Alex has come a long way since I first started following your channel Stan. He was always quiet and not sure of himself, and now he's become quite the mechanic and more elaborative.....is that even a word? Thumbs up!
Stan has the best guys man, I think it’s because Stan is a stand up guy of guy they all seem like they absolutely love there job which is what you want
that man works so hard time and time again thru injury no matter what jus flat out works. so happy to see him happy ina diesel i was the exact same way. good job stan taking care of the ones who take care of you! sweet video
Exactly why I was surprised a guy running an excavation company has never seen an exhaust brake on a pickup 😂. Been on the dodges 15 years, ford's 7 years, Chevys for like 12 years
@@devvoid1312 haha i thought the SAME exact thing and not in a bad way towards Stan i was just surprised he’s never seen it before especially since he owns a few dodges
I'm so very happy to see you rewarding your hard-working & loyal crew members with new tools like this. Good job, Axle & Congratulations on the new truck.
You’ve really crafted a great team of guys. I would give anything to find a company like yours to work for. Hope those guys know how lucky they are to be working with you.
John deere 333g very rarely see these in the shop where I work at. Also congrats to Alex on his new truck. Would love to have an old school 4x4 shift in a newer truck.
Alex will treat that truck as his own lil babby for sure stan. I see that in him. Ive seen that many times. You get emploey his own equipment .speacial to what they want. It becomes a part of them. Just like family.
For the best visibility in skidsteers, I suggest you test out a JCB. Possibly the Telehandler model which can pile snow up far further and higher. The JCB also has a side door, so no climbing over the plough linkage.
He’s not going to do that I agree with you but jcb make all Volvo skid steers because Volvo doesn’t care about the skid steer market at all and volvo doesn’t enforce quality control on jcb (kinda like the Chevy vs Gmc quality control) or stock parts so for it so it became a hated piece of equipment in his company because of breakdowns and maintenance
I get cold just watching. Love the new truck. Down time is a real expense. Glad you have the ability to repair the lines with your crew. Having that fixed by an outside source would really hurt the pocketbook. Good to see there is good employees still willing to work hard and long hours.I like the ASVS due to visibility but the over all performance and cost might be a factor. Still waiting for our fist measurable snow In Topeka Ks.
Been a Cat man for over 20 years, and they are the very best in my opinion. Power, dealer back up, and ability to take abuse and keep running make all the difference. Branding doesn't matter when the job needs to be done. Cat typically outperforms everybody. Price is typically higher than off brands but try to fix them when they're broken. The best value for the dollar come from a more expensive machine's performance in the long run. Parts price can be prohibitive to some contractors, but longevity in the long run can make a difference.
Awesomesauce video Stan. Congratulations Alex on that new Powerstroke! No worries Stan, I was right there when you said, "I have never heard of a Jake Brake on a pickup." It's about damn time.
All the new trucks have the exhaust brake feature I think. Some work better than others. I have a 2020 Denali and it works great with or without a load behind me. Damn space ship, so many buttons!
I have a 2017 f250 6.7 and I love it. The only aftermarket part you need to install on that truck is the s&s disaster prevention fuel pump bypass. If the high pressure fuel goes out on that truck it will send metal through the hole fuel system.
I love all your videos, this pass snow storm in New York I lost my only plow truck and because we haven't had much snow in the area I live in western NY, I don't know what I am going to do to finish the season out. But I like what you do and find it inspirational.
I'm excited to see you review this Ford diesel. I hope you you have success with it. We use them at my job and they have held up under some real abuse.
Hey Stan you should look at the case Minotaur way overkill for your applications but it’s a very impressive machine. My vote is for a takeuchi very nice machines and very simple.
we run all Takeuchi machines, there track loaders are great try one out you will like them.Good luck with the new ford diesel. The exhaust brakes on the diesels are a game changer !
I have a new CAT skid 239D3 machine. So far after 2 years love it and they do have that hole plugged up now with a rubber blocker plate that stops the hoses from rubbing too. I’m a CAT guy but then again my area they are the closest dealer to me out of any of the brands and that’s still a 3 hour drive for me. Any other dealer is a 4 plus hour drive so I unfortunately don’t have much choice in brands.
Not to be pedantic, but technically not a Jake brake. Jake brakes float the exhaust valves to interrupt the combustion process. This truck has an exhaust brake, which is a butterfly similar to the throttle body of a gasser behind the turbo in the done pipe, which restricts exhaust gas from exiting the engine / turbo, effectively slowing the engine down. Super cool tech regardless. I'm not much of a truck dude, but I've towed a few things in my life. By far the biggest and heaviest thing I ever towed was a 26 foot enclosed race trailer behind a friend's 2014 chevy 2500hd. This truck had an exhaust brake, the Allison 5 speed with transmission braking, and trailer brakes. Was exiting interstate 70 at 75mph, signaled, lifted off the throttle and by the time I was at the end of the ramp for the traffic light, the truck had stopped itself without me doing anything. Was an amazing towing experience, and no heavy duty work truck should be any different, in a perfect world. Congrats on the diesel, Alex. Super nice truck you got there. Thanks for sharing, Stan.
We have an older Case 75xt and I love that skid loader! It is a wheeled machine but I do prefer wheels, at least for my application on the farm. The hoses are a lot simpler than that caterpillar and it seems to be a well-built solid machine. I will never buy anything other than Case, as of now.
Stan if you ever get in that 6.7 you will totally fall in love with it they are amazing motors and I'm not a fan of all the epa crap on them but ford did a great job . The cat 289 blowing hoses is totally neglect from the previous owner , ours has 3000 hours and only 1 hose has ever blown on it , it was the small one that is for the hydraulic quick attack , it was a super easy fix down for maybe an hour......I think you are forgetting the ford backhoe when you're saying that cat has blown the most hoses 😆🤣😂
I work for Ziegler the drive hoses have always been a problem so Ziegler made there own upgrade one were we put a other thicker hose over top to help with the rubbing. I don’t know if you guys went that way but Ziegler does have the upgrade. Have had quite a few machine have zero issues afrer
Bought the same skid steer but brand new in 2021, CAT did fix the hydraulic line glory hole issue witch is great. Zero dirt can get in there and the lines are nicely held in place. absolutely love the machine . I do find my self relying on the back up camera alot (I do commercial site work so always working in tight areas) unfortunately the back up camera only comes on 80% of the time .. and i always thought other skid steers had much better backwards visibility. othe then that absolutely love it , never ran a higher quality skid that performs on point 8hrs a day every day. Seems everything you don't like about your year cat has been improved! If you grab another skid steer go cat and get the cva service package. It'll be considered a cat certified used piece come time to trade it in . The send all the maintenance parts to your front door when the machine rolls a certain amount of hours.
Also found the cat 259d3 is the top pick when it comes to fincese work in a skiddy. Others are great as well at moving dirt and running strong . But the cat is top dog when it comes to finceseing grades when forward grading vs just backdragging. Its bites and holds its ground and is super smooth .
Stan I would love to see you run a deere 325g. It would probably be you new favorite machine. They are unmatched in power compared to other brands and are not so stupid designed like that cats hoses are!
Stan, I have been a diesel believer for years this last year I purchased a 7.3 liter gas Godzilla and so far it’s cheaper to operate and I have only missed the torque for a diesel once, I was pulling a skid steer up a steep grade and you could feel that the truck was giving everything it had and my diesels on the same road had more power left. It’s only been a year but I’m leaning to buying after 7.3 . The emission systems on diesels are crazy expensive when they fail and it Usually happens when your done with warranty.
In 2013 I bought my 2012 Ram. The salesman tried talking me into a 2013, 2012 was the last year Ram did not have DEF. Did the delete, tuner, intake & 4" exhaust. Its a beast.
My 2015 f350 has thé engine break. It’s great, if you put the truck in tow/haul mode the engine break works even better, without tow/haul pressed it still works but tow/haul steps it up a notch
We have a 325G John Deere, we use it to push chicken litter, bushhog, and do other small things around the farm and I love it, but we don't have very cold weather or snow so don't know how they work in snow.
The 2011 Chevy’s started having exhaust brake. Cummins pickups had exhaust brakes for awhile. I will say Alex needs to turn the exhaust brake on whenever driving the truck not just for trailering. So hey in the truck, hit the button, make it a habit! It keeps the vanes in the variable geometry turbo moving otherwise they stick and you have to replace the turbo sooner than later.
Just an idea on stopping mud from getting into the hose area on the cat Try using foam like the dirt bike racers use around suspension stuff the foam in the hole and it will be easy to remove when you need to and won’t stop hoses from moving.
We’ve always gone with kubota the slv-75 (no def) it’s been a great machine we also have the kx40 2300hrs no problems whatsoever we did just put new tracks on her
Yep that transfer case is the best idea because you don't have to worry where is it not working the switch the fuse the other fused or the motor in the transfer case or do I have a wire broke somewhere
If your going to plow with that make sure you have a dealer turn on manual regen and dpf % if the emission equipment are on the truck. Also my friend has had a really good experience with his bobcat equipment for his excavation business.
Cat makes a debris guard kit that covers the hoses going to the finals, it’s a must have. The reason they’re exposed is to be the flex point going to the suspended undercarriage
Wow that's really cool. Since my daughter passed away I have been just watching you guys work. I really don't like to play in the with you guys but I sure miss you guys. Alex that's great to see you get what you work for. Dirt monkey's I am glad to see you prosper
I've run alot of different skid steers and have found they all have their problems. Track loaders are more maintenance intense than their wheeled brothers. Some guys get hung up on brand loyalty, which isn't a bad thing because they get very familiar with the equipment. Familiarity helps with maintenance and repairs. Not having to have a service truck come out because you can do your own work saves money, as long as it is done right. Personally, I run New Holland because I am very familiar with the product. Is it better than other machines? Not really. I prefer the ergonomics of the CAT and ASV. My thought is run what keeps you productive and as comfortable as possible. I still use my old LX885 on occasion because I know that thing inside and out, have replacement parts on the shelf and it has been very reliable.
I personally like the cats and my brother bought a touch a couchie track loader and it’s comparable to cat control wise its smooth dont really have to many issues
I love the ford 6.7 diesel i had a 2015 just like alexs and then i got a 2020 6.7 diesel now the 2020 has a 10 speed tranny which makes my towing so smooth when u upgrade to that you wont even tell ur towing also put airbags in
