I've absolutely devoured your videos over the past week or so. You've truly inspired me to start making my own pieces for both my table top games and my action figure photography. Thanks for making this so accessible and showing your work so thouroughly, even the mistakes. It means so much to someone like me who easily gets discouraged at a lack of perfection in my own work.
Ahhh the constant search for perfection. It is something that any creative wrestles with. For me I guess I try to balance my search for perfection and striving for the highest standards with the time I have available. On good thing about doing stuff for youtube is you have to set yourself time deadlines which means you have hard parameters to work within. Either way glad I help spark something and wish you the best with your builds.
Très belle réalisation, on s'attend à voir surgir Indiana Jones, poursuivi par une tribu d'indigènes ... ou alors King Louie, Baloo et Moogli. Very nice achievement, we expect to see Indiana Jones appear, pursued by a tribe of natives ... or so King Louie, Baloo and Moogli.
What a great vibe! It’s really interesting to see that you prime or paint just about everything. I think it’s tempting to leave materials whatever color they come in when you really want to control the overall color scheme. Use real dirt… but paint the dirt… dirt colored… seems crazy but it’s necessary. Also a great tip to hit everything with some sort of unifying wash or glaze or tone - gotta remember that one.
This was the second model I built for youtube - I have learned lots more since and discovered the beauty of using natural materials in their unpainted form. But thank you for your tip - they are always very welcome 🙏
I use hot glue. For the foam. Less movement. Pros and cons however, Hot glue is hot! Little glue stringers are a pain too. Sick use of the vines. You are next level.
Cheers dude. I use hot glue too now. Since I got a variable temperature glue gun I haven't looked back. The strings can be a little annoying but I've learned to live with it haha
Thank you sir. It was a bit of an experiment but it came out pretty well. Definitely learned lots in the process. More videos like this one the way soon
@@creativecuts7803 Any chance you could give any more details on the high density foam that you used? I’m trying to source some myself and I would love to use the same material you did.
@@tylersuter9706 I get mine from Bluefoamuk but I'm based in London so delivery is convenient. I get a box of 20mm 10 A3 sheets for £25 on Amazon. They use a couple of thin sheets of foam to pack the outside which is really useful too. Any xps foam should work. Insulation board has a similar texture but each on will vary a little bit, some will be slightly denser than others but all will ultimately function in the same way.
@@creativecuts7803 Almost done. !1/12th scale diorama. It’s to display some stored and new figures. I have a entire backstory in my head. Thanks again.Outside of helping set up a. Christmas nativity scene. All I got is an imagination, transferable skills and now time. If you are ever in the middle of the Atlantic. I got a spot.Cheers.
I've been browsing some diorama videos for inspiration for the jungle temple booknook I'm creating and this absolutely blew me away! It reminded me of something that Indiana Jones would stumble upon, haha. I really enjoyed watching your creative process and seeing the whole piece come together. I'm definitely going to check out more of your videos!
Fantastic! When someone else creative finds inspiration in my work then that makes me truly happy. Plenty more videos of me gluing my fingers together haha. Thanks for watching
I think the RU-vid algorithm brought me to your channel, based on the other diorama/crafting channels I watch. I'm glad I found your channel! Now I have a whole new library of content to check out.
Oh wow! I love the look of ruined temples and shrines in the jungle, ever since watching the Jungle Book as a kid. Would love to see more like this one 👍🏻
Dude, thank you for getting involved and spreading the love. Always appreciate the kind words. And I loved the jungle book - takes me back to my childhood.
All we need is a little tomb raider in front of it and it's finished. It keeps surprising me that ordinary household things can be transformed into works of art. i think the paint brings everything together and is the make it or break it factor in all the diorama builds
Wow , I love what you have come up with here mate . It's up to you of corse but it needs a few snakes and lizards .....maybe . It doesn't really need it though. I love it ....
That’s really good. It reminds me of the ruins in Cambodia - Angkor Wat. Tree roots everywhere. Lighting would be a great highlight too. It would give a fantastic subtlety and drama to your creation. Thanks for sharing.
@@creativecuts7803 I’m a predator collector and I’m going to be building my own so your videos will come up trumps for me to follow…. Especially the woodland or jungle ones lol 👌 The floating island was epic! Could even do a avatar floating island diorama 😱😱
I hear ya and hope your projects go well. There will defo be more woods/jungle coming soon. Part of what makes it fun is drawing from my own imagination
Thank you. I'm not sure of you mean different from other things I have built or different from other youtubers. Either way I take it as a compliment. If you like this kind of thing my next video is very similar in theme. Stay tuned 😉
Well, that was fun, thanx youtoops for recommending this one. I have no creative tips I just like watching others let their imagination run wild =) More ruins please!
Dead crayola markers can be used to make columns and such as well. Take them apart, cut the felt end off and lightly sand with fine sandpaper to get rid of the labels and remove the shine from them. This also gives the plastic a tooth to attach paint onto the surfaces later.
Nice tip man, I have since built up a collection of all manner of tubes and fun it items to use in further builds. Really appreciate you watching and tha ks for getting involved 👍
This chanced across my feed, and I'm already in love. Marvelous work! You've got yourself a new subscriber! I love the look of the natural materials, I just hope I figure out the secret to finding the good stuff...my area seems to have very linear plant life rather than the good squiggly stuff.
Thank you for the feedback. I am really pleased with how everything turned out. Learned loads in the process and looking to up the stakes a little in my next project and push myself to further improve
Outstanding diorama, you did a great job with that skull and the use of the roots for vines is perfect. I was waiting to see a snake crawling out of the skull at some point. And I HATE snakes. LOL Again a great job done
Like your work, I would have been tempted to go for the irregular stone pattern you see in myan/Aztec buildings but I also know I would have been hating myself half way through 😁
Thanks man. Just having fun glueing my fingers together. Of course there are many historical things that don't hold up to scrutiny but that's the beauty or curse of being the boss. You have to live with your decisions haha. Appreciate the kind words. 👍
I’m just starting with dioramas. I always loved doing them as a kid, but I need to do some sort of displays for my miniature car and motorcycle collections. I love your work and really love you ruined urban overpass.
My journey into all this started much the same. Loved building things as a kid and painting miniatures then life gave me other interests and I stopped for many years. Then as I got older, gained an art degree and a bit of life experience, I revisited my childhood hobby but with an adult lens (and funds) and now it is something i do to relax in-between work. Thanks for watching and good luck with your projects
@@creativecuts7803 I am very, very far from any type of artist. No drawing, painting just imagination and ideas…but a lot of little cool things laying around the house!
@@klj5150 dont sell your self short. Having imagination and ideas is half the battle. To build dioramas etc you really don't need to be able to paint or draw well, so much of it is techniques and optical tricks. If your worried about commiting to a full project in case you mess it up, do a couple practices and when you feel confident. Most of my projects are experiments really and one kind of leads to the next. RU-vid is a great resource of techniques and I'm always happy to answer any questions if you have any. My best tip is just go for it and see what happens. You will learn so much in the process, regardless of the result. 👍👍👍
I'm curious why you didn't leave the vines and crushed leaf clutter unpainted using their natural colours. Regardless the final product is amazing as always. Great videos!
Please do some brick wall or garage stuff good for 1/24 scale. Maybe parking lots or garages. I’m attempting a small Batcave. Just something to display 8 1/32 scale Batmobiles from all the movies. Not trying to copy anyone’s or any movie just my own Batmobile garage scene.
Hey Ken glad you found your way round to a few other videos. I'm currently away on a work trip but will be back in a couple weeks. I have a few other project in the pipeline but consider your request added to the list. A great way to do bricks is carving them into foam (Styrofoam or xps foam), use a ruler and you can adjust to any scale you need. Then a sharp pencil or similar will get you a nice groove. Make sure you seal it with diluted pva glue or mod podge and then paint away.
Really liked this video! You've got a new subscriber in me! Keep making great dioramas! I have a request or suggestion: how about making a floating island diorama? There's plenty of artwork of them but almost no dioramas!
Just came across your channel and really loved this video! Lots of ideas I'd like to try in my own terrain builds, the dead ivy and soil mixes in particular.
I love your videos please keep them coming . Could you please do a video of essential equipment for getting started and a first beginners escape that most people could do without having to buy lots of specialist stuff , a starting point video if you like for doing your very first scene , that would be awsome 😊
Thank you very much for your kind words. Funnily enough I have had quite a few requests for how to get started and equipment. It is on the list of videos to make, so I should have a video for you shortly. And great idea about an easy diorama that everyone can build. Also now on the list. Thanks again for taking the time and more videos coming soon! 👍
@@creativecuts7803 Did you ever make this list as I need to buy an air gun and I could really do with some advice. Thanks. Love your work. Make more things!!!!
Great tutorial. The temple looks fantastic in its overgrown state, and it's great to see how it is built up out of regular materials. Did you find the primer and paint stuck OK to the plastic plants? I tried this once but even Tamiya primer just flaked off the plants.
Thank you man. Really appreciate your kind words!! I just used regular car primer and it worked OK. It is prone to scratching. I did wash the plastic plants in washing up liquid before primer to remove any oils etc. Dont know if this helped but it felt like a good idea at the time.
I love his projects but I've never seen anyone use so much gorilla glue. lol I'm pretty sure you could use a lot less, it'll make your projects a lot cheaper too; that glue isn't cheap! I know the super glue is one dot per square inch of space. Anyway, I loved this project - I love all your projects, they make me want to get creative 😁
Haha I got given a box by a colleague and what you don't see on camera is that I also have a big box of cheap school grade pva which I often supplement. The super glue I get in bulk from amazon which saves a few bucks but I also prefer to use quality products which I can rely on, which I can say for many cheaper brands. Either way really glad you find some inspiration from my projects and hope you create something wonderful with your creative urge.
@@creativecuts7803 That makes more sense. I suppose coming from someone who usually has to substitute items b/c I can't always afford what I want I get mild anxiety seeing product used so liberally. Bulk purchasing is always smart, it's what I do for my clay. I sculpt more often than not, building everything almost from scratch to make it look the way I want. I'm going to make a lighthouse scene that's fallen apart from neglect with a ship graveyard at it's base. We'll see how it goes, I get an idea and just see what happens as I go along - much like your builds. :)
@@creativecuts7803 Oh you should check out Hoo's Mini World, want to talk about talent! He's a 3D Pen artist and I've never seen someone who has that much patience and talent for such small details. Absolutely inspiring! I think you'd really appreciate his talent.
Thank you sir! The lichen is actually reindeer moss and is stabilised so no need to sterilise. The dirt i bake in the oven first to try to remove any bacteria etc but it is already very dry at the point of collection so I dont really have any worries about mould or similar. I have also experimented with using actual moss and soaking it in glycerin for 48-72 hours and this basically plasticises it. Over time the green colour will fade to a more yellowish colour but a quick coat with an airbrush will keep the colour constant. Hope that helps a little. Shout if you want any more info 👍👍
