlife (Eventually) Street Mod; power adders are really limited. If I were to boost the Z, which would be awesome, I would be in much higher classes and I wouldn't even have a chance. At least that's my logic.

2 years late to this video. Not too sure if you'll still respond, but are you running a square setup with the 18x10 all around? And do you have any spacers, or have to do any fender rolling? Looking for new wheels on my 08 Z, not sure what size to run :)

Hey no worries. I still monitor this channel. The Z is gone and sold. But, to answer your question. I did run 18x10 square setup; I didn’t have to roll the fenders but I did as a precaution. No spacers either. The Z really benefit from a square setup at least in the turning performance over a staggered. But it’s really up to you because it can fit sooo many different setups. 18x10 happens to be a good track setup and easier on tire rotations.

hey man I like your video. I have a 2004 dedicated track car. I like your wheels what is the backspacing on those 18x10 wheels? I'm running stock 18x8 wheels but with Continental extreme contact sport tires at 245 front 255 rear. those got me through my first season and I still haven't found their limit.

Thanks dude, the offset is +22 all the way around. Just for reference I'm running 265/40 square. I should be running 275/35 but just haven't committed to a real set of tires yet. These federals are fine for my skill level.

For body roll, you should look into sway arms. They shift around when going around a corner to balance the weight

I probably should be. Especially the fronts. They do rub for sure. The back is good though.

My fronts only rubbed with heavy braking but that's more track deceleration than autocross

I’ve ran the stock stagger before and I noticed a significant difference when running square setup. My two cents is run a square setup to help with front end grip. I recommend 18x10+15 or +22. Tires would be 275/35R18.

@2FIRacing Late to the party and I just read above that you sold your Z :( :( but still wanted to ask if you had stock suspension, no spacers, and any rub on square 275s with the 18x10 +15 or +22? I saw you rolled your fenders as a precaution, do you think you could have gotten away without doing that? Hope you pick up another Z!
