For the front speakers you might be able to find a dual voice coil speaker the right size, failing that maybe a bracket hidden inside holding two 3 inch units behind centre grill, like out of a golf or 996 dash.
Jon, since it's an early car, it might be kind of scary, but you could put speakers in the front doors like the 944 and later 924's and 924S. Would be tough to cut into those beautiful Pasha door panels.
The problem with my doors is not so much me cutting into the door cards, the metal in the early doors are actually different and I would have to cut into the metal as well. Have a look here: instagram.com/p/CxSyhB3oTBK/?img_index=1. Cutting into the metal will weaken the structure of the door. What I should have done was install 944 doors, but it's too late for that now.
@@GarageBiljonJon, another potential option might be to get the 968 hi -fi option door pocket assembly and use those speakers. Other than a small cut for the tweeters, shouldn't require any door frame modification.
It was getting really tough to work on two projects at the same time, so the 968 went on the back burner while I completed the Safari. But I have already resumed work on the 968 and a video will be apearing shortly.
