thank you for this, I hate going to forums to ask questions because they are full of guys who will just tell you to buy a bolt on solution for everything and lecture you about the dangers of everything you try to do diy. you earned my sub
find you a 12v air manifold or some 12v air solenoids , then you can ditch the pipe and valves for cool looking switches . Cool truck ,I would have never thought of using have that stuff
I knew ive seen that truck before!! I am a Charleston local too!! As soon as i seen it i had to watch it. I plan to do the same to my 59 apache too, maybe one day we can meet an have a beer
Learned a new word I didn't know I liked. "Lay frame". I have a 59 apache with a small block 350 with a mild cam and a 700r4 with a 2400rpm stall torque converter. It has an air suspension but it doesn't lay frame when deflated. Might look into laying it to the ground. Much cooler.
What an incredible build sir, this is the definition of the saying no holds barred. Rules? Fuck rules who the hell decided what any one person can or can not do to express creativity and uniqueness. I absolutely love this truck man, kick ass AF
OK. I absolutely love your truck. Honestly it's one of the coolest rigs I've ever seen. The still fuel tanks I's incredible I love it. The hole truck is perfect. I'd love to build something like that. I'm looking at 54 Ford in not so good condition for dirt cheap and I'm slamming my old jaguar xj6 so I guess RU-vid decided I'd appreciate this .for once RU-vid was correct.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! SO INSPIRATIONAL!!!!! I FORGOT THAT BUILDING A RAT ROD. IS USING WHAT IS AVAILABLE TO YOU. I LOVE YOUR GMC!!!!! SHE CAME OUT GREAT!!!! GREAT VIDEO AND THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!
That's pretty cool what you've done with your little pickup I've had ideas on what to do on my vehicle but I don't have a good welder yet either way nice job
You are going to be my new best friend in my old. Town in Mexico they think I'm crazy because I do recycle everything and I make it work way better than the original parts finally i know some body whit high IQ and fearless to use anything on his way congatulations you doing an exelent job
I’m digging the ingenuity and all but you really hurt me shooting holes in a perfectly good tailgate. That’s a really awesome build, you made me feel a lot better about trying to weld in a 4 link to make my truck 6 wheel drive lol
I would definitely agree with that but it’s a cheep knockoff. I would have never done that to the real deal. 6 wheel drive? That sounds like an awesome build.
@@ridgerunnergarage Its a cool car and obviously serves its purpose, but if that was here in Australia it would be deemed unsafe for road use - which was my point
@@jimmyy9273 Oh sorry, I didn’t remember that’s what Aussies call it. Here it’s just called an inspection. I used to do state inspections here myself and you’re right,I’d be a little bit leery about putting a sticker of approval on this one. I assure you it’s safe. Love to visit Australia one day.
Thank you. Oh man it was many trips to Home Depot. The only thing I would recommend is to use a water valve with a drain and on the drain you can screw on a pressure gauge. I don’t know if that helps.
Hey man i would like to build a similar build ia there anyway you could break down how exactly you did it air bag system wise killer truck tho man really creative very good work
I did a few videos on a 53 Ford and got into the same air ride a little bit more if you want to check those out, maybe that can help you but feel free to ask me any questions.
Love the build. Ive got questions about the ac/air compressor. Do you have an oil drain for the system? What are you using for a pressure regulator? Thanks
Thank you for checking out the video. And actually there is no need for a oil drain or oil catch. The system will blow any oils it uses out the drain. I use a 2 wire presser switch also known as a regular. Just a simple one off eBay that turns on at 100 and off at 150. It’s in the line coming from the compressor to the air tanks. The switch is on the ground side of the relay that powers the compressor
Sorry hit the wrong button I have a really cool old under dash AC unit that I pulled out of a 66 Ford galaxie 500 I would love to donate it to your truck
Do you just have a nut, locking nut, and a washer underneath the leaf spring mount? I’m not how did you get the bolt head underneath the leaf spring mount?
I have had a few people ask me about that. The bolt will fit before you put the bag in. Thread the air bag down on the bolt and finish it off with a wrench. You may have to open the hole a bit on one side or shorten your bolt some.
Just used a universal relay and a pressure switch. Regular power and ground and on the coil side of the relay Power from the ignition and ground through the pressure switch. When the switch reaches 120 psi the switch opens and then there no ground to the relay. That will shut the compressor off. The pressures switch is from eBay. On at 90 and off at 120. I would recommend higher pressure though. 90-120 is fine but a/c systems can hold much higher pressures
Great air system. But was wondering if you have any adjustability in suspension alignment? Does it track down the road ok? I have been working on a 2003 s10 chassis for an international metro. and I am, let’s say “cheep”, so a lot of upull&pay parts for rear four link. I only have adjustability in the front so far. Just want to drive. Not race.
It still has the original upper control arm so I can adjust caster and camber. It’s aligned with a tape measure and level. I’ve put thousands of miles on it and no tire wear.
I can’t remember the name anymore. It’s been 4-5 years. From eBay for sure. I believe it was 2 bags and 25 ft of line with a tee for 99 bucks. I believe you can buy the same thing now for around 110
You lost me on the lower control arms and welding to the leaf spring eyes. The cost savings compared to buying a known weldable material is minimal for such a safety critical component. Lots of excellent work and creativity otherwise.
Wow. The truck is cool, but you're gonna kill yourself or worse an innocent family with that thing brother! Please keep that thing off the road and in your garage. Seriously
false...the bags alone are 300$ plus compressor tank air line and even the cheapest manual setup u can find plus the notch 4 link bridge etc.....unless u have these parts layin around your not bagging anything for 300$
