It started with a free Ikea mirror/headboard and the goal of making a barn-style sliding closet door. The mirror frame was damaged so I ended up ripping it apart and keeping just the glass mirror and then I made an entire new door from scratch. I used torsion box construction, with a large recessed area in the middle to hold the mirror.

Is it still woodworking if you cover it in blackpaint? Big thanks to all our Patreon supporters!!! www.patreon.com/wordsnwood 📃Build Article: www.wordsnwood.com/2020/mirror... I like that you added your oops fix. If we are all honest with ourselves, we all have oops moments and using our knowledge and skills, we come up with creative ways to correct those oops's. Thanks for sharing yours and how you fixed it. Fixable mistakes make great learning experiences!!!

Very well done. Working with what you got , sometimes it's frustrating if you don't have the tool to do the job but so rewarding when you achieve the results a 'creative ' way and it works out Well.👍 And yes it is still woodworking !😀

Nicely done!! Biscuit Joiner for the WIN!! My mistakes are usually not followed by such pleasant expletives... and those are followed by a self-oration that explores my lack of intelligence, lack of common sense and the ability to tie my own shoes in the morning...

Hello. I'm in the process of making 2 small barn doors with mirrors for my wife closet. This would be my first time making a barn door. I was thinking of making a frame with solid wood and setting the frame on top of a plywood sheet. 1x6 I like the idea you did adding stripes of wood for support for the mirror. Did you glue the mirror? Do you think a sheet of plywood would be okay? For a closet door? Should the plywood be 1/2 or 3/4 ? I need something flat for my mirror. Thanks
@Wordsnwood

I did not glue the mirror.

Nice. I need to do the same thing after redoing my entire upstairs. 1.5 story so all closet doors will be custom. The CT maximum tools still working well?
@Wordsnwood
@Wordsnwood 4 года назад
Working fine for me! I still prefer the lighter 12v tools for most use, but I grab the big CT drill/impact when I need the torque.

What software do you use for the design in the video? I have been using my ipad pro and drawing my client designs, but it doesn't look quite as neat.

No doubt most of your viewers are in the US, but there's a whole world out there that uses metric measurements. Could we have subtitles with millimetres, please ?
@Wordsnwood
@Wordsnwood 4 года назад
Fair comment, Phil. I should try to do that going forward. The underlay plywood was 4.5mm thick, The strips of wood I ripped as filler inside the door were 28-29mm thick. The hanging door hardware supported doors from 35-42mm thick. The door I built was 2083mm tall and 965mm thick. The "front panels" of the door were all 203mm wide, except for the bottom one which was 362mm tall. Of course a lot of the thickness dimensions depend completely on the sliding door hardware. As in, it all depends on how thick of a door the hardware supports.

@@Wordsnwood Thanks for your detailed reply ! I liked the project and I enjoy your approach. And when you make a (very occasional) mistake, I'm glad not to be the only one.
