In this video I build a basic dim bulb tester, commonly used in repair of vintage hifi and electronics equipment, using parts that you can walk into a Lowes or Home Depot and buy. I also discuss the federal ban on many types of incandescent light bulbs, and show you what you can still buy.
Here are some links to the traffic signal bulbs. These are Amazon affiliate links, if you click them and buy one, I get a small percentage of the purchase that I will reinvest into this channel. The price is no different than if you were to buy them from the regular amazon.com site.

Since I grew up in the seventies I may use my old "black light" bulb. Might be pretty cool. Thanks for posting this build video. This something on my list to build for the repair bench I hope to build someday. Take care, Kevin

I think finding incandescent bulbs is kinda like finding vacuum tubes these days - they are no longer common, but if you look around you can find them still…

oh for sure, really not a problem yet. and there are so many other options I didn't even get into (different sockets, 3-way bulbs, etc) it is nice to be able to walk into a store and buy everything you need still, though!
