One of my opening lines I love to use is: "How are you guys, you guys doing good? I don't mean to interrupt you guys.... but..... they actually paid me to interrupt you guys" And what I've found, is when I state the: 'I don't mean to interrupt you guys' People really WANT to be interrupted. Interrupted from boredom, pointless cell phone scrolling, small talk... and they want to be left with something they can all talk about, a memory to connect on, and time spent smiling, in laughter, that leaves their brains questioning and stimulated.

Hey Chris! I just kinda wanted to say thanks, because without you, there is no magic in my life. I got Type 1 Diabetes a while back, and i stumbled upon one of ur vids while was in the hospital, and thats when i first picked up a pack of cards, and thats when i found something that could take me away from all of the shit. so i just wanted to thank you so much.

Chris, thanks for this great video. My full time job is as a trainer of teambuilding facilitators (essentially I teach people how to play games that make better humans), and the tips you share in this video are easily transferable to other careers where there is a performance component. I like to, whenever possible, creep in some of my love of magic into my trainings and I can totally see sharing this video with those I teach, much appreciated.

Ok so here is what I was thinking for a starting routine. Hot shot card reveal for picked card; written card prediction from classic force of shuffled deck; 4 phase ambitious card routine; and Jay Sankey's lottery as the closer. I'm currently practicing my ass off to make a first impression in a popular bar really close to my house and hopefully get my first gig. Any tips from magicians who have gigged before on fluidity, banter or pacing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Great advice. These are some very good insights. You seem to have such connective attitude and approach, I almost instantly feel like you and I are friends, and now we're gonna spend some time together. And who doesn't want to spend time with their friends? Right? Be friends with the audience.

A good tip with remembering names is to repeat the spectators name throughout the trick, because people like to have other people know their names. A few weeks ago on David Blaine's tour I noticed that David Blaine would repeat the spectators name which creates more suspense, and it is really helpful with remembering names.

Something I've started to do recently is drop a mind reading trick in the middle of doing a card routine (using a card force or a peak or something) and 9 times out of ten will ask how I did it so I'll say something along the lines of "I used slieght of hand here let me teach you a trick or it's just like this" and I go into an abitous card routine saying "this is how you do the trick take the top card of put it in the middle and push it in *pushes card in* BUT make sure before you push it put it back on top ok?" And I flip the card over and ETC ETC ETC
