I use two belt driven Technics SL B2 and a Realistic mixer with a weighted fader (no crabbing on that thing), and I still perfer the feeling of a record on a turntable, and literally FEELING the cue points before letting them go. Staring at a screen has never been able to replicate that satisfaction of rockin two records and having to switch them in and out.

Real talk. There's a lot of creativity to be gained from limitations. Those days of strictly vinyl teach you how to push things to the limits so that when you get to digital you can take that concept of stretching the limits even further. The whole culture is based on bending the rules of what your equipment is designed for! Think about it. Turntables were never meant to be instruments. If you apply that "think outside the box" to whatever gear is in front of you then you can advance the culture. One of the dangers of this newer gear is that its so hand-tailored for DJs that some people never learn that essential mentality of stretching the rules. There will always be benefits to going back to vinyl because it forces you to get creative and find workarounds to the limitations of the equipment.

I really enjoyed this podcast Very informative, honest, and fair. A while back, I was conversing with a co-worker about this topic, especially the part about scratching on Serato vs. Vinyl. He was adamant and at times very combative about his opinion and claimed that there was no difference. I stuck with my opinion and and truly believed that there is difference with the control and sound quality. Vinyl sounded more natural and the hand control on the record was instantaneous, compared to Serato, which to me had a slight lag. After hearing you guys mention this on your podcast, I know now that I was right all along. Thanks guys! Can't wait for more Beat Junkies Podcast.

First episode i finished been wanting to watch em but had to really make sure im focused and tuned in heavy. This was amazing i can say wow is cool how it felt to know the vinyl era, i say this because i started djing on serato 2011 never got to start from the beginning. Knowing how hard it is and the commitment u need to put plus the sacrifices u guys made i love hearing about it. The most i respect about you guys is u don't knock on the digital era Djs but make sure to learn the craft correctly. U guys are awesome will be tuning in more on the episodes so i can catch up. Beatjunkies is the true team of Djs i can't wait to subscribe on beatjunkies tv so i can start taking courses although i can say im a good dj not a bad one i feel to go back to the beginning. so i can catch up on anything i missed out on or need to improve on and whats a better way to learn from you guys who is very experienced that can get me where i need to get at and be at my full potiential.

Traktor has a built-in metronome and over dub loop recorder with 4, 8 16 and 32 beat bar lengths the loop recorder is amazing and serato needs it plus a master tempo

Serato has been good but I have traktor and that has given me major issues this year 19 times this year it has blue screened and factory reset its self and wiped everything, it's OK on my other computer and serato is fine on the same computer. I have 30,000 +track in 75 genres so yeah pain in the ass resorting it etc

After 20 yrs of Dj'ing vinyl, I caved because my mixer died and got the new rane mixer...I got the DillaDonuts Serato on Ebay to motivate me to use it... and TBH I still use my vinyls (honestly cringe at paying for the software every month)

This convo was badly needed. It's a sensitive topic these days in the digital age because younger kids don't want to hear or learn about the history. Digital age redefined the DJ, but it also hurt DJing as an art, and rebranded it to prioritize an image because a machine does all the work. I can't tell you how many times I was told about some new DJ, and when you see his/her shit, they are hardly touching the turntable. Or alot of times, you don't even need turntables. You can see DJs djing on apps. The more we bring up this subject, the more we'll see skills resurface. Lookin forwards to more podcasts

True vinyl is the only way to go when it comes to scratching, The only people that tell you different probably can't scratch worth a shit in the first place..

I agree for me is vinyl then serato with the new deeper cut vinyl then traktor, I have all 3 traktor is better for straight up mixes though and their track analysis is far superior that serato
