In this video we take you start to finish through our fold-down tiny house porch roof. By adding shade and rain protection, a porch roof really increases the livability of a tiny house. Ours is designed to fold flat against the front of the house for cleaning, security, and protection from rocks while driving down the road.

Poly carb roof. Would be a good alternative and can be purchased in colors and transparencies. It would add structural support as well.

I like this idea, I plan to use it to build a folding roof attached to top of my fence, to use it while I am in my backyard (my neighbors have a 2 stories house with a window thru which they can see my whole backyard). To block the view of that window.

Thanks for your great stuff! You might want to look into Cuben fiber for a long lasting alternative to the tarp. Its pricey but super strong and durable. Its sail cloth, so wind and weather is no problem. Some of the attachment techniques might have to be adjusted (staples etc.) Cheers

Hi! Love your videos. We are building a tiny house, and curious about waterproofing the attachment of a patio roof like this. What did you use? We are looking at weather proofing strips, but maybe there is something better? Thanks!

I don't quite understand how water run off is happening. Don't your panels capture water?

You could use the type of plastic they use for a greenhouse. Those usually last 10+ years

It make not give you the same feel and is a little more expensive up front; however you will save money in the long run by using clear or white plastic corrugated roofing material. It will help with water run off and lasts for a very long time. Granted it is get damaged during a hail storm it can be a headache to repair butI think it could be really beneficial in cost. You would also use wooden tie towns like you have to sandwich it all together. Yes it’ll add more weight during travel but it’ll last longer. It’s a thought anyway.

What about a corrugated clear plastic?

Rather than disassembling the whole thing and replacing the fabric with something potentially more expensive, have you experimented with clear rubber sealant on the tarp like Flex Seal or liquid vinyl spray?

Great building concepts and applications, one question, if you can answer, did you make the round concrete blocks/footings, or did you buy them already made? Thank you. Jose

What about using poor man's fiberglass on the tarped area so it doesn't need to be replaced, not that I would know, just throwing it out there for consideration or not 😂

Thanks for your video! Just what I was looking for. A suggestion for your editing would be to show more of the structure and less of you talking. All your clips of what you talk about are way too short. Thanks again.

Do you have termites in your area? If so, don't store that firewood on the ground.
