I just built my first kit guitar, basically a jackson V with a floating trem. No experience finishing wood before, holy shit that was a journey. Such a rewardibg experience though and now i want to build a ricky!
After 5 strokes, all I can do is congratulate you and Dad, on you excellent work! I have to have a fight between my brain and my fingers over what to do, after 55 years of playing!
Been looking at these, pango music in China sells them but others are flipping them for extra $100 bucks. Would love to hear it. Have a rick Dakota 650 and would like a semi hollow. Pango says they will customize it. I like the traditional rick style head and pango sells it already in the 3 humbucker solid body style. I wasn't able to see it in fret wire

Sorry for the delayed response. This is not my first guitar nor will it be the last. The biggest thing is to take your time. My biggest mistakes happen when I get inpatient and rush things. The other thing to remember, you are going to make mistakes. It's ok and most of the time you can fix it with a lot of elbow grease. I appreciate you taking the time to check out my video.
I bought this kit 3 years ago from the Fretwire as well, but I haven't seen it on their site in the last year or so, and in the past when they're out of stock they still list the product on their website but would give an estimated date as to when it would be back in stock. My guess is that Rickenbacker may have got on to or discovered they're an American company selling the kits or something of the sort. Another company based out of Australia sells the same kit, although it's a bit more expensive due to shipping costs than what the Fretwire used to sell it at.
