I absolutely love watching you two work on vehicles. To have the tools and the shop and everything must be so nice. I’m hoping I’ll be there one day. Even if it’s in your shop! I’ll be there to help you!
Quickly becoming a bucket list item...drive out there after having parts shipped ahead, have Chris and Bec work their magic and then go wheeling and drive home...incredible idea!
I miss my 85 Toyota, with a EFI 350 with a 700r . The motor mounts and transmission adapter to Toyota tcase came from a place in Cali. I always wanted to make it out west with it and I never did 😭 People used to give me hell for running around on the trails because everyone always said it looked like a show truck. I didn't put all my nights and weekends and paychecks in it to look pretty, I built it to play!! The outtakes are always so funny ❤❤💯🙏 LiteBrite 4 life !!!!
Good stuff, all the way around. We got to see a build video and a crawling video to test the build. You can't ask for any more than that. All in one. Most of us began watching this channel to check out Kevin doing crazy stuff while crawling up trails and rocks, and Brit being energetic, enthusiastic, beautiful, and a hell of an excellent spotter. Now, in addition to that we get to see Chris and Bec fab and build, while helping other folks do crazy stuff crawling up trails and rocks, while spotting, being energetic, enthusiastic, and Bec be beautiful. It's all going full circle. Also, that Toyota build Chris and Bec finished off for Chris' brother is a real monster. It looked like it could and would go up and down most anything.
A tip for installing rivnuts...drill the hole undersized, and then take a tapered reamer you don't care for and hammer it into the hole until it's big enough to push the rivnut in. The hole is going to be hexagonal (or some variant of polygon depending on number of cutters), and the reason you want that is because the rivnut will squish and fill in that hex. Years from now when you need to take that bolt out, you might run into an issue of the rivnut simply turning with the bolt because the thread is gripping the rivnut tighter than the rivnut is gripping the sheetmetal, and when that happens, there's nothing you can do except cut and grind. However, if the rivnut is set into a hexagonal hole, it'll lock into it just like a nut in a socket and will shear the bolt before it turns. Learned that trick working on aircraft.
@@JohnStevens-iq3mp Sure, and unless you ream the hole that you drilled (you know, the way reamers are supposed to be used lol) and radius the hole with a countersink, then you're probably introducing stress risers with round holes too. Besides, planes and jeeps are basically stress risers in and of themselves lol....rivnuts are generally not used on stressed parts anyway.
Great video. I really have to complement Beck. Watching her wrench, it's obvious she really knows her what she is doing. I see a lot of people, guys and gals both pretending to be wrenching, when it's obvious they're just playing a role. Also, I wish I could weld half as good as she does too.
Awesome video... great shop content... the jeep came out great... good time had by new friends... the truck wow flexy.... Awesome out takes... egarly awaiting your next video...Safe travels
Big thumbs up on JE Reel driveshafts. Great quality and definitely needed if you lift your jeep. Had the same difficulty getting the OE flange off the pumpkin, ended up using a gear puller as well.
The Chris & Beck Show, episode 2! Chris is so animated he could be a cartoon character! Wonder how much that diesel build weighs? Should have replaced my front drive shaft long ago b4 it broke on trail. Good to see Beck more relaxed IFO camera - Well Done! Brother’s rig is a Blast! Who did the roll cage? LiteBriteNationPlaysTheBuilds!
I love my Jeep but I grew up and wheeled Toyotas my whole life! They’re hard to beat!! That has definitely got the best flex!!!! With so many Jeeps the Toy just looked and wheeled AWESOME!!!
Dang I wish I had the cash to bring my old 93 YJ to your shop for refurb. Chris and Beck are awesome! Love your work ethic and your attention to detail!
I was over wheeling in Sand Hollow a couple of weeks ago. What a great place. Cannot wait to go back. Ran 9/10 obstacles on the Fallen Trail with my 2 door manual JK.
This looked like a much more relaxed video after the mad dash of King of the Hammers. Glad you got to get out and have some fun. Thanks for the build tips.
A little tech tip on revnuts AKA rivet nuts use a little JB weld on knurls on revnut prior to install. This will keep them tight in body sheet metal and spin out. Also use a little anti seize on mounting bolt to prevent sieve up. Exspecially if you use stainless in zinc or stainless revnuts. Ask me how I know.
I was going to ask what Chris's brother flex test numbers were when I saw him on the trails.. Then the end had it.. I love it. Another great video and awesome to have shop time and rock time all in one video. Perfect!!
We love our diesel Rubicon. The diesel clatter just suits a Jeep IMHO, plus the MPG's are crazy for a 5000lb brick. Ryder's setup is what we want to do, 37's and a 3.5" lift, but have a baby on the way and can't swing the mods now. It is quite surprising how capable it is in stock form though.
I love my diesel Rubicon; Clayton 2.5 lift with 35s. I love the way it climbs. Mileage is pretty good too. I got 29 mpg from NM to Greeley CO and back before the 35s went on.
Can we get a breakdown on what went into building the EctoYota suspension. I am building a 85 2 door Montero from ground up. She’s currently 96’ WB. You all are so skilled and entertaining.
Chris! Thank you for the hardened frame callout and tips on how to get through it. I don’t know how y’all read through all these comments, never mind take the time to occasionally respond to them in-video. I appreciate y’all!
Light Bright Garage. Thank you for your time.Dan at NVM I want my JT skids that are unacceptably not delivered yet. Ordered 10/10/21 and was told 5 weeks. Very close to canceling the order and settling for the second best skids on the market.
The best drill bits I have ever used come from Matco but I think their patent ran out and you can get them from Snap-On also. But, they are a speed bit combined with a normal drill bit. No more graduated drilling. Pretty slick!
I really wish they sold fender liners like this for the front of a cherokee xj with trimmed fenders, I have about 10 hours into making front liners using riv-nuts and brackets that utilize the bolts for my fender armor etc... I'm still not done I took a little break to do other things on the jeep but it'll need finished soon I've been trying to think of what material would be best to use I started with a thick rubber but then took a break to think about if I want to do aluminum or something else that might look nicer. I also have a massive fox 2.5 reservoir to package in the front wheel wells I got some billet mounts for that might look nice with an aluminum liner.
Hey Chris you're an awesome mechanic, I like your work. But I have one quick question coming from an aerospace background and also an auto mechanic. I noticed a lot of mechanics drill holes in frames , and other other miscellaneous parts of vehicles. But I I never see anyone treat the inside of the drill hole. With either Alodine or just Paint & primer or even some type of Grease to keep down the corrosion later on. Just a little professional information to pass on in all my years of experience.
I’ll have to try the beeswax. Does JE Reel tell you to use RTV silicone on the new yokes/flanges? I’ve used 2 other driveline brands and both tell you to load it up with silicone.
