Cleared up alot of questions I had regarding how you guys use your headphones to cue. Amazed at how fast J-rocc is on using cue fader when doubling up.

Very dope Episode. And I totally agree with 30:00 about DJs doing themselves a disservice by relying too much on the digital aspect of DJ'ing, visual markers be it waveforms, BPM on screen etc. I'm not saying don't use them, but train yourself to play with your ear, listen, feel the music.

Thank you guys for putting these discussions on YT for people. I learned how to mix at 12yrs old, in my parents basement. Had only one turntable (belt driven LOL) but it had pitch control. So I’d sit and figure out how to get it on beat, let alone in time. It’s been 30 years, and I can rock on 3 decks. Haven’t had the pleasure of trying Serato yet. Vinyl is my favorite medium, but crates get heavy! On the RU-vid tip...If only these things were available when I was younger. I actually learned to crab, flare, etc. from watching people’s hands on the fader at shows. Saw you guys many times when I lived in the Bay Area. Still love J-rocc’s “ Live at the Sex Machine” mixtape. Thank you for taking the art further, and empowerment. Love this ish.

Adrian dj a-plus teague - 20 year Turntablist here, and I am the same way. Sometimes, I’ll rely on a couple of tracks that mix very well...but it’s a lot more fun just winging it. Peace!

5:09 Just to echo off what JRocc is saying and I hope I'll be able to articulate on this matter... I agree, doubles (and scratching) does not feel quite right on time code. I think because on "real" vinyl you actually feel that downbeat, snare, or scratch sample from when the needle hits the groove; even without any volume. On time coded vinyl, there's just that consistent groove. Just my $.02 :)

"BENZO DJ" LOL😂. And no you can't feel the information in the grooves through your hand homie. Serato has slight latency, that's all he is talking about.

I’m wit jrocc in that technology takes away from the art and craft of djing... plus when I do use serato my bad habit was looking at the screen the whole time. Babu’s point of view on cue point scratching is digital. So I think it’s still cheating! But great discussion guys on great djing and bad habits! But check it! I could of been practicing for 45mins instead of watching the podcast for that long haha. What had me finishing watching the podcast was I was so impressed on how you guys had different points of view and how you individually practice which was very interesting! Thanks homies much love!

Great video filled with good discussions. Interesting to see that despite how experienced they are, they still talk about getting nervous at gigs. Thanks for taking the time to sit down and talk about the art of DJing!

The difference is on vinyl your cue markers are set in stone and they never move around, but when your hitting the cue buttons you might be slightly off and each marker won't be identical and set in stone, plus you get drift if you backspin to quick and the needles slip on the record and then boom you clock mark is off

Thank you for this! I was wondering when a you guys would do this :) Is it possible for podcast topic discussion on the overall state of turntablism, Battles, overall routines, online v live, Goldie v DMC, why people aren't producing all scratch albums now that tech makes it easier? Just curious since you guys talk a lot about scratching and techniques
