As a German, use to bricks & blocks, for Stucco or the cement & sand mix they use here in Panama, you can get from SIKA (did I wrote this correctly?) a fluid in gallons to mix with water to get a waterproof concrete mix. That’s what I will use on the outside anyway.

How did you find contractors/workmen who you had faith in?

Thanks for sharing your experiences, including low and high. I know about real estate commissions after I saw your videos, but I appreciate who is the best realtor and vetted around San Carlos, El Valle, Gorgona, and Coronado, I know you're busy. Thanks for your advice.

Rebar in the block would be nice.

It looks like that they use (typical in Panama) only 4 inch blocks. No space for rebars. I use 6 inch blocks in my house through all walls. I have 28 columns in my houses main level, inside the 6 inch blocks. Wood is very expensive in Panama. I rather pay 5 cents more each block 4” vs 6” and safe the money for the expensive wood to make the columns. (price directly from the factory at El Higo)

I understand they do not use sheet rock in PA. What is the surface of the interior walls?

Concrete

You can tell them to use stucco but people don't use it in Panama as much because it's more expensive and humidity isn't really a big factor if the house has a decent roof overhang. In my experience at least, I'm no expert. Great video!

I’m renting a typical Panamanian house. With overhang, around 3 feet of the outside wall, all around is moist from the 75-90% humidity plus rain. They just repaired the roof on top of the patio and added 2 feet each side to it. End of February they do the whole roof. But the paint and cement mix is flaking off anyway. Sika Panama is selling gallons of products you can mix with the sand & concrete mix, even concrete roofs to make them waterproof.
