In this episode I completely rebuild my fuel system in my 1968 Mustang for my carburetor to fuel injection conversion. I install a second return hard line, build custom AN lines, and fabricate an external fuel pump mount for my electric fuel pump. I also get the new high pressure AN fuel lines hooked up to my Holley Sniper EFI unit and test the external gravity-fed fuel pump.

I found that running the return line into the drain plug was much louder than fabricating a return line smoothly dumping into the filler neck, everything else being identical. I used an E2000 pump and isolated like yours is almost undetectable with the engine not running. The only caveat Ive found is that if the gas gets under 1/2 tank hard acceleration can uncover the pickup. 😲

Thanks, that's good advice, mine isn't too loud but I feel like it could be quieter. No issues with fuel starvation on mine that I've seen yet.

Man, I have a cheap original carburetor. My '68 LOVES to stall out after every stop sign.

Haha yeah, sounds exactly like my Challenger before I did the EFI swap on it. No matter how hard I tried I could never get mine to run right. I know there are carb whisperers out there but I'm not one of them.

You might consider turning the fuel pump around so the feed is facing the drivers side of the car so you don’t need to run that loop over the top, it will be harder to prime the pump with that loop going so high over the bottom of the tank, it’s fine if the pressure side is looped, but the feed side only feeds by gravity and you’ll get air up in that loop and loose prime

I've never had a problem with my pumps pulling gas. I also run a clear inline filter BEFORE the pump.

It’s a Bosch 69100
