I was cringing when you said 2.0 automatic but I have mad respect for you for sticking to it and doing the swap, motor internals and painting it. I'm going to get wheels and an exhaust this week for mine and you vid just made me more excited.
Bro great job 💪 u did in ur back yard what 80% of this new jeneracion can't do Whit a garage full of tools. kids this days they just want to buy stuff and pay someone to do it and not build it them self's keep ur head up and keep the good work 👍 god bless you 🙏
So much love for this build! I appreciate the time and effort you put in for these videos, I always check to see if you have new videos every week. 🔥☺️
What a coincidence! I've seen your car around town a few times. Been thinking about doing something similar to my yellow 20th AE. The youtube algorithm provides!
Bro you deserve a million subs fr. This is an amazing build, much respect to you man. I gotta 99 2.0 and I now have more motivation than ever before to modify it to full potential.
I’m hopefully about to buy my first car, a 2008 standard Jetta, and I didn’t think you could really do anything to them, this def gave me motivation to bring it to it’s fullest potential if I do get it
This is sick as fuck bro I just got started on my 03 GLS 2.0. Headers, exhaust manifold and a catback to start. I painted some of the motor bay bright pink... well because let's face it.... it's all pink on the inside am I right hahahaha.... anyhow, I fucking love this car man good job on it. My cars name is Joan Jetta...
I got a Direct Shift Gearbox. It works great. I can drive it like a manual. I don't use 6th gear much around town purely for popping noises in 5th hahaha
I hate how lucky you guys are in the U.S, I have a jetta (called a bora here in ireland) and the amount of hassle we get compared to yous is ridiculous. Love the build and have big respect for you sticking with an auto and swapping
Bora 4 life! It's become a little bit easier here in Norway, but from what I've heard the car has to be at least 20 years old before you can do any major upgrades without too much fuss. Mine turns 20 this fall, and I've been thinking of dropping a VR5 or 6 into it....
I put a ram intake on my 2.0 because i liked the sound. I found a turbo kit for my car at a crate store for under $200 but there is still more i need to buy.
Dude I love you car and I'm a 2000 vw jetta owner as well unfortunately I own a 2.0 not a 1.8 but this is the same build I've been trying to do for my car as well
I've watched this video countless times.. I'm in the process of my build. Sick dub bro!!!! Always happy to see people putting the work in. Built not bought 💯!!!!
very nice build. im curious, what 02j transmission are you using? the 5 speed from a 2.0 na or a 5 speed from 1.8t. they have different ring and pinion ratios.
I don't why people freak out about these cars or others being an automatic? Honestly nothings bad about them. I've always preferred auto over manuals even though I can drive both
@@jerrycai3317 Ya that happens with age too. They all have issues here & there. I'm just going for the MPG in these mainly since I drive 500-700 miles a week. Not looking for speed or anything. I really like this body style
I'm doing a Smyth Ute out of the wife's old 99 5 gls vr6. It's an auto 😂 If she wants to drive it, fine. If not and the trans blows, a manual swap ain't hard and I've got all the pieces except for the trans. If it blows up and she still wants to drive it ,I'll find another auto for it. Folks rip on the o1m ,but mines been serviced like 3-4x in 130k out of fear of dirty fluid killing it.
This is so sick man! I have a mk4 golf (2000) with the same 2.0l non-turbo engine you started with and aspire to do the same thing you did in this video! I am curious roughly how much you spent on the build and what would be some things you would do different if you would do it over again?
I've seen the whole series and I really admire what you do. I have a stock 2000 mk4 Jetta 2.0. Honestly, I kinda wanna race yours with mine. Pulls to 120mph. Let me know if you're down
It's currently got a 260 cam with stock valve springs. I have a 276 turbo cam with dual valve springs that is going in hopefully by early May with a ported head.
I got the transmission for 120 at the junk yard. And axles were like 50. Just need the shifter assembly a clutch kit a few wiring items and fuses for under the dash. In total I think it was around 700 I remember being quoted like 1900 for the swap which would be nice to not have to worry about doing the work but it wasn't all that hard since I had the engine out anyway
Important question, how difficult is it to swap the 01M to the 02J? I also have a 2.0 and the trans is still holding on but I plan to 6 speed swap. Any tips or other weird parts involved?
@@Anthony_DiDonato I mean at the end of the day, it's my money and my project. comment once you have something to call your own or better yet keep your stupidity to yourself Anthony.
@@superrvolks comment when I have something to own? I got a mk6.5 Jetta, in manual.... had a 2.0 mk4 and had a 24v VR6 mk4... all manual. Good one though.
@@Anthony_DiDonato good enough that they are manual yet, you're still not MAN enough if you're judging off an automatic. You could fuck off already with your mAnUaL.
