Building a simple material lift | lightweight and handy 

*We did improve the design since this video. The sleeve on the base got moved inside the U-shaped based and lowered. It now sits flush with the top and inside. This allows the base to double as a dolly for moving cabinets into place. THANKS FOR WATCHING!!

Nice. Thank you for making this. It gives me some ideas for how I can make one to move 4x8 plate metals and plywood off my truck and around the shop. I’ll do some modifications for increasing its durability before putting heavier plate on it though. 🙂

perfect , should come out the very slim & tall size with variety moulding size adjustable . for install at scissor lift , above ceiling work which most of time obstruct by other thing , the space only left less than 500mm , need this to carry load and safely extend to above .

That is a great idea. Now if you widened the bottom and had the moveable part go lower, that would make a great wheel lift for those big, heave wheels on rat Rods and so forth. Thanks for sharing.👍👍

thought it was a great idea but there is a problem cannot lower the forks right down also if you lower the forks down then the handle of winch hits base

How do you keep it from binding on the way down? By placing weight you a shift senter of gravity and telescopic sleeve simply locks up on the way down. Seems like you would need some type a roller bearings to keep platform from locking up

I have an old harbor freight 12v winch with remote, and a lawnmower battery that would make a nice upgrade I think.

That would be great for lifting and lowering tires/wheels to and from a vehicle on a lift.

This was excellent. Super curious about the modifications you made. Also, as someone with a stick welder but almost zero welding experience, how big of a project is this? Good for a total noob?

It looks like 3x3 inch for the post and about 1 1/2 x 2 1/2 for the forks.could you tell me what gauge the tubing was, Is it 1/8in. or heavier? something strange at 4.50 in video winch above forks at the end the winch is below the forks what looked to be a good idea seems not as good when you start to make this lifter

It hurts my back by just looking at you bend down to slowly hand crank the fork up.
