Hey guys!
So we decided to invest in Solar, after waiting for a few months on Zesco, unfortunately it has been a long enough wait and so we figured why not invest in something more long term that would save us a whole lot. Solar is currently the way to go when wanting to be off grid. I gave a few tips on how to go about it and what we have done. Please comment below if you have any other in depth information that would be uselful to me and others watching.

Livukile Natasha 🙌 Great to see you here and you have done well on this house build project. You are brave climbing the ladders to explain the solar panels on the roof. Your knowledge is on point, PV panel is the way to go especially in Zambia where we have plenty abundance of sunshine. You are also correct on doing the calculations of the kilowatt or Watts before installing the system. Prior to purchasing the PV panels I am surprised ZESCO take this long to supply and connect 😅. I do understand.

Thanks! I think with time their services will improve hopefully! But I am always being optimistic so I’m hoping they come soon enough, if not it’s fine as the investment we have made suffices.

Hi Natasha, your building journey has really inspired me. would you be kind enough to share with me the total amount of money you spent to build your 2 bedroomed house? Also, how much did the solar system cost and how much was it to drill a borehole with the tank stand and everything?

Good evening Natasha, Just from watching the solar installation done by Voltbeat and thanks for explaining in detail though one thing I would like to find out is. 1. Is the inveter a Pure sine wave inverter and how big is it in terms of Kva? Regards.

So the inverter is a hybrid meaning it can be used to charge the batteries through Zesco and Solar. I’m not very sure if that answers your question.😅

Are you going to eventually connect to Zesco since you applied for connection (I assume)?

Yes as a back up we will most likely connect once they decide to come and view the connection point. I have been waiting since we moved to no avail, so atleast Im not in a rush if they do 😅😅

Hey so the place I bought my solar system was from a shop in City centre. I went around that area and compared prices and also on the basis of what I wanted. I unfortunately do not have they phone number but I would suggest looking around before committing to one vendor.. As I didn’t go to all the stores but most. 😅
