The moment the NPC mentioned the warranty, I practically threw my hands up and was about to shout "shoot that ship!" It's like Bethesda knew what they were doing there.
@@JacobThomasFallen2025 This. People always forget the powerplant needs to be updated to support those mods. Just finish the questline and get the Vanguard ship, it has those mods installed already. All I did was rearrange the layout.
@@RyMann88 There's a Vanguard ship? I thought it was just armour and an apartment. I've only seen people mention the ship you get at the end of the FreeStar questline.
There is a Mod to remove the limit of the size of the ships (and other limits) and another mod to allow slight clipping. Might be worth looking into if you want that true battleship feel
The mod that remove the limit use cheatengine (a separate software) script I think. Currently you can bug out your game from that. It also require you to launch it every time you want to do some modification to your ship otherwise it wont allow you to save the change. You could change the internal setting from tweaking the game engine by using codes in the terminal. That would also cause some problem. Like, some of the station or outpost landing pad has ship size limitation. If your ships too big, you will land somewhere outside the station or outpost. I mean you need to run to the place yourself on foot.
@@wangruochuan no it’s been updated to have a non cheat engine version, it works fine and I’ve been using it for a while with no issues, the key is to build a bit over the size limit just not massively over the size limit
@hawk66100 as far as I am aware there is only one way to join the crimson fleet faction. That is through the uc vanguard quest line where you infiltrate the crimson fleet as a spy and then from there you can side with them
@@hawk66100There Are Two, You Can Just Shoot Someone In New Atlantis, Get Arrested, Refuse To Collaborate, Go To Mars And There You Should Be Invited To The Crimson Fleet
Dont throttle up when youre rotating. If you look at your throttle speed, in the center of the meter, theres a white bar. Thats the "sweet spot" that gives your ship maximum maneuverability. If you dont throttle up when youre rotating, the game will automatically adjust your speed to the sweet spot.
I built a monster of a ship it claimed zero mobility but I get it up to speed and activate the thrusters and just shoot backwards while flying through space
Could you please include maybe a high speed video of you completely building a ship like this? It looks super cool and some of us would really like watching the full process such as how you got the cockpit up on the top as opposed to the nose of the ship!
Yeah, I just joined them lastnight. Realized wow... I can't do alot quest because I joined them... *Go kill this bounty.* (Arrives wha... these are my guys 🥲 Goodbye 10k Credits...)
@@danmoua7686 I had the situation where I couldn't should the target because he was Crimson Fleet, but ALL the other pirates in the base were shooting at him without him shooting back at any way.
I usually go either Manual Em weapons and Auto-Railgun+Particle turrets or i use manual aimed Missile launchers that do 250 damage each, with three of those with either RG or Particle turrets to cover front, side and rear fire arcs.
pro tip about ship building with Habs, when you attach one hab to another, they will always be layed out based on which node you initially attach the hab too, took me idk how many times of building my ship with a layout i thought i liked only to get on board and be lost every time, so be very careful which way a hab is trying to attach, and let it make sense to you
@@dallastaylor4681 You need to go to shipyards to get the more unique ones. The Deimos staryard above Mars gives you access to the larger Brig, Mess Hall, Living Quarters, etc. Eckland-Stroud is my favorite for habs. It's orbiting Dalvik in the Narion system.
I had heard legends of the extended ship warranty, I'm glad to see them get what they deserved. Also i wonder if you could put rear turrets and side auto turrets while keeping main guns on the front. just have the turrets be there to help with your flank and hit anything surrounding you, even if they probably wont kill anything like that.
you absolutely can do that... in fact thats how they were designed... if you space them properly they can still rotate to aim at the front of the ship too but will primarily be aimed towards the side in case anyone flies past you... if you have your main guns facing forward you can kill most enemies before they get to you and the turrets will deal with enemies attacking you from the side/behind while you deal with enemies in front... this is why turrets deal less damage than forward only facing weapons. basically think of the turrets more like point defense weapons... they are AMAZING at killing a bunch of weak enemies surrounding you... but they dont have as much firepower as some of the other aimed weapons... (that said i built a ship with nothing but turrets on it... no missiles no ballistic or laser just like 12 turrets all over my ship... and the turrets absolutely destroy everything... and yes this is possible if you use different turret weapons and have them in all 3 weapon types)
@@arcanumelite4853 Turrets deal MORE damage than other weapons not less but the lack of control other than removing power from them, makes them less useful being able to oneshot any ship with one shot from 12 manual guns is far better than half killing everything around you then having to wait for the guns to recharge
@@musicaltarrasque actually the manual guns are stronger... if you compare the automatic turret with its standard non automatic counterpart the standard version is significantly stronger... but not automatic... the automatic guns might do more damage... but only because of how quickly they can react... often attacking things before a player could but they do less damage per shot... and lack of control doesn't matter when everything is dead very quickly... usually your only fighting like 2-3 ships at a time and turrets make very quick work of them... and in large scale battles turrets are even better because they can fire in more directions.
@@arcanumelite4853 You are forgetting the difference in fire rate for example the PB 100 Neutron Beam does 29.89 dmg at a fire rate of 2.5 vs the PB Auto Neutron Beam Turret at 20.79 dmg at a fire rate of 5 to directly compare them you must convert the fire rates to be equal, so the turret would be doing 41 dmg at 2.5 vs the manual at 29
if you want a fatser turning speed its similiar to jet flying in bf4 going down to about mid speed accelerating and de-accelerating helps your turning greatly
There really should be PDC's in the game that shoot missiles down. Hope they improve all this. I was really surprised you can only have ONE ship active. Like, I don't have ships flying around out there with companions and crew members. That's because they're not actually simulating a galaxy. But just a collection of maps/U-Cells (in engine) tied together quite literally.
Exactly. That's what I was expecting and looked around for ages trying to figure out. I also dislike how half the time I board a pirate ship and sit in the pilot seat, even if I undock and redock, it doesn't claim the ship for my own. So I have to register it, go land on a planet, deal with all my inventory switching out from ship to ship, put all my weapons back in the armory etc. All just to claim a ship. You can tell the engine is hugely limiting them and their creative decisions. @@michaelgreer1972
You may also want to look into getting a better reactor. The strongest reactors I have found are at the vendor on the planet Gargarin in the same system as New Atlantis. There is also a perk at the end of the Science tree that can increase your reactor output by 1 at first tier and by 5 at tier 4.
I like the auto turrets because it feels like its what my crew is using to attack instead of me being the only source of damage. (i know thats not the case but its fun to think its being manned by my crew lol)
I thought the same thing in my first hour of game play. We are talking battlestar level ship. With docking bays you actually have to dock to to enter the ship. I want a ship so damn big you see it in orbit from the surface of the planet. LOL
or even have its own starbase/shipmanufacurer company :D u can build ships for sale (get contracts with part distributors) so u can build with any part and new ones :D + other players can buy the ships too at a vendor :D the shop has more categories new/best rated/Class etc.. u get some credits and in terms of other players buying your ships u get a % of credits :D i guess starting its own faction would be also cool :D having options of a handfull planets that support life :D and then advance from then on to start mining etc. or through story u get something so u can terraform a planet of anykind (goldilock zone required) to make it liveable
I’ve been wanting to make a ship that shoots broadside like old pirate ships. I guess you’d have to use ballistic turrets all on one side tucked into little bays where they can only shoot if you turn that side to the enemy.
Been experimenting with that in fact. You can rotate turrets to face sideways. Looks cool, and you can actually fight two enemies at once, but aligning your ship correctly is pretty hard, because you can't really look sideways even with free cam. Damage isn't great either. Just let everything face forward felt more effective.
Here's a handy tip: when constructing your turret, consider positioning them broadside, facing both sides. This arrangement enables you to simultaneously target multiple adversaries. You can place four turrets on one flank and another four on the opposite side. If your vessel can accommodate more, go ahead and maximize your firepower. This strategic approach allows you to effectively engage and defend against an entire fleet of enemy ships but do keep in mind that it demands substantial components for successful implementation. I demonstrated this On a Twitch stream.
Imagine if the DLC added more weapon types. Like say..... a Drone controller for combat drones among other things, or because i can't resist the urge to do this in ANY SPACE GAME, Build a Carrier, all be it a VERY small one.
Hm, drone system instead of missiles. They swarm a target and stay for a few seconds before suiciding. Could be super useful for those lower level ships while we focus on the stronger ones manually.

@@libertasanletum rome as a sovereign polity has existed since at least 753 BC when it was established as a monarchy that would last until 509 BC when it became a republic.
That made me laugh out loud when he asked about your extended warranty. Hilarious. You might try putting the auto lock turrets on the top and bottom, that way when you're turning, you'll always have weapons that can hit them.
The Extended warranty NPC is by far the best easter egg I've found so far... and I'm sure there are more, but this one makes me laugh EVERY DAMN TIME!! lmao
Yeah the building system is actually way more limited than I was hoping for. Besides just new modules that modders can eventually do, there are a lot of limitations imposed by the system and some things like being unable to rotate parts is frustrating.
The only thing I'm iffy about is part orientation, since as a non-coder I don't really know whether that is fixable by mods or not. Otherwise the system should be plenty customizable enough to meaningfully expand past the limitations of the core game parts.
@@Chris-ve3hz yes, but only across one axis, even though some parts look like they should be able to mirror across two. The white dwarf engines for example can only mirror vertically, even though their design should allow for horizontal mirroring too. That's what OP and I mean by 'being unable to rotate'.
80m is the largest a ship can be and land on planets. if they had a shuttle system allowing for larger ships we could probably solo the entire navy of all the factions combined.
Something I recommend with turrets is having 3 and going with ballistics as the main weapon that way to focus on multiple targets and missiles don’t hurt at as well. Locking on to the target that your turrets are fighting is fun as well
Your creation is definitely giving "Prometheus" vibes from Stargate: SG1. the first space ship of the Tau'ri, and it was a light battle carrier. Yours is almost a dead ringer for that ship, on the visual end at least. That being said, is it not possible to face the turrets backwards? they seem to only have a 90 degree arc. I get the distinct impression those turrets are more for point defense.
yeah, make more Battleship builds! was thinking something like a WW2 battleship! big, slow but tough ships with 3x triple turret guns and a bunch of point defense machine guns!
Whilst I can understand for "balancing reasons" they limit yourself to four weapons per weapon type (ballistic, lasers, missiles), I really was kinda disappointed to find out I cannot just make a ship a few hundred meters long, with a heavy, HEAVY amount of weaponry. Same goes for the engines, because of the way they make the reactors and power allocation you can only have four at max, which... Does really suck. Cannot wait for mods to exist that removes those limits and allows us to build proper space battleships!
The name 'Bireme' (pronounced Bye-reem) is the name for an ancient class of warships from Greece, Mesopotamia, Cyprus, etc. Mainly Mediterranean nations. They were named specifically for the rows of oars they used to propel themselves forward when not under sail. Bireme: Two rows of oars. (Usually had one central mast and sail) Trireme: Three rows of oars. (Two masts and sails) Quadreme: Four rows of oars. (Three masts and sails) Octoreme: Eight rows of oars. (These were the largest warships of the ancient world and served as flagships for national navies) (4 masts and sails) Up until the 1800s it was common belief that only Bireme type vessels could safely navigate the Mediterranean Sea and thus they were still in use up until the age of steam. Hoplites were Greek spearmen, usually considered veteran soldiers or 'elites'. Phalanx was a Roman tactic which consisted of Roman soldiers creating a 'wall' with their shields and sticking their spears (or pilums) through the gaps in the shields to deter enemy cavalry or infantry charge. This tactic was later revived by armies of Empires such as France and England to 'form squares' with spears, pikes, and later bayonets leveled and out to deter horse-mounted charges. Gladius is a Roman short sword often issued to Gladiators in the Colosseum. Aegis is a mythological goatskin cloak often associated with Zeus and Athene (Greek) or their Roman equivalents (Jupiter and Minerva). In modern terms, an Aegis is a shield or protection. Deimos in Greek mythology is the son of Ares and Aphrodite, brother of Phobos and the ancient Greek personification of terror and fear. Seeing a trend in the starship naming.
There's class C reactors with 40 generation (plus whatever you get from the skill if you have it). Also, if you joined UC they have some sick stuff, namely the Vanguard shield. It's a class B, but has an insane 1450 hit points and is tiny, basically a porthole. They also have some nice weapons. I recommend building a outpost with the large landing pad and customizing there, that is where I have access to the actual top end stuff. IE- my class C ships have 30ly, 3000 cargo, 100 mobility, full weapon hard points, I forget how much hull but over 1500 iirc, etc.
There's another turret in the "obliterator" series that you can only have 3 of. Deals 200 shield + hull damage for each one for a max of 600 to both lol, using those with the 4 you grabbed and then 6 of the vanguard particle guns. Shields don't exist anymore and everything is shredded to bits
it killed me the first time i heard "the we have been trying to reach you about your ships extended warranty" i was like even in space 300+ years later you still can escape these MFs lol.
The best ship to start with is the Shieldbreaker, it was somewhere in the 200k credits range but was well worth the purchase, it has high grade systems to start with, and you only really need to upgrade the reactor and shield to C class and maybe just add one more missile pod so it has 2 and you are set.
@@RubberStig Another Shieldbreaker is on the vendor again, price tag 273,834 credits, Class B reactor with 27 base power, the shield is one of the top 3 in terms of stats, the lasers are automatic and it has 3 which max out the power bar, it has one rail gun and one rocket pod for system lock targeting, 5 crew slots, and the engines go very high, only 3 bars short of max, it goes fast. I took out the legendary level 55 battleship with Shieldbreaker, once I figured out how to deal with the escorts first, without getting destroyed in the process. That was before I upgraded the reactor and shield to C class. I uploaded 2 short clips of deconstructing the ship, if you want to see the layout, the old setup was what got me through the legendary battle, the newer setup has higher mass with more cargo, and I trimmed down the habitats to only the main 3 you need.
Dude, how do you know what a starborn is but not the key? And if you keep thurst im the middle the White field the ship turn faster. Good ship design :) gave a lot of ideas:) to find out more about the Key, get arrested in a uc controlled area, Just Steal a cup or smt from a shop :)
Soon as I finish off the last few ships I need to fully upgrade my pilot skill, this is exactly what I'm gonna do to the Kepler. My main B class ship is already a massive monster but I'm gonna go full-on with the Kepler
With you being into all the space stuff and things and playing / showcasing many related games, have you played "Cosmoteer"? It doesn't have graphics close to any of the great space games, but it for sure let's you build and fight with crazy and also giant ships. There are all kinds of Steam workshop creations and mods for it. Ships from Star Wars and many other community created ships and stations, could give you some fun and ideas.
In my experience, it’s best to prioritize two weapon slots and either leave the third one empty or make it a conditional weapon. For me, my third slot is EM for boarding ships. The rest are Particle Cannons, which, when prioritized, will shred enemy shields and hull like paper.
You’re right about turrets being useful in big battles. Even though they’re not frequent, I did have a battleship outfitted with like 8-9 turrets when SysDef invaded the Key. My turrets were goin buckwild firing all over the place and I was blastin peeps into oblivion while just cruising forward slowly along at 10 MPH lmao. But yeah, it was totally worth it.
The turrets are for hitting targets you aren't focusing on , they also only cover a cone they don't turn 360 so you need to point them in the direction you want them to cover , if you want a tail gun (the best use of them) you need to put it on the rear pointed backwards and it will hit who ever pulls in behind you
Having a fast, maneuverable, and huge, ship IS possible...but the bigger you are, the faster you're taken down when facing multiple ships (the bigger you are the easier to hit). I took a C-class Generator and Shield (1200 shield power), 4 Disruptor Auto Turrets, 6 Vanguard Obliterator Autoprojectors, and a tiny class A grav drive. The ONLY Hab components I had were a 2x1 Control station, and a 1x1 companion way. I used the stock cockpit. Keeping the silhouette as small as possible, and keeping my speed around 100, I was able to solo 5 Vanguard ships without ever taking Hull damage, in under 90 seconds.
the turrets are probably best placed aiming sideways on your ship with your main guns facing forward... that way your main guns do the bulk of the damage with the turrets hitting them if they fly past you.
That's what I did on mine and it's so far just tearing through large groups of ships. I did four particle beam lasers and four vanguard hellfire autocannons facing forward with two particle beam turrets on each side for a total of four. I'm covered on three sides and I'm finding that the turrets alone are getting about a third of the kills, finishing off the ships as they fly by during a joust.
Thank you for this video. I am so going for some auto turrets, I have always stayed away from them before, but not after this video. Only problem I can see is you will not be able to board an enemy ship as the turrets will just blow everything away before you can disable the engines for boarding.
The Bireme is a good one. I bought it and upgraded the weapons and cockpit and habs and it does really well. Plus I can do multiple cargo missions in one haul.
Yeah, if you just want to plow through battles, the auto-turrets are good, but if you're looking for more hands on battles or want to board a ship, you can turn off the power to those turrets and use your regular lasers, batteries or missiles. Excellent builds. PS- don't forget, you can use ship parts to repair by hitting the "O" key during battle.
My favorite bridges are the two stories with stairs in them. I hate ladders. Also for best maneuverability, keep your speed in the White area next to the speed gauge. If you try to turn at max thrust it takes three times as long.
I modled a ship slightly based of warhammer ship design that uses 4 particle turrets and 4 class c missle racks can 2 to 3 shot most high level ships not to mention not having to worry about the turrets firing through shield and hull its crazy
You also have to remember to put long, thin, light segments, many stacked end-to-end, off of the top and specifically just one side and not the other, that way nobody can hit you XD
Make sure you remember to use your select input (E on PC is standard) to target ships that you're fighting with. That will give you a better readout on their status, and allow system locking so that (once you have the skill) you can target specific sub-systems. If you're firing on a ship and the targeting circle goes away, they're using Boost to break targeting. You can chase them down to re-engage though. Also, if you get the "Missle Lock" warning, use your own Boost to break that lock and avoid the damage. During fights, make sure your speed indicator is in the middle, not pegged on the top. You have maximum agility at the "optimum" speed, and having it pegged will make your turns very slow.
I am testing a summary bot. I would greatly appreciate if any feedback on how well it works. Here are the summaries for this video: * The video showcases the Ship Builder feature in Starfield, where players can purchase and customize warships. * The video highlights various warships available for purchase, including the Long Sword, Bereem, Gladius 2, Aegis, and Phalanx. * The video demonstrates how to add and modify parts to create a personalized warship, such as adding Auto Turrets and increasing cargo space. * The video also showcases the combat capabilities of the customized warship against various enemies, including pirates and high-level Crimson Fleet ships. * The video suggests that the strength of the warship lies in its range and health, but the player plans to make further adjustments to the ship design.
the turrets only have a 90 degree firing angle, so which direction they're facing, and the overall placement makes a huge difference. Having some turrets facing forward and some facing backward is the only way to give maximum firing coverage. This is an issue which only really shows up on larger ships, as they take longer to turn.
Are the different ships actually useful? Someone described the ships as space tents on steam. Which implied they are not used that much. It is hard sort through the static around this game.
Awesome video, I like the idea that there should be option for auto turret to have switch between full auto or only attack what you attack or lock on. also wish they add the ability for crews to escape using escape pods. This way you can capture the enemy pirate pods and send them to jail for credits. at same time you could be caught on your pod, when your ship blows up. there is so many potential.
I'm really excited for the Creator Kit software. We'll be able see custom modules being cranked out by the modding scene. I wish Disney would actually sell professionally made ships fully fleshed interiors as DLC such as the Slave I or Darth Maul's stealth ship. Disney could include cool trinkets, equipment, armor & weapons with those ships.
