I have a friend who flew F-86, F-100, F-105 (Vietnam) and F-111. He always said the F-86 was his favorite of all of them to fly. It had the most balanced controls that were just perfect.
I used to think the F86 looked goofy not that long ago. Now It's a favorite of mine. Funny how our perceptions change like that. You did an awesome job. Oh and thanks for the documentary link as well! God bless 😁
No, I want to than you for watching this video. I was told that this plane was a dream to fly. Pilots like it because because it had good flying characteristics. Again, thank you for watching my video. 😊😊
Gorgeous aircraft! Count myself lucky to have seen the example that was based here in the UK fly on several occasions, including in a tail chase with a MiG15. As always enjoyed your build and video. Could I respectfully point out that referring to a kit from 1998 as 'very old' doesn't do my aged ego much good! My first model was built in 1968!!😆
Nice build. My best friend's dad flew in the RCAF, out of Baden Baden, in the 50's. He flew F-86's but the Canadair version. Bigger engines, and faster. He said at that time, they could sign the jets out for the weekend, and fly essentially anywhere in Europe to get air time hours. He was in his early 20's. He went on to fly the Widow Maker and retired as a Colonel. He has great stories.
Well thought out with the weights! ( had to do similar with the 1/16 Tamiya Tiger 1 and foam lined the rommel box and filled it with lead shot ) Great to see you do these kits, sir. Completely relatable and encouraging to modelers of all skill ranges!
Lovely job!!! Very nice anecdote with the Sabre pilot as well ❤ A few years ago, I was lucky enough to meet an elderly gent that flew Meteors in Korea for the RAAF! Please give your cat a scratch for us all 😸
Thanks. Since the kit is over 20 years old, the canopy was a little dull. I hipped it in Future Floor Wax to restore it. I didn't mention it on my video because I didn't think my audience cares about these things.
I have built 3 or 4 of their 1/72 F86s and they are just AWESOME. I never get tired of them. Just wish there were more AM decals out there. Great work!
Good video!! I have that same model kit of the F-86. Bought mine in early 2000s at a hobby shop along with a Tamiya MIG-15. Wanted the MIG to be in North Korean markings and searched far and wide before was able to find an aftermarket decal set for it. Wish Tamiya would come out with a kit of the F-86 - that would be awesome!!
Beautiful model and the look inside the cockpit of a real F86 was a nice touch. Very interesting indeed! The F86 is really a fascinating subject, so many countries flew it. In fact, West Germany used them too, but we had the variant built in Canada at the time. It is pretty much identical though. I built it some years ago, using the Revell/Hasegawa kit. It was a bit of a pig, i think the Academy kit is probably better!
I didn't know the F86 was used in so many countries including yours. I remember seeing a lot of F86 dioramas with German markings on one of your videos. I never gave it much thought until now. Wow.
Another excellent build of a beautiful, a great story behind it and an interesting guided tour of the cockpit!! Very nice indeed and a great entry for the Group Build too.. :) :) Thank you for sharing.. :)
Very nice build!! Great story and walk-around of the real plane. I’ll have to keep an eye out for this kit. I have been tempted to get the 1/72 kit that Academy has. Take care! Drew
That's a very nice Sabre you've got there! Academy did re-release this kit about 10 or so years ago? It's got new decals for a Lt Jim Thompson's F-86F, "The Huff" with a very colourful Dragon nose art. I just ordered that kit online, so we'll see how that goes...Academy also did scale this model kit down to 1/72 scale, and those 1/72 Sabre kits should be fairly common.
Looks like you are using a single action pasche air brush? What pressure are you running? Tip size? Love ya man, keep on building. You ever build model cars?
I think academy have re issued it we had one in on order today the man came to pick it up it was academy's newer 50th anniversary box it was in sure its a 2019 rebox! His father flew one in Korea it was a normal USAF badge on the blue box the Japanese like the F model's didn't they?
What color was the cockpit? Also is the black paint as base necessary? Bought one recently and am trying to build it. It's my first model kit actually but well yeah, haha. Thanks!
It's been years since I worked on this project. It's a gray interior with a black instrument panel, I think. For the paint system I used, it needs a gloss black finish. Thank you for watching my video. I honestly appreciate it.
welll looks good to me and bits you got from other whare good tuch and yes we seen that co star and he needs treats and big decal with cat and bird the best bit ooh last the pilet well bit looks like you LOL you post em will see em
@@dukesc5562 Sorry for the problems. Write the title on RU-vid's search "Dogfights: F-86 Sabres Battle at Extreme Speeds in the Korean War". You still may be able to watch it in the UK. Sorry.
Hi, my name is Charles, and I'm a model builder in Southern California. I would like to start posting videos of my work on youtube. I was wondering what platform you use to create your videos and where you get your music. Because a lot of music is copyrighted and not permitted to be used.
