It is made from solid cherry; the top edge is rounded over to create a pillowed effect along the edge. The legs are angled from all sides and sculpted to a similar pillowed effect on the edge of the legs.
It is approximately 42” DIA, and stands 30” tall.

Simply gorgeous...or is that gorgeously simple? It’s amazing how much effort goes into creating something with such beautiful simple lines. As someone just old enough to remember some mid century furniture the first time round I doubt there was anything there as well built as your table. This is the first video I’ve seen of yours I think, I really like how well you explain everything. A brilliant video, and I've definitely subscribed.

I'm planning to build a Scandinavian style bench for my bathroom with dowel joinery, and I definitely picked up some great info from your video! I especially liked the part of gluing in the dominos (in my case dowels) in one of the pieces for quick dry assembly, as well as using toggle clamps and a fence for the template. Table turned out great, this Scandinavian approves!

Great video. Only thing I might have done is elongate the screw holes in the legs to allow for expansion /contraction of the top because it is quite large and might be susceptible to movement. Love watching very professional editing

Very beautiful sir! Love how you fussed over the legs until you got exactly what you wanted. Thanks for posting.

Very nice table, and good build vid: great payoff moment when the halving joint was tapped home! I also loved that you showed how many iterations you went through before the legs were *just right* I was going to ask about whether you'd constrained movement in how you attached the legs but I see you addressed that already.

I love the double roundover without the hard thumbnail "ledge" on either table face. Do you have any tips for choosing the right size bit or your table thickness to get an even roundover on top and bottom without the thumbnail?
@pfshort
@pfshort Месяц назад
Nice table! I'm curious if you had any issues with stresses in the timber over time by connecting the top directly to the base. I have seen a few people recommend using a figure 8 connector to allow some movement in the wood as the top expands/contracts.
@Benham_Design
@Benham_Design Месяц назад
No issues with wood movement. The holes are drilled oversized so it allows for the top to move as needed

It beautiful, thanks for sharing the making of! Whats the outward angle of the legs, 10 degrees or more?
@Benham_Design
@Benham_Design 8 месяцев назад
Thanks, I have no idea what that angle is, I made the table years ago, if I were to make another one, I wouldn't worry about what the angle is, I'd just draw an angle that looked right and probably never measure it

I just found your video and I’m super impressed by your work. I really like how you made the legs. What size round over router bit did you use? Do you have any videos showing or maybe some tips on how to make 2 side tapered legs and the other side round over?

Note the very skinny tapered legs. This can only be done with high quality wood. This style and shape is what makes Mid-Century so beautiful. Modern replicas of the Mid-Century revival (2020s-2020s) have short stubby fatter tapered legs. It’s because they use cheap materials and this shape and angle cannot be strong enough to support heavy weights.

Did you joint one face before planning other for top boards?
@Benham_Design
@Benham_Design 2 года назад
Yes, I joint a face, then plan the other face. Then pick an edge to joint, then rio to width.

It’s Mid Century - the American flavor (sixties, the particleboard period). Scandi hardly ever have this kind of straight roundover - they like beveled or multi-contoured edges
