This is exactly what I am thinking! A slider that is not bolted on! Thank you very much for the idea and very informative video. There are not very much content like yours on diy mods on a budget. Well done!
Waiting for a new dmax, did not want to cut or drill anything great idea, video on tube rack also excellent, very pleasant to watch will be checking out your other videos.
Car arrived 13 months wait, installed your floor minius carpet, with tiedown points, used steel bracing with press nut underneath+ eyebolts on top, look at carpet when I have more time.
It's great to hear most enjoy these videos, it's this feedback that keeps me going 😀 I wish I could do this full time, as I have plenty of ideas but unfortunately it doesn't pay the bills 🫣😂
Great idea I want to do a similar idea with the false floor I've been down the road with the draw set-ups and find them just to heavy and restricted the trouble I have is accessing things up front of tub hence I am looking at a false floor that can pull out on some sort of sliding set up.
@@craigingram-cg6si a slide out would work extremely well. If I had the height, I would have done that. It's not that hard to do and there are some really good heavy duty runners available these days that can accommodate the weight even when extended out 👍
The trouble is... once the you tube makers complete a project, that's it! They need more sponsors to do other 'hacks'... different utes, trays, canopies... ? The content runs dry without sponsors?
We bought a Wildtrack yesterday afternoon and have spent 75% of our waking time since watching your videos! Love your work! Very informative and so neat!!
good vid .. do yourself a favour and buy a can of carbuilders spray adhesive awesome thing .. not anything like the run of the mill spray can glues. try it you will never go back
@WorkLivePlay yeh definitely worth it . I've tried them all over the years and always went back to brush and tin or big jobs I'd buy a cheap spray gun . Once I tried the car builders I went back and ordered a box
For the sake of a few rivnuts I would just fix the fridge slide to the tub. Chuck rubber mat on other side if you think the tub liner is too slippery. If you are doing any 4WDing or have an accident you really want the fridge properly tied down. Kind of defeats the purpose of having a false floor if nothing is actually fixed down.
Many eons ago I ran a setup kinda like this and I just chucked a strap over it. These days my gear is rivnutted to the bed, but the old solution worked just fine if I was only heading out every now and again.
I do agree. If it was in a wagon I would 100% bolt down and I was pretty committed to putting some rivnuts in for the slide. The issue is we often don't want it in there and if you do have dirt in, you almost want to plug the larger holes you need to make in the tub liner. I've been known to pick up the odd bit of turf etc. On the way home 😅
I actually had that all in the video but stripped out as it was far too long. When we get back from this trip away I will finish the video off and include some other storage tips and tricks. I should hopefully have that done in the next week or two 👍
Hi I am interested in doing this. As you the size of the fridge is a problem. You mentioned the Oztrail 40 Lt and slid. On Oztrail site it states its height is 540. My clearance is 500. Is that yours Can you give me details it. Cheers. Steve
I am mounting my slide to Marine King Starboard. I needed a spacer bc my tailgate cover sits too high. I am using 1 inch marine Starboard. Do you think this will work well? Its essentially marine plastic lumber that is very durable and water resistant. It will be a bit heavy but I am either using Rivnuts to anchor it to the bed or using a rubber backer and leaving it unattached
Love your delivery and thoughts, very helpful, and I will be doing the flooring. Could you please give me your thoughts on the Ecoflow unit you have hooked up to the fridge. I was leaning towards an Itechworld unit but the ecoflow is cheaper.
As I am always looking for DIY mods for my Ute this one was fantastic. Tweeked it abit to fit in my Dmax but so far worked out great. Thanks for the Video cheers!!
No concern of water getting onto the battery and fridge when the vehicle is in the rain? I know you have the cover, but those sliding ones on the Ranger aren't waterproof?
I'm not too worried about water ingress at this point but have been cautious. Given the EcoFlow is raised up off the floor, it should not be impacted by any standing water if it was to get in. That said, we have been through some intense rain over the past few weeks on our current trip up to Queensland and it's still bone dry inside. The new model roller shutters seem to seal fairly well. We do remove when we aren't using it in any case 😉
Good job, nice and informative. Just a tip, if you don't have the kings tub rack yet, the Ozi4x4 rack doesn't need the chop on the mounting section to fit a roller shutter.
Thanks for the content. Nice setup. FYI, your Ecoflow power supply is Lithium Ion opposed to LifePo4 so unless you can't afford the space your spending money on a battery chemistry which has 1/4 to 1/8 of the lifespan. Thanks for the content. Cheers
I had the River Pro before the series 2 came out. Agree, these days you would go the newer unit for the LiFePO4 battery. Otherwise it's been a great little tool for camping 👍
I've been looking at the eco flow $1899 for fridge and one battery recently, as this would suit us as we dont want a permanent fridge in the vehicle.and your saying lithium ion is old school? Maybe I should wait a bit longer?
@@Mick_4591 Everything is old school if you're living in the future ;). Neither lithium ion or lithium iron phosphate (LifePo4) are old schoo. The former has a higher density ( same batteries used in cell phones) and the later has a lower density (thus larger for the same power) but lasts longer and is safer. A single fridge and some portable devices can't be charged with a 100ah LifePo4 battery without issue and can be recharged via solar very easily. Assuming you're in the US, you could buy a battery, battery monitor, solar blanket and inverter for half the price of the EcoFlow. Cheers
For the stiff carpet either sit it in the sun if it’s a nice day for an hour or put it in front of the heater and it will soften it up so it’s much easier to work with.
I found that to be a great help. I have a tub rack from Uneek 4X4, but you cannot get these any more it cost me twice the price of the flimsy kings unit but they will be fine, for a support to hold up your tub rack and tent check out bespoke 4X4 in Melbourne I have the PX3 and it has been a great bit of gear and I will be transferring the rack over to the Next gen in Feb or March but I will need to get the new support for about $500. I look forward to your rack install.
I actually really like the Triple M support we used with the King's rack. I would check them out also as it isn't as intrusive as the Bespoke version for the Next Gen. Both are great companies to deal with though 👍
Thanks for the reply I had not known of the Triple M support but I will certainly have a good look. Does the Triple M come with a certified engineering certificate guaranteeing the weights both static and when being driven? @@WorkLivePlay
Hi Peter, I did forget to add that to the list - I will add it in now!! Thank you for letting me know. The product I used on the underside is the Moroday 450mm wide x 3mm x 3m Black Self Adhesive Roll. Here is a link: www.bunnings.com.au/moroday-450-x-3mm-x-3m-black-self-adhesive-eva-roll_p4000085
