you're hilarious and super engaging. you're a fantastic example of how i want my siblings to grow up to be. you must have awesome parents, I'm happy for you. Have you looked into earthships? If you flip a few of your tiny homes you may be on your way to the next level grasshopper. great job
I feel so sad for our young people. Back in the day, people never thought of building tiny homes because regular-sized houses were affordable even with a single income.
@@xxxod not everyone wants to live in a mansion (or a tiny home) the real American dream is to live the life you want to live. (Pursue what makes YOU happy rather then what people think makes others happy)
Why? They still can as long as they don't get in debt for their useless gender studies degrees. Get into trade or stem fields and you can buy a normal house.
@@CalmoOmlac I'd live in a hole in the ground if I could have internet and solar batteries to charge all my crap. Geothermal heating and cooling, baby.
BIG Mistake here, never use "Particle Board" on any Trailer project when it comes to the floor! Particle Board is like a sponge, it will swell up just from the moisture in the air, since you didn't even paint it with oil base primer paint with Mildew block. Mold will form from the bottom of that trailer. Food for Thought..... RUST; use rust converter spray paint.... Overall you did a good job.....
@@mihoyhoy I'll make it simple lol, Plywood period is the best or just regular Pine or Oak boards, even cedar, depending how you are going to use it... Particle board has to be in a stable environment, and I see this in trailers, campers all the time and see the issues first hand. Even at shore houses, when you don't live in these trailers & campers etc only part time; with them setting there, moisture swells up Particle Board like a sponge, then Mold. Construction Industry uses it as a base for counter tops & such because its so cheap. I use nothing but Plywood & pine boards for interior. In my own Trailer outside & the floor yet to be covered is all pressure treated Plywood, lumber, frame & all. I will be using all foam board insulation. Tung & Grove planking for the ceiling. And hopefully be on RU-vid soon.... Interior walls I use an oil base primer that is Mold resistant before doing any Insulation. Prepping is the most important thing to do... I'm converting my travel trailer into a mini camper. Any other questions LOL! Thank you, Rich...
I have some cut particle board flooring that l have left outside standing on its edge straight onto the dirt for 8 years now, it's a little buckled but really hasn't lost its integrity, I did this to satisfy myself about the products quality, correct flooring particle board is a superior product to flooring ply in my opinion.
@@andhewonders LOL! I have watch furniture under a structure outside that swelled up like a sponge because there base & was Particle board. Particle board is Not meant to be used on any sub floor because its not structurally stable by U.S. building code standards. Ants love them to when there left outside. I also work in a Architectural Salvage Yard. We have 100yr old doors made with old growth wood, it doesn't rot. Particle board dissolves, I had to throw out of 4'x8' sheets of Particle Board last week that was all warped & swelled with mold growing on it. You won't find Particle board on any Boat LOL! Enjoy...
Update 10/19/22 I just finished the tiny home interior today, I'm shooting the special grand finale tomorrow, and will start editing the second video! I hope to have it out the first week of November. Sorry about the delay, turns out building a home is far more complicated than originally anticipated, even if it is 1/20 the scale of a normal one. -David :)
You are another brainwashed zoomer. Having a big stable traditional family and big comfortable house is a dream and the only real "experience". Tiny houses and dying alone is a nightmare .
Love all the work you put in and how you explained it for others! Only thing: the particle board and original boards on the bottom do worry me for long term use. Consider each year having mold or wood rot tests done to the underneath to ensure you don’t fall out especially if you ever live in Florida, Washington, near the beach.
Amazing, as a carpenter myself whose built houses, I’d have suggested extra support around the doorway and windows, also adding a header, king studs and trimmers
@@VGCAlex yes I was wondering about that and also the fact that this is going to be driven around quite a bit. Does he need any extra framing because it will likely be driven over the road regularly?
@@danielharris4965 well typically a wall is built with 16 inch on center studs, his are not, and since they are load bearing it might cause issues if he ever goes to a place that has large amounts of snow. there's also no blocking in his wall so his studs can possibly twist and bend. however it is a small structure so I'm sure it will hold together fine short term but he will definitely see some structural issues in the long run. the best case scenario is he learns from this experience and can avoid silly mistakes for his next one but seeing as he had no knowledge or experience in the field he did a good job.
Hey! As a tiny home builders enthusiast, I find this video to be a great pleasure. I was reminiscing on the days. My Nana and Papa will take me to their tiny home. Such child filled memories.
This is super impressive. Most people either hire professionals or are professionals themselves. The fact you made a full house that is roadworthy from scratch with little pre-existing skill in building is absolutely amazing. This is far more impressive than any other tiny home I've seen. You should be absolutely thrilled with the outcome. It's amazing! I cannot wait to see the interior completed. I'm intrigued though, will you be adding a bathroom?
Great build for someone with zero experience and it came to life with the coats of paint and sidings. I do have to say though if in the future you build another I would recommend taking the existing boards that came with the trailer and even replacing them with pressure treated ones or sealing the preexisting ones and never use Particle Board for anything thatll be exposed to elements. Im sure others have mentioned it but its gonna fall apart. That being said I would recommend maybe taking it somewhere and seeing if you can at least get the bottom of the trailer resprayed with a line X material or even a POR15 to help seal it a little. Overall your video was great and your attitude throughout this whole thing was good. Hopefully I can start my build sometime soon and can travel just like you are. Be safe!
Yea i was surprised that he didnt even clean up the trailer first, later on he sanded off the rust and painted it. But the boards looked so old and had gaps, im sure the frame the held the boards had rust too. You should always create a strong frame first before anything else, hopefully it holds up long enough to get his moneys worth lol
I love this new generation of young adults. So open to doing new things and thinking about living in different ways. This oldish lady will retire in a tiny home some day. I know nothing about construction, but what you did looks amazing to me! Congrats and keep spreading the word about smaller and simpler living. It's the only way forward, imo.
This is super dangerous. This might look "cool" but please don't do this, you could kill yourself or someone else. There are building codes on things like this for a reason.
@@feliciasbeard People are so snarky online. I'm aware there are risks. I was just marveling at this young person's ingenuity and hard work. Plus, he's kinda funny. He did a great job and probably learned lots of lessons. I will probably end up just buying one for myself someday. Chillllllll.
no...they are doing what has been done forever. But, it's on yt and tiktok so it must be "new"...sorry, it isn't. Only difference is they have different materials to use. Unfortunately, this young man used bad materials for this type of build. It's a learning curve.
@@whyme7996 Yes, there's lots to learn. I think it's admirable to jump in and give it a go though. The last couple of generations, by and large, haven't been taught these skills by the previous generations. I'm generalizing, but I think it's safe to say that us humans have lost lots of practical skills and knowledge over the last several generations, not just the two most-recent generations. I applaud his efforts to try to learn, by doing, and start to re-build that knowledge base for himself. He'll figure it all out. We all make mistakes in our beginning efforts. When passing your knowledge on to people, and being a teacher, tone matters. Try to build and encourage curiosity, or a budding love for doing something, while being informative.
There's something endearing about a young man who looks like his momma. I'm sure she's proud of you. Can't wait to see the inside when it's done. Great job!
I purchased my first place two years ago, (late bloomer 🙄), a 500 sg ft mobile home. I renovated the inside myself, knocked down a wall, pulled up carpeting, painted... the whole shabang - I now have a home I can be proud of. I consider it my tiny home - I call it "My lil' slice" Be proud of what you've done! It's beautiful!
That is such a good looking tiny home! I'm in Lander, WY and want to build a tiny home so my elderly mother can move in with us without losing her independence. Your video was super inspiring because I'd really like to build it myself but know absolutely nothing about construction. Great work!
for future reference when staining: a painbrush works fine but its more rss efficient and easier to use an old tshirt or rag. You can also avoid paint brush streaks. Because the stain is so thin the fabric soaks it up and pressure releases it onto your surface
I don't do any big projects but save my worn out thick socks. I'm in a cold climate, so no shortage. Learned it from my parents a long time ago. My results are more even distribution of the stain vs a brush.
That's actually really cool dude! It's so dope that not only did you build your tiny home but you also gained a lot of skills that you can use in the real world!
@@davidmrule I recently discovered your channel and enjoy watching your carefree, Bohemian, lifestyle videos. I’m looking forward to the video on your cabins interior and the one you make about your first adventure with your traveling cabin. You live in Wyoming, I live in Wyoming and make videos, maybe we could hook up together at some time. I enjoyed the question and answer video on Wyoming that you did.
fantastic video Everybody wants to be financially independent and live a better life. With savvy investing, an inexpensive lifestyle, and diligent budgeting, this is not difficult to do. I'm glad I realised early on that achieving financial freedom requires hard work.
My belief is that making a wise investment is a fantastic way to save money for the future as well as a way to generate passive income. Those who make poor mistakes early in life regret them later in life. But, if done alone, investing may be challenging and risky. For this reason, I suggest consulting experts for advice (financial advisors). The difficulty lies in effectively employing it, not just watching videos and reading investing books.
Sincerely, I'm genuinely moved by what you said. I have a seizable amount of money that I am willing to invest if given the appropriate knowledge and I am highly interested in investing. My greatest concern is losing money on a bad investment. I'm open to hearing your advice on how to make sensible investments as a result.
@@charlotteflair1043 PleaseAs an OAP with extensive experience, I firmly think that having the appropriate information is essential to the success of any investment. Regardless of what others may say, do whatever you set your mind to. Warren Buffer frequently advises, "Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful." The secret to succeeding even while others fail is undoubtedly this. Working with financial advisor Julie Anne Hoover, I earned $100,000. So far, working with her has been a promising experience.
All I can say is for someone who didn’t know anything about construction, you did really well! I love the idea of a tiny home, just haven’t the time or money to build one. What I am trying to do is build a permanent art studio….but not in the traditional sense. So this will be fun! Building anything is good for the body, mind , and soul. I encourage anyone that wants to feel better about themselves, to build something. Anything. Start small and work your way up! You will feel awesome!!
This guy is so impressive. If I was a boss at a firm and he came in for an interview and showed me this video, I’d hire him on the spot. It shows impeccable work ethic, grit, tenacity, creativity and more.
Looks great!! I used to frame houses for a few years and this looks amazing but i would just suggest some posts underneath your loft for added support, especially if the loft is nailed in and not screwed😄
Congrats, from a member of the tiny house community. Good job on your build! But now that you have built one, remember....don't stop there! Always have plans to build another one for friends, or to fix all those decisions you thought were good ideas at the time. You are quite entertaining to listen to!! xD Keep up the good work!
Wow!! Someone who demonstrates how creative their own vulnerability can be! You are a courageous man who is not scared of learning from your own experiences - you are incredible
It's a nice shell and really pretty on the outside. You will probably spend at least that much more on the interior, which is still great! I recommend solar panels, tankless hot water, a mini split heat and air, and a recirculating filtered water for your shower.
@@minkademko2335 yeah you could prioritize one here. I have seen nice generous showers in Sprinter vans. They earn their place in the layout as you can store the toilet in there and have a private place for using it. You can also rig it for wet storage, such as wet laundry, rain gear, snowboards, ski jackets, surf suits...not to mention pets water, litter box etc. And if you don't want to designate hard space for it, you can do something collapsible using the kitchen sink sprayer and setup curtains in a walkway or passthrough area. And if you don't want that you can setup a shower on the outside of the structure. Lots and lots of reasons to consider adding a bathroom esp if you live there full time. For me the thing would be that recirculating system...a real game changer. Could simplify the whole design of a tiny space used off grid. What it does is collect used water from the shower, filters it in real time, and before you run out it is already cleaned and sent back up to the showerhead. So you could rig this up to a combination shower and kitchen tap, pair it with solar tankless hot water. Take an hour long shower using only a couple gallons of water and then cook with it, drain your potatoes, and then wash your hands with it. Until you consume it, it's reusable. So it would drastically change the comfort level and stress assoc with boondocking and watching every drop of water, also the stress of water quality in unknown places. Would also help with design and layout because you wouldn't need so much water on board overall. That's more pantry or closet space. Or room for your guitar.
I’m saving your video because the Intro is 100% how I’m explaining our family move to a tiny house to everyone who asks. THAT IS NOT AN AMERICAN DREAM. To be tied to a mortgage and die lol. Your build looks amazing. And you had me laughing the whole time subscribing to see the interior!!!
lmao at having a family in a tiny house. gl with that. you must have a very loving wife if she puts up with that ridiculous idea, feel bad for the kids living in such a cramped space though
On an older trailer make sure you check your wheel bearings. Towing that much weight you probably should have new bearings installed, maybe even replace the whole hub on both sides. That way your assured a good tow for quite a while. If not, at least repack the wheel bearings with a high temperature quality grease.
it is truly my dream since I was maybe 13 to have a tiny home so seeing you who claims to DIY everything be able to make one for surprisingly not that much money [I've seen tinyhomes go for like 30+ and thats on the cheaper end] this really inspires me and makes me wanna make my own.

I have to vote this the best Tiny Home build video ever, and I have watched hundreds. Loved the fast humor injected, made me spontaneously laugh ! Great job on the build, like the design, and look forward to seeing the interior finish. I am certainly not a carpenter but your video inspires me to give it a go myself.
we love a Sense of Humor, I can't believe people would comment what you did wrong when they've made mistakes as well. but with that humor no bad comments bother you
That was so impressive. I am just completely stunned at how easy you made that look. I have worked construction all my life and I never would have thought up this idea. Excellent job I hope you make a video about how you hook up the amenities like water and tables or a chair.
I know you never actually worked construction because everyone who comments with your background does nothing but shit on the video! Kidding, love your open-mindedness.
Pick up your cross and follow Jesus! The world is quickly headed for destruction, and sooner or later you will have to sit at the judgement seat and give an account for your actions. Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life! - Revelation 3:20. Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God tho. Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc and you should get a response. Have a blessed day!
You too! Are you one of those who randomly picks? If so then thank you so much 😊! Oh gosh now I’m conspiring that my sister found my account made her own and then did her research. Never mind. She reminds me of you, heavy in faith, started her own worship group, she over did the existing one before run by adults and now she and her friend can run their own

You've done yourself proud, dude. And try not to be too hard on yourself, you can't be so clueless to have made such a dream a reality. You've shown ingenuity beyond your years. Well done 🤘
You got a new subscription. You did an amazing job. I’m building a tiny home on land I bought. It is so very therapeutic. I love your mom. Moms take what you say and twist them to be a true compliment at the end.
Very cool project :) What I've been thinking is that there is no weatherproofing below the floor level. for example, if he drives in rainy weather conditions, the surface below will get wet. Also, humidity could do its thing.
Absolutely love this! I've wanted to live in a tiny mobile home for a long time, and this is super inspiring! I may only be 15, but getting ideas now never hurt anyone, and if someone with no experience in building can do it, when I'm older I can do it too. (I have my dad to thank for getting me into this kind of stuff lmao.)
You're very good with your hands.. I would watch the finishing process, & you're honest about your skills.. Most men over compensate.. Down to earth & simple for those who struggle with small projects.. 🐰 You make young ppl look capable.. Good job, ignore the haters, you did alright😉
Particle board, man your gonna have to replace that in a few years (possibly even 1 year) once that stuff gets wet it weakens significantly and with the spot it’s located in the moisture will just sit there so it’s likely to rot pretty fast. When you repair it I recommend you find pressure treated wood as the outer most layer. Then you should put a sealing coat/weatherproof and water proofing coat on the pressure treated wood to prevent water damage.
He gotta get under there and waterproof the poop out of it. Very important. What's under a house can be important as what's above it. And speaking of poop. He will need bathroom plumbing.
You know I've seen a lot of of comments here about certain material over others but he had literally no idea what he was doing and learned A LOT during this project. He hasn't learned everything, but nobody would build a perfect tiny house BY THEMSELVES on the first try. I'm honestly blown away.
I'm so happy for you being a tiny home owner! Watching this video was so calming and also very inspiring! Would love to see the interior design soon :)

I have got to tell you David, I get such a kick out of you! Yes, I'm definitely old enough to be your grandmother, but I just laughed and laughed and laughed through all your videos. You're Building prowess blows my mind- especially for someone who's supposedly had no experience beforehand. You ought to be proud of yourself- I'm very proud of you! Yes, I even appreciate your puns. I used to be known as the pun Queen when I was young. So I appreciate a good pun. But you are actually very knowledgeable- very talented and a very bright young man. But the humor- that is definitely much appreciated. 😂 Thank you for sharing all your builds. I imagine your parents are very proud of you. 😊❤ Take care and enjoy. God bless you.
Dude, you did it alright! You're showing perfectly how you don't need to have anything planned out right off the bat but figure things out in the making. Sure it's no professional work but for the first try? Amazing! I love this mindset, just get started, everything else will show up and be dealt with on the way. That's how you get things done. And that's something I still need to learn for myself. I often say I will do this and that but in the end I mostly don't. Heh. But I'm on my way!
Freaking love this!! I love this entire motto. It's not the American dream to live and own big, it's to do and experience more. This is what I try to tell people, but I am not an "interesting person" when I speak on it. These are the types of people that save money and live in a very simple way.
I’ll be curious to see if you end up recommending some changes to the shell build once you’ve had the opportunity to add plumbing, wiring, hookups for water/sewer, etc. Looks very cool!
This video went up 4 wks ago, and I'm thinking you're still in the planning stage for the interior. I can hardly wait to see what you do with it 🤪 I like how the critics are lambasting your ambitions. You did this project on the fly, and I commend you for the effort. It's very inspiring, motivating, and thought provoking. Best of luck to you ❤️
